Lessons AN have not learned

Recommended Posts

1. Wes must start vs virtually all teams we are expected to dominate against. Home and away.

2. Opting for a "defensive" start just passifies the team, and especially the central midfield. We must attack, from the start, like we did vs West Ham.

3. Must chose midfielders with more energy than Howson and Dorrans currently display. Both have been poor recently. VOO must be vying for a start, and he has got more energy.

4. Fitness levels seems to be poor, especially for the midfielders. Struggle to track back, to late into situations/tackles, stands off instead of getting stuck in, etc. Must be addressed. And, yes, I have mentioned it before in this forum, NCFC is the team doing the least running in the Premier. No coincidence we are leaking goals.

5. Failing to adress defensive reinforcements in August makes us HAVE to play 2 sitting mids in almost all games. And it does not help, because our sitting mids are less mobile than they should be.

6. Lack of pace is a concern, in almost all parts of the team, especially CM and right back.

7. AN has not created any real competition for places. VOO is out in the cold. Lafferty too. Wisdom not challenging Whitts, when he really should be. Rudd vs Ruddy?

Pace and "energy" in the middle can be provided by Howson if he gets played there but at the moment he''s getting moved around too much.

It''s his best position, he is the best central midfielder at the club but he isn''t being played there.

Overall, Howson is one of our better midfielders, I agree. But he does seem "off the pace" these days, a bit heavy running, and this is not only down to being moved around.

However, playing DM, then RM, then AM every other week can not be fruitful for Howson either.

Sadly, the loss of Mulumbu has cost us a lot, in terms of defensive solidity, and as such, there has been too much tinkering with the team.

As grefstad states there was too much tinkering with the team. The first half in particular there was no cohesion and numerous poor short passes. Redmond in particular. The midfield looked lost and was certainly too lightweight to handle Newcastle''s strong direct approach. In my opinion Tettey would have been the last person to have been substituted today. He was really our only player who could mix it with the opposition. At Liverpool Ruddy came out and took everything crossed in the air but today was reluctant to do so and he was at fault on two occasions.

Wes is almost 34 and played for Ireland last 2 games + travel a lot make him impossible to play evry game.We create many but also team is very open when create and with no clinical Striker to score 2 from 3  chanses this play is suiside for u because conceed too much. The problem is that if we try deffensive aprouch we will create even less and will score max 1 ...I wonder when all say our middfeld was so poor today, how in secund half first 15 minutes we won evry ball and controlled they play.May be is Newcastle tactical approuch or simply we was 10 players on away field !?
