Match thread v Southampton

Recommended Posts

With or without the red card we''ve been poor today- nothing up top, no threat out wide and looked scared every time they''ve attacked us. Much to be done.

If we''re laying blame, then the goal was Howson''s fault.

Giving the ball away needlessly completely wrong-footed the Norwich defenders......

---------------------------

Whitts to blame

Howson to blame

Martin to blame

Ruddy, although he was beaten at his near post, don''t think he could''ve dona lot tbf.

Absolutely bloody hopeless. Southampton not great themselves but Whittaker really helped them. Shame it''s only a one game ban. Could be a busy final window

We''ve hardly threatened. Is our new wonder manager really any better than Hughton?

Sad thing is that Southampton aren''t that great. Would have an interesting match if we had turned up & we had 11 men for 90 minutes.

Yes. Yes he is. Apart from today we''ve created loads of chances, we''ve just not taken them. Could easily have scored 3 or 4 v Palace and similar v Stoke.

We were in this game until the sending off which obviously changed it all but at that point I was wondering why we weren''t having more of a go at a Saints side clearly short of confidence.

For me the commentators made a good observation about us only having Tettey who was a player to put his foot in while all the rest liked to play on the front foot.

We were and are too lightweight in midfield and that is a problem. Maybe BJ should have started but the lightweight midfield which saw us relegated is still evident.

This has been utterly woeful in every single aspect. I imagine many watching this will be convinced one of the relegation spots are all but filled already.

This result/performance has undermined all the solid progress of the first three games, and this has come about from one player''s naivety/stupidity.

Four points from twelve was a minimum requirement from the ''relatively kind'' early fixtures.

Lessons need to be learnt quickly, although Wisdom''s performance suggests there will be no quick route back for Whittaker.

Well he has stood there with his arms in the air for 2nd & 3rd. Not that impressed so far. Really been looking forward to see how good he is.

Bad days happen. Take it on your head. Prepare. Come back stronger. Be a true fan. These are the times the team need you most. Still confident of survival. This doesn''t change anything. A wee chat changes everything you know, just ask Seb Bassong.

The way we have folded you would think Southampton had more than one man extra, we are really shocking, no shape, can''t pass to a yellow shirt & arguing with each other, really need some fresh faces soon!
