Rich T The Biscuit 676 Posted September 1, 2015 We''ve got reportedly £6m for a player that isn''t good enough to play out wide in the premier league and isn''t good enough to play central against the players we have there.Yes he was our player of season and was superb for us last season but so many on here have said he''s not good enough for the PL so sounds to me like good business. He won''t play centrally over Tettey/Mulumbu/Howson and now that Olsson is fit Brady will play out wide. Getting Jarvis in has now given us further wide option.Yes we''d all have loved a centre half and I can t believe we haven''t but this was good business. Buh 0 Posted September 1, 2015 Might have to go back and see what these people that have berated his transfer have said about him in the pastIt''s fair to say he''s a player that has polarised opinion at times.I believe this is what he wantedBut it still hurts because jono is awesome and he''s been a great servant for us.I like Jarvis and I''m intrigued to see what he can do for us. gitto 0 Posted September 1, 2015 Only if you get a £6mill player in a position you need and strengthen the team
? 20 Posted September 1, 2015 He''s better than O''Neill, better than Howson, more reliable than Tettey. Mulumbu hasn''t even played yet.Brady, i''ll give you. So, what if he gets injured? Who fills in on the left? Jarvis? Sure, he was great 5 years ago, but the West Ham fans reaction should tell you all you need.Stop talking garbage.
mrs miggins 0 Posted September 1, 2015 The fact that BJ has gone is not the problem, its that we haven''t got a suitable replacement. Again, Jarvis is $hit.
Baywing 0 Posted September 1, 2015 Good business or not as a fan there are some players you want to see pull on that shirt and then there''s others you really wouldnt care if they didnt bother....Brad is a guy who would run through a wall for the team, stick a boot or a head in where it hurts and give 100% everytime !!As has been widely reported could have bailed out last summer along with Fer and Snodgrass but stayed, rolled up his sleeves and did a shift for the cause !!Has earned his place in the City hall of fame as far as I am concerned. Rich T The Biscuit 676 Posted September 1, 2015 He''s that much better than Tettey and Howson that he''s played less and O''Neill is technically a better player. If me suggesting that getting £6m for a player that isn''t playing and won''t be a starter is garbage, you my friend have just been thrown out with the garbage
The Walking Man 13 Posted September 1, 2015 I echo near enough everything that Baywing has said. We also need to think about what BJ wanted. He''s 28 not guaranteed a game here anymore, when made aware of the Derby interest he could have said that he wants to go.
Barclay seats 4849 the 3rd 0 Posted September 1, 2015 I am proper gutted about this ,, like miggins said ,, made worse because no replacement has come in !Don''t start with Jarvis is his replacement !! Wtf ! Lunatics have taken over the asylum ... Feeling very disappointed tonight .
Rich T The Biscuit 676 Posted September 1, 2015 Im not suggesting or disputing what a great player he has been for us, he was one of my favourite players from last year.I just think £6m is a good deal and good luck to him.He clearly isn''t the kind of professional who is happy to sit on the bench and take his money, he wants to earn it. Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted September 1, 2015 I like Johnson but seriously, better than Howson? Err no. Also not more reliable than Tettey, certainly not better than Mulumbu and Id say O''Neil is more reliable.

Molly Windley 76 Posted September 1, 2015 The question is................Would you rather have Bradley Johnson in the squad or £6 million dead money in the NCFC bank?
Crabbycanary3 994 Posted September 1, 2015 £6M for him is very good business.Jarvis can do things that Johnno can''t and vice versa, but Jarvis hasn''t been signed as a direct replacement for Johnson. He has been signed to do a specific job in AN''s team and style of play. Something that Johnno could not fulfil.BJ was immense for us last season, but has been out played, by the other midfield players we have (not even allowing for Mulumbu yet) this season. We love BJ, but obviously AN doesn''t see him playing in the Prem, neither does any other Prem team, hence his move to Derby (for whom, I am sure he will be a success)
Marchant 5 Posted September 1, 2015 I wonder if those who are up in arms about this are the same people who slated him last time in the Premiership and then decided he had '' found his level'' in the Championship?
Phillip J Fry 0 Posted September 1, 2015 Jarvis was linked with Norwich last year when Neil came in and appears to me to have been a long term target rather than a stop-gap soloution. The reality may be that Johnson, realising that Norwich were now actively trying to sign another winger, read the writing on the wall and decided to push through a move rather than be left on the bench. From BJs angle it may be a good move. he is 28 and this contract is the big one for him. A four year contract at Derby takes him to 32. I doubt we would offer him four years. I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he can stick a few in the binners net...
