He said he travelled up on the plane with the directors today after his son was born last night. There''s two views to this:

- the ''romantic'' sporting angle - what a great weekend, what a captain and what a great guy, scoring the goal to gain the draw; certainly something he''ll never forget

....or....

- what the hell was he doing playing football today when he should be with his newborn son; he should have been on paternity leave.

You wouldn''t be with your newborn son as typically you would not be discharged from hospital until the day after at best.

So, sit around drinking machine coffee and making small talk with fellow new fathers, or play the game you love at an iconic ground with the chance of scoring a fine goal?

Tricky one.

The bloke is paid a fortune which means getting around isnt an issue and he was able to use a private jet.Good goal but he was at fault for LFC''s goal and was able to tap into resources the normal man on the street doesnt have.

Let''s not go over board..

The interview with Russ on canary call brought a big lump to my throat, one of the best post match interviews that Ive heard for years plus loved what he said about Sir Alex, have a listen if you havent heard it

http://t.co/rkvJTzdsXb

So Russ''s weekend went like this if I heard it right

8pm - Gets phone call to say Wife is in early stages of labour

10:30pm - Drives Back to Norwich

3:30am-Arrives at hospital

9am-Baby Boy is born

12 noon - Gets ncfc plane back to Liverpool with Directors

1:30pm-Back at Anfield with team

4.30-Scores the equaliser

What a captain !!

Was a good goal, someone else might have over hit that.

I remember John Polston had a very similar child birth - goal scoring experience for us, although it was a home match vs Aston Vile....
