vlad666 201 Posted August 21, 2015 if this bid is true it suggests the afobe deal is dead in the water.
norfolkngood 1,067 Posted August 21, 2015 ex binner BUT a solid premiership player who is very much in the grant holt mold of always gives 100 % and others teams defences a tough time can score in this league I wouldn''t say no to this ex binner or not
lincoln canary (& Golden Coppel) 0 Posted August 21, 2015 Not for me.... Whilst not a quality player, he is an effective player. But given his age, i can see his effectiveness reducing dramatically over the next 18 months.
Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted August 21, 2015 Not worth a fortune, possibly £3m. Could do a job for a couple of seasons which would be money well spent if we stay up
It's Character Forming 1,156 Posted August 21, 2015 As backup for Jerome I''d snap him up in an instant.Scary that he''s already 31 - time flies ! I agree this puts a limit on his career at top level but IMO we need a Jerome backup now. If we stay up and in 18 months time he''s no longer as effective, that''s not a problem as we''ll have time to line up a longer term signing. Also the ex-binner tag doesn''t worry me. Few players actually have real animosity towards the other derby club.
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted August 21, 2015 Walters, Brady and Hoolahan, who said Alex Neil prefers Scots ?Would work well for us, IMO.
judderman 0 Posted August 21, 2015
if this bid is true it suggests the afobe deal is dead in the water.
I wouldn''t say so, completely different type of player. Afobe is a goalscorer, Walters is a very effective player but unlikely to score many himself.
Haggerdoo 6 Posted August 21, 2015 Anything less than £3m get him in - big bruiser will do a decent job for us - ten times better idea than Griffiths from Celtic
BroadstairsR 2,085 Posted August 21, 2015 The only player with Ipswich connections that I personally would want at Carrow Road is David McGoldrick. He is a class and a half better tha any other ITFC player, IMO, and scores and creates with skill. It is generally accepted by the Binners that "Didsy," (yes believe! That is what they call him at the Portaloo) is quite anxious for a stab at Premier League football and that a certain amount of disaffection at the club''s refusal to let him go to Leicester last season, along with a bad injury, resulted in a poor season by his recent standards. Apparently, he is now back to his best and has even extended his contract, but this may be to increase his value.I''ll bet £5m might do it. They are still losing cash at a disturbing rate.Diddums, sorry Didsy, to Norwich please.

jamie 10 0 Posted August 21, 2015 If he was the only player we brought in I would be a little disappointed, doesn''t score enough goals and isn''t the most mobile so not for me

Old Shuck 171 Posted August 21, 2015 I''m just wondering if, when (if ever) we get this new striker in, the statement from the club will include the line, "(insert player name here) was always our first choice"
Highland Canary 76 Posted August 21, 2015 We have a unfathomable approach as to whom we''ll bid for next. Perhaps, a centre half would be a start?

Crafty Canary 487 Posted August 21, 2015 32 next month and not a prolific scorer ( about 1 in 6 ). Although 6 feet tall I see him as a Hooper type player rather than Jerome. Might lend credence to the Hooper to Celtic story but not one to get excited about.

Europe_93 11 Posted August 21, 2015 I think he would be a great signing for us. I''d see him competing with Jerome for a starting place, but also willing / able to play as one of the 3 behind the main striker if required.I don''t think we need to spend a massive sum on a striker to secure premiership survival, I think we will be ok if we don''t sign anyone. Walters represents a solid signing, an improvement on what we have in the squad, if not the team, with minimal risk (probably a 2 year contract). Walters also demonstrates a good work ethic, and fits in with the type of quality we are looking for, i.e. international standard.
Feedthewolf 4,786 Posted August 21, 2015 Oh god please noooooo! I hate his face, I hate the way he plays – would be sick everywhere if we sign him. Bleurgh.

I can''t see much point bringing someone else in to do that role instead of Hooper (unless AN feels Hooper is lacking motivation etc - which I''ve never noticed on the pitch, he''s just a less mobile player than Jerome/Grabban).But when I''ve watched Walters playing for Stoke, he struck me as probably being able to play as a lone striker although not as good as Jerome. Trawling canary 0 Posted August 21, 2015 This is disgusting and completely unacceptable having a binner at the club is not on.I would be forced to Boo one of my own players constantly. This is how desperate our transfer policy has become.I am now serious questioning what is going on at the club!
