Norwich City bid £14m for Charlie Austin

Recommended Posts

15 million to pay for him, let''s say he as reported is on £85,000 a week so for 4 years that''s over 17 million so with out bonuses that''s alot of money

If anyone thinks he is on £85k a week or will be getting £85k a week at any premier league club then you are deluded.

QPR players are living in a little bubble of false reality.

If they want to move on they will have to re-engage with the real world.

Still think we may get him, hope we do.

Like rob Butler said on canary call any striker who watches our hilights today will fancy themselves to get a few goals on the basis of how many chances we are creating. Offer them £10-11m and gary hooper and see where we go. Would love to see us sign him, still think a top 10 side will come in for him.

Just can''t say he''s worth more than 5 million as he could just be a 1 season wonder at this level.

Not many options out there with sensible prices attached!

We could do with an experienced striker at this level, but that appears to be at a very high financial cost.

£5m 😂😂😂😂😂 I''m not so saying £15m is a bargain but probably the market value at the moment when you see what andre gray, Tyrone Mings etc are going for.

Austin caught my eye when he was at Swindon and he''s only got better.

His record shows you he scores goals at any club he''s at and any level he plays at.

For players that might be within our reach I cannot think of anyone better than him.

GJP, funny that statement sounds just like RVW remarks two seasons ago!

I''m not saying current market value, as it''s gone one step too far for me! 15 million for Austin, 8 million on Mings.....

Crippling clubs with inflated costs and stupid wage demands, sad that footballers demand so much yet those defending our peace & medical care are subject to such poor pay and conditions.....sad really.

I don''t think it takes much to see that Austin is far more cut out to score goals in this league than RVW.

Plus, crucially, he has proven he can.

Indy, Austin more than earnt his wage last season. The demand for football means billions of pounds is circulated as premiership football is staple entertainment for over a billion people. If anything, Austin should be paid more! If he contracted himself out on a game by game basis (yes its against the rules but theoretically) then he would earn loads! If we got Austin and his goals were the difference between staying up or not then we will all agree he is worthy of a big wage. Sooner he gets the money, not some fatcat in the stands.

It''s the way of the world.

The cost of relegation is a "high financial cost". Austin would be a calculated gamble. We need a PL goalscorer, he scores goals in the PL. Pay the money.

The amount of 85k a week was reported in the media with the mirror not saying it''s correct but either way Charlie Austin ''s wages at QPR were probably quite significant and would probably make more sense why he has not been snapped up already.

I don''t think he''ll want to come here. I have no idea how much he is on at QPR, but i seriously doubt it is within our wage structure. The £15m is just one half of the commitment.

Besides, I''m almost certain he''s waiting on spurs or Southampton to take him on deadline day.

The games against Crystal Palace and Stoke show we are Premiership quality and play football as well as or better then 90% of the league.

Our quality in possession and build up play is not reciprocated in our killer finish. Had Charlie Austin been fed the chances we had we''d have won 3-1 or better. He''s well worth the money and worth 25+ more points this season.

Fact: Any decent striker will be £10m plus.

Fact: We wasted £8m plus on RvW with no PL experience 2 years ago

Fact: Austin''s goal ratio was virtually 1 in 2 in the Pl last season

Fact: Based on yesterday''s evidence if our Board can''t see fit to offer £15m for Austin''s services then they should sell up now

Can you ''see fit'' to go out and buy a Rolls Royce or a Bentley tomorrow? It''s probably similar for our board.

Transfer fees have risen this year due to more money in football. £15 million for Austin isn''t ridiculous its fair.

.... Still think we should take a punt on Michu.

Lafferty should also get go until we bring in a huge signing... he''s mainly played wide left for us which is out of position.

Grabban, Hooper and RVW could go for 10 million+. All of them lack top quality.

This has to be trolling.
£10mill for Grabban, Hooper or RvW is ridiculous, even in this inflated market none of them would fetch more than 5 or 6 mill.
Michu? You have to be on a wind up. He''s barely kicked a ball for 2 years and has scored 2 goals in that time (20 apps). He had 2 good seasons, scoring 14 and 15 in La Liga and the Prem respectively. Before that, he had scored 14 goals in over 100 appearances, in 5 seasons in the Spanish second division. He is a two season wonder, never going to cut it, and if you think he will, your scouting credentials are about on par with Tom Cavendish.
Lafferty? He isn''t good enough. Even Adams didn''t think he was good enough to play up top. If he is better than what we have up front already, then why didn''t Adams play him centrally? Why was he allowed to go out on loan? Why was the ''best'' (presumably) team in for him on loan, a Turkish no hoper? He needs shipping out ASAP, the last thing we need is to be putting him near the team!

Unless you meant 10mill combined?
