There was a lot of blame placed on him by Burnley fans for a shambolic transfer window last season, with them failing to sign their main targets. Now he joins us and a similar situation occurs.

We left everything so late and majorly failed to strengthen key areas. Wonder how much blame we can place on him.

I posted that we were a bit like Burnley last year. Team spirit and little proper investment but people disagreed. Now we have lost Johnson who added some of that spirit. Even used as a spokesperson off the pitch. A long term servant ....so where does that leave us. VOO has some big shoes to fill

The only area we didn''t strengthen was defence, though - some people do seem desperately keen to overplay just how ''bad'' the transfer window was, as if we are suddenly left with no chance: the fact is we are stronger than we were before it.

The one obvious gaping hole is cb - we needed to get a body in, particularly after Turner being allowed to go, and we didn''t.

As for up front and in m/f, imo we are ok - Mbokani seemed to be a main target all along, and we got him in.

If thats your opinion of ok i would hate to see us when you think we are in trouble .

Mbokani was clearly one of our main targets - Id''d at the end of July. if you can''t see/don''t want to consider him as an upgrade then there''s not much hope for you. Hooper was only ever offered out on loan, we didn''t want to ''ship him out'' - he obviously wants first team football and is still regarded as a decent player. We also have Lafferty, who is an international striker and has never been used as one/been given a chance here. As for Grabban, last week everyone was lauding AN and the club for not selling him yet that is suddenly wrong. The club just cannot win.

It seems to me that everyone is busy being wound up by each other and extremely overplaying the ''bad'' aspect of the transfer window - which is really rather sad. I''m not saying it worked brilliantly, and this recruitment guy seems to have some questions to answer - his goal surely was to seek out at least one cb - but it is not all doom and gloom as some are making out.

This bloke can pack his bags and * off whence he came! Only we could employ him with a CV including the burnley mess up. Look where that led despite a great spirit.

What a total and utter oxygen thief this man must be!
