Plenty of Chances

Recommended Posts

Ryan Bennet mentions in his interview that we had plenty of chances, this seems to be the case in most of our matches, well the time has come to make those chances into goals now.

Really? What were these chances that he speaks of? There was a very decent one where Bassong missed a free header and two half chances (where Wes scuffed his shot from the edge of the area and Redmond, on the stretch, put the ball over the top). Other than that West Brom never looked in any serious danger.

West Brom actually created the best openings in the match - the goal, the free header which was somehow headed down and over from about 4 yards and the missed chance from that cleverly worked set piece in the first half. Given that Rondon knew exactly what was coming he should really have been on the line waiting to tap it in.

We had plenty of corners !! All of them over hit or under hit ,, disgraceful given that we also had the height and presence of Ryan Bennet on the pitch , that we couldn''t hit one of our players from a corner .

For Morty , I believe the first shot on target was around 80 minutes , Myhill just stood still and caught the ball in his midrif.

We had several shooting opportunities where the ball was badly hit - so yes, there were plenty of chances to put the goalkeeper under pressure. That we didn''t is a concern, but overall we should have seen WBA off yesterday.  But they are no fools either under Pulis. They did a job on us. We won''t be the only club they do that to this season.

We are guilty at times of over complicating matters when we try the intricate pass rather then pulling the trigger.

A direct result is we dont get bodies in the box often enough to create problems.

We are its fair to say very predictable in our build up play, slow and methodical this in turn makes it very easy for well organised units (Leicester,West Brom,Stoke,Palace) to defend against.
