ruthers1 0 Posted June 23, 2015 Brilliant World Cup win against Norway tonight, storming second half comeback from a goal down. Quarter final next up against hosts Canada Sunday in front of 50,000 Canadians. Bring it on!
AJ 1,359 Posted June 23, 2015 A great strike for the winner too! Canada will be a tough match though!
Gainer the Gopher 0 Posted June 23, 2015 Too bad it''s not men''s football. Canada is terrible but their women are right up there pushing for the upper echelon.
Syteanric 1 Posted June 23, 2015 i''m starting to think England can do it....beat canada and its a semi final against either Japan or the USA. all beatable, Germany of course are the ones to topple. if England can start games how they played the 2nd half last night they will take some beating!Questions will be asked of the FA if they win the world cup.... but thats a debate for another time.Come on Girls!!! Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted June 23, 2015 USA and Germany are on a totally different level to everyone else - Japan managed to just about breach it last World Cup but couldn''t maintain it.If England were to win, it would be a bigger a shock than the men''s team winning the World Cup. They also muddled through a friendly against England earlier in the year.if they come up against another big side (England included) they will get found out massively. ruthers1 0 Posted June 23, 2015 Jas, you''re spot on re the USA, they''re there for the taking. Saw them get away with a draw against Norway earlier in the tournament (who we''ve just beat) and last night they only managed to overcome Columbia after they were reduced to 10 ''men''
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted June 23, 2015 USA are good at grinding out results and hard to break down, can''t see England beating them should they meet.England have hardly impressed so far, felt Norway were the better team last night, and the performances against Mexico and Colombia were hardly brilliant. However, I think everyone is playing to see who will get beat by the Germans in the final anyway.Hoping Japan can kick on tonight, but they aren''t the team they were 4 years ago, and everyone has got smart to them now. Germany seem weak against pace, run at the full backs and you might get some joy!

Norway reminded me very much of Stoke, Smack it as far up the pitch as you can as quickly as you can then use your muscle to keep it.England got wise to that 2nd half and (Goal apart) were much better... they passed Norway off the pitch. ruthers1 0 Posted June 23, 2015 You''re right, my mistake Jas. Germany were holding on in the second half against Norway so hope there too!
The ghost of Michael Theoklitos 0 Posted June 23, 2015 Speaking of the women''s world cup, I''m not sure if anyone has seen this from the Norwegian Team? Brilliant!http://home.bt.com/news/odd-news/spoof-video-mocks-womens-football-11363988404862
FCC 94 Posted June 23, 2015 I thought we got lucky - first half I saw a clear Norway penalty not given, which should also have been a red card. Fair play to the lass who stayed on her feet, but her honesty cost Norway. In fairness to us though, we had to make the most of that, and coming back from a goal down showed some bottle.
