Fer to return?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I would have the Fer back that we signed but not the Fer who had his creativity and enthusiasm taken out of him.

Fer is sub-par. He was sub-par for us, he was sub-par for QPR. He''s a b2b relegation specialist. Scoring a goal in a world cup doesnt give you the right to dawdle around the pitch for the rest of your career.

Overrated mercenary. Didn''t look particularly bothered about us getting relegated and certainly didn''t looked too concerned when QPR were struggling either. Brilliant player when he feels like it but not an Alex Neil sort of mentality and not a character we particularly need around the dressing room.

no..

Fer is the kind of player who''s only interested when the scouts/cameras are on him.. he couldn''t give a sh*t the rest of the time.

Bit like dixon Etuhu

Lot of people making judgements about his character without knowing anything about him.

He''s been relegated as many times as Bassong and Olsson and I don''t have issues with them is the Norwich squad.

He won''t be coming back to Norwich, and I always feel that its best not to go back to past players but Fer was QPR''s best player after Austin last season and was Norwich''s best player, for a while, in the relegation season.

An interesting thought.

If Fer was English would he have ever been selected for the England team, if only as sub?

Methinks not. It''s the effort v flair thing and it has gone back as long as the days when the likes of Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles and Tony Currie were given limited international exposure (31 full caps between them.)

Since ''66 little Holland has had more success in the World arena than us, that''s for sure. Is it because they never shun flair?

Georgie Best was not known for his "effort" when the ball was in the opposing half.

Not a defence or otherwise of Leroy Fer. Just a question.

I have an issue with filling the squad with yoyo relegation players, there''s a reason they get relegated!

I''m much more for hungry players wanting to prove themselves with a mix of experienced and loyal players.

I''m sure not many players want too many relegations on their cv.

Neil will certainly have his own list and if they all play for him he''s good enough manager to keep us up.

Would prefer Marco Marin he is avaliable as kansas are looking into him. If they are looking at him I''m sure he would rather play for us he is surplus to requirements at Chelsea.

Let''s not start the "hungry" player thing again. It is a word used to describe players mostly devoid of talent, but prepared to try hard. It''s not enough.
I have an issue with filling the squad with yoyo relegation players, there''s a reason they get relegated!
Yes, because in most cases the majority of the team isn''t good enough and no matter how well an individual may play in that side, the majority of the time they''re still going to lose. You could have put a player like Rooney at QPR or Burnley and they''d have still gone down, but that then doesn''t automatically make Rooney a bad player because of it.It all comes down to context, and in the case of Fer I genuinely believe that the guy is more than good enough for a top 10 prem team, but he made a poor choice with the QPR move IMHO and combining this with the frustration of playing under Hughton the year before, we''ve only seen flashes of his overall quality because it''s been overshadowed by numerous other factors. If a side like Swansea or Southampton had signed him instead of QPR, I think we''d have seen a much stronger season from the guy, but the question is whether or not he''s got the will for yet another relegation battle and on that score alone I''d say no, despite the fact that I think he''d probably be the best overall midfielder we''d have in the squad purely on a technical level...

And why do these teams not come in for the likes of Snodders Fer etc.? They end up at the likes of Hull, Bournemouth or Watford, the same old merry go round.

I''m not saying they are bad players but they end up changing teams nearly every season and never settling into a team. Time to gel?

I''m saying if we buy one or two relegated players fine but to be linked with so too many isn''t healthy in my opinion.

Take your point to a degree but a quality player can have a big impact to a lower standard squad.

It''s about balance and I''ll say it again, motivated player who want to give that effort for the team, not just picking up the wage knowing next year he''ll go to another team.

Yes if you had the money to replace them, most would be gone........but in this reality the team deserve their chance, on a side note this squad are on a high from promotion via play off but those relegated are looking again to jump ship.
