OldRobert 38 Posted September 22, 2015 World Cup Ticket CrackdownThe first crackdown on the unofficial secondary market selling tickets breaching Rugby World Cup terms and conditions inevitably involved Ipswich''s secretive owner Marcus Evans - once described as the biggest ticket tout in the world.A covert World Rugby operation resulted in 20 people who had bought hospitality packages through one of Evans'' companies - THG - being forbidden entry to Twickenham before the England versus Fiji game. The duped rugby fans had paid over two times the price of official hospitality for their packages. This follows a similar World Rugby initiative against Evans'' unofficial hospitality at the 2011 World Cup.An Evans employee was arrested and accused of illegally selling £300,000 worth of World Cup tickets at the 2010 football World Cup in South Africa. And more than 40 spectators who had bought hospitality packages off Evans'' companies were refused entry to the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor. Even suspended FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke''s incriminating correspondence with sports ticket consultant Benny Alon, which has been put into the public domain, mentions: ''Marcus Evans making money on hospitality without having the right to do so.''
