Andy G 10 Posted September 25, 2015 Now I know Lafferty has a lot of flaws but I believe his attitude this year has been fantastic and an example of how a fringe player should be.Earlier this season he had a discussion and said he didn''t want to leave and wanted to fight for his place. He then scores plenty of goals on the International stage (even though he was not fit enough to play for us)Even though the Scoring for Northern Ireland he is still not chosen ahead of other strikers, but the one chance he does get he lets his feet do the talking. He has clearly given Alex Neil a welcomed difficult decision and you''ve got to start seeing him moving up the pecking order.Whether it works out or not for him I don''t know but how many "fringe" players are happy to sit and not be played? I think a lot of players could learn a lot from him.

Took his goal brilliantly on Wedsnesday and appears to be doing all the right things to get himself into the first team reckoning. Still think he is more likekly to get in the first team on the left and as such, could play on Saturday instead of Jarvis, allowing Brady to keep his left back position where he has done so well. Yes, I know Brady could play further up, allowing Olsson back to the team, but if AN wants to keep things as they have been, Lafferty could do Jarvis''s role on the left - and Laffety has spent a large part of his career on the left. YorkshirePudding 0 Posted September 25, 2015 I completely disagree that Laffs could replace Jarvis on the left, especially when Jarvis has been playing so well. Perhaps if we need something different/more physical coming on as a sub, but nkt as a starter. Has more chance of replacing a striker if there are injuries there. It is an option tomorrow which would keep Brady at LB, where AN might prefer to keep him for now.
Move Klose 303 Posted September 25, 2015 Well I would imagine either Brady will move further up pitch or Howson will go out to the left tomorrow. Be suprised if Lafferty gets ahead of Jerome, M''Bokani & Grabban in the 18 tomorrow.
BroadstairsR 2,138 Posted September 25, 2015 Not for me.Olsson back and Brady moved forward.Whilst I agree with the deserved and new-found acclaim for Kyle Lafferty, and also that his stature has been raised of late, I just see him as being quite away away from starting at PL level .. and even in his striking role. Sorry!Sell him whilst his stock is so high.
El Convento 14 Posted October 9, 2015 Problem solved. A half-decent summer in the international limelight and it''s unlikely he''ll be needing to warm our bench any more.
lappinitup 629 Posted October 11, 2015 Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty admits he may have to leave Norwich in January.Lafferty has been on fine form in his country''s successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, scoring seven times in eight appearances and leading the line with aplomb. But that has not resulted in opportunities with the Canaries.Lafferty, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish side Rizespor, has been allowed just 13 minutes of Premier League football by manager Alex Neil. Now, with the need to be match sharp for next summer''s tournament in France, Lafferty knows he needs to be playing."It''s frustrating. I''m doing the right things, heading in the right direction, but you can only do so much," said the 28-year-old."If you''re not getting a chance and you''re doing the maximum, then you have to ask yourself a question. Norwich and the fans have been brilliant with me and I''d be sad to leave."But I''ve to think about myself, my family, my career. If it is time to leave I''ll take the opportunity. There''s no point in me sitting in the stands or playing for 15 minutes when there''s a massive tournament coming. I think I''ll give it until January then sit down with the manager."I think I can do a job. Norwich play with a target man and Cameron Jerome is doing a fantastic job."If he gets injured and the manager sees me as the next up then, but if not I''ll consider my future." Can''t blame him if he moves on but I would have liked to have seen him given a chance up front instead of on the wing. However, with Jerome and Mbokani ahead of him that seems unlikely. I fear we may come to regret it if we let him go.http://sport.bt.com/sport-football/news/kyle-lafferty-admits-he-might-have-to-leave-norwich-S11364010066951
Helsinki canary 240 Posted October 11, 2015 I am off to the Olympic Stadium here in Helsinki in a while to cheer Kyle on! 2000 Northern Ireland fans drinking the town dry!
KiwiScot 1,436 Posted October 11, 2015 I don''t think another premier league team would want him so championship or possiblity Scottish league would be his best bet for game time.
Helsinki canary 240 Posted October 12, 2015 He struggled in the lone striker role last night, some good ball control and hold up play but had no one to support him up front, sounds a bit like Norwich with the one up front approach. Suspect he is not fast enough to play the loan striker role in the prem....so he would fit better into a 442 line up.

Spent a large part of his career on the left and although is good in some ways up front, does lack some aerial pwowess. On the left though, he can be excellent - as he was at the beginning of last season. Looks a real team player though and I would be slightly sad to see him move on, but can see that he could be better off at a chapionship club, getting regular starts. Norwich Chatter 0 Posted October 12, 2015 As much as I like him, I don''t think he is good enough to play in the Premier League as a lone striker. I certainly don''t think he is better than Jerome or Mbokani.I''d also say we only see a small part of his attitude. We don''t really know how he is in training and how well he integrates with the squad. The fact that Alex Neil was so keen and quick to loan him out when he arrived suggests that maybe something is not right.
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted October 12, 2015 I would suggest that Alex Neil will remember his behaviour when he was at Rangers, and he had a reputation then, I think we saw glimpses of it the last few days, standing holding beer on the pitch while being interviewed and then tipping beer over the reporter''s head, then next day rolling on the ground taking the pee out of another reporters shoes whilst reporting.I accept he is on a high after N Irelands epic success in the Euro''s, and that is what it is "epic", but modern footballers just don''t behave like that, might just be a glimpse of what he is like on the training ground ? Norwich Chatter 0 Posted October 12, 2015 Indeed, and the rumours from his time in Italy suggests that he may not be the professional we all would like to believe. Alex Neil doesn''t strike me as the sort of manager that will put up with a bad attitude.

He may be a practical joker, but never moans, wanted to stay and fight for his place - and he gives a lot when he gets on the pitch. I suspect that is what matters most. The joking is just part of his character and the celebrating was just celebrating - and the shoe thing was nothing but an attempt to entertain.
BroadstairsR 2,138 Posted October 13, 2015 You can''t love everything Norwich City LDC and as commendable as Lafferty''s apparent renovation has been, his goal-scoring feats for NI have been and his application and attitude now seem to be, my personal opinion is that he is not quite up to the mark as a genuine Premier League striker and I have to therefore disagree with you and others who think he should feature for us more frequently. At 28 he has never played at the highest level and Premier League clubs have never clamoured for his signature during the time he has ventured from Burnley, Darlington, Rangers, Switzerland, Serie B and finally Carrow Road (with a loan out involved.)His strike rate was only ever respectable at Palermo (about 1 in 3) but otherwise has been limited. Please don''t quote the exceptional Grant Holt scenario to me as Kyle is no Grant. He''s a hot head to boot and that won''t change overnight.Hopefully, Mbokani will live up to early promise. We have Jerome. I want Hooper back in contention as it''s about time he earned his corn, and AN has a frequent preference for Grabban to the tune of £6m.Where does that leave Kyle Lafferty then? In the shop window say I.Cash in whilst his stock is high and spend the dosh strengthening the defence. There will be no shortage of Championship clubs in the race eager to spend a few million on the star of Northern Ireland.

Agreed then it''s the Chumps for Kyle.