Van wink 2,994 Posted September 1, 2015 Good luck to Jonno, a good deal for him but a shit outcome for our club.
TIL 1010 5,246 Posted September 1, 2015 I decided to have a break from the carnage on here and have a look on TWTD ( yeah yeah i know ) and there are 2 Johnson threads running believe it or not and basically even the Scummers cannot believe we have sold him. Says it all to me.
Baywing 0 Posted September 1, 2015 I certainly havent claimed he was technically the best player we have.....my argument is he was 100% committed, can the same be said about those still here ?I agree he is the type of player who wants to be involved and retains my respect for thatHOWEVER having watched the Derby interview just now although saying all the right things the body language told a different story.....Been a while since a player left I was truly sorry to see go
Gordon Bennett 914 Posted September 1, 2015 IMO Johnson would hardly have played this season and has 5 or 6 other ahead of him in the pecking order. We got a bloody good price for him so a decent deal for all parties I''d say.Usual story of people sticking the boot into a new signing with very little first hand evidence to support it. Looking forward to seeing what he can contribute, probably not the best thing to judge him on appearances under Allardyce.
Hairy Canary 751 Posted September 1, 2015 I''m disappointed he''s gone and will miss his whole hearted displays but let''s get a bit of perspective here.Jarvis is not BJ''s replacement, Brady is. Jarvis is cover for Brady. We have pretty much swapped Johnson for Brady as far as transfer fees are concerned. We have been desperately short of authentic left sided midfielders for over a season now as Johno and Lafferty really have been square pegs in round holes trying to do a job out wide and it has been addressed at last.My guess is that Johnson saw that he wasn''t going to get much playing time wide left now that Brady is here and similarly could see the same happening with Mulumbu in the centre. We got £6m plus and he got a four year contract and regular first team football.I hope he does really well.
Herman 11,135 Posted September 1, 2015 Hooray some sensible posts at last tonight. Thanks some of you for restoring a bit of faith in our fans.
Rich T The Biscuit 676 Posted September 1, 2015 The only negative is not strengthening our centre half option. So in summary, we have got in:WisdomBradyJarvisMulumbuDorransMbokaniKeanThe midfield 4 give us plenty of experience in the PL and Mbokani might be brilliant but in the same token might not be, however, so many wanted us to be rid of RVW it has to be a positive move, he''s much better equipped for the PL style of football. We''ve lost:BJ for good money and doesn''t really fit our systemTurner who was never going to play and is past his bestRVW, well I think that''s been done to death.Yes would have been to have been rid of Grabban and maybe replace for Gayle but what we''ve done is improve the squad for not a lot of transfer fee (yes we''ll be paying loan fees and wages) but that means we have money available in January if needed, logically it will be but it''s there to use. Grant Holts Moustache 113 Posted September 1, 2015 Good piece of business completed there. We all loved his attitude and the way he went about the game, he was great last season but not quite good enough to be a regular in the premiership as we saw previously. As mentioned already he was way down the pecking order in the centre, was only back up to Brady and we now have a specialist back up in Jarvis. Derby are spending a lot in the hope of promotion and we got them to pay more than he is actually worth. No one else would of paid 6 to a potential 7.5m. GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,035 Posted September 1, 2015 I''d liken this to Andrew Crofts.....integral to a championship promotion campaign but when it came to it ,just didnt have the technical qualities to perform in the premier league.....difference is ,we didnt get £6m-7m for Crofts.like the OP ,I have no issue with the sale.......my only gripe is that we didnt re-invest this money in a centre half. Johnson clearly got to Derby in good time today, so we must have had a bit of time to act.....it seems that a desperate last ditch enquiry for Nedum Onouha was all we could muster? BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted September 1, 2015 The squad will be "missing" that certain something without Bradders in it. He has become a bit of a "Mr. Norwich City" in a way.I would never have believed that we would have got £5m, rising to £6.5m, for him in a million years though.I just hope that missing out on his hot shooting this season doesn''t prove more expensive. Capt. Pants 5,001 Posted September 1, 2015 Gutted BJ has gone but £6m is good business. Interesting to see what Howson''s role is going forward, or Jarvis for that matter. £110m MINIMUM next season if we stay up. Sorry but we haven''t tried hard enough, still no quality CB. Feeling underwhelmed.
