True Grit 26 Posted July 2, 2015 Yes, obviously the board have to get their cheque book out and offer decent contracts but there''s so much more than that needed in the modern game to attract top exotica. It''s about making a home from home for the player, creating a microcosm of their culture within the city walls. If we were to sign Pato for example, give funding to mercy for them turn the club into a Brazilian venue, stick Pato in one of the flats above it, get a samba band playing - the kid would be in his element. Stipulate all this in the contract before he signs, keep it watertight, show the kid we mean business.Totti has spent his while career at Roma, a prize player. Offer him the top of westlegate tower in his contract, noting the close proximity of bella Italia (1 minute walk). Stipulate in his contract that the club will pay for all his meals there. We all saw Thomas muller after winning the world cup, the guy loves a beer. Stadia has the traditional german beer bar downstairs, offer him a managerial/ambassadorial role at the venue, get him entrenched in the culture of it all.Ncfc need to use the assests of the city holistically in order to attract quality. We could offer Samir Nasri the most lucrative contract going, only to put him up in a 5 bed , detached in Dussendale, leaving him to his own devices - it just wouldn''t work. The whole ethos and philosophy of the club needs to change or we''re never going to attract top quality.
Display Name 0 Posted July 2, 2015 Christ if we did that I''d hate to see the contract negotiations if ever we were looking to sign Adam Johnson...
Kidderminster Exile 0 Posted July 2, 2015 Easy, re locate 80 miles south or 120 miles westIt would also be the death of the club.
93vintage 16 Posted July 2, 2015 The OP has in fact made a serious point. Whilst Norwich might suit European tastes in terms of culture and cuisine, we can''t and probably never will be able to compete with London. In comparison Norwich will therefore feel a lot less like home for many non-European international players.Besides slow transport links to the outside world being a problem, I''m not sure we want the city flooded with immigrants. Rich T The Biscuit 562 Posted July 2, 2015 As far as ludicrous posts go, this one is definitely up there with the best.Maybe we should put all French people up in North Norfolk little villages so they feel more at home, open a patisserie especially and let them come training when they feel like it, nice and laid back. Those from warmer climates can be put up on the coast so that they can go home after training and feel the sand between their toes and those from Africa can be out up near Kessingland so they can go to African Alive every day so they feel at home.Easier for the Americans we get, they can live in California, the Norfolk version.I think he could be on to something you know, and there was me thinking that money was the driver, when all this time it''s about now making them feel at home. True Grit 26 Posted July 2, 2015 Obviously money talks Rich T, but creating a home from home for high end imports is a necessity in order to attract them the club. It''s often the little things which make a big difference, especially to footballers. We all saw yaya''s reaction when man city forgot his birthday card.
