what a season!

I was 11 in 1992 and couldn''t tell my Ar*e from my elbow but knew we were onto something special! Dave Phillips goa is probably one of the best in premiership history yet never seen.

If we''d beaten united we''d have done it..  Momentum would have seen us over the line and we''d have been first ever champions... how different would it have been? where would we be now? Robert Chase would have been hailed a hero?

we will of course never know, it''s sad to think there''s a whole generation of fans who never saw us when we were one of the best teams in the country and probably never will...

To any fan 25 and younger make the most of EVERY premiership season and celebrate every victory like it''s the clubs first one ever... a long time ago we had it all in the palm of our hand.... we most likely wont ever again...

Norwich''s pinnacle of the late 80''s to early 90s was Mike Walker''s 18 month spell where we finished 3rd in the inaugral Premier League and subsequently had a very decent run in the UEFA cup.The post-Chase chopping and changing of playing style stunted development and robbed the club of its identity, so the quality from that era is yet to be surpassed. Norwich doesn''t even want to play in Europe any more, it''s all about the Premiership these days.Our sucess in the 1992-93 season was the product of consistency and

quality, coupled with a shrewd buying and selling policy. The later

helped fund development, and back then it was more about developing

players than it was about trying to buy success or seeking it via constantly changing

manager.It''s a shame that it''s often wrongly assumed that Walker was merely good at motivating Dave Stringer''s team, when in fact he added so much more in terms of tactics and strategy. Walker was helped enormously by a consistency of the style of football, something that Stringer is often given all the credit for.But those assigning all the credit to Stringer overlook the fact that Walker was an integral part of developing Norwich''s consistent way of playing for five years before taking the top job. As reserves manager he was at the middle level between youth and first team, and as much a part of the different levels playing the same way and maintaining technical quality as Stringer was.There used to be a good youtube channel (carrarud?) with lots of the goals from the 1992-93 season, but sadly it closed down for some reason. Funnily enough Nutty I thought the more influence David Williams had the more we became a team of Ray Wilkins and the rest was history.

I must say though David Williams was a mighty cultured player. That Arsenal away game was a great shock to us Bury chaps as we travelled down we were all convinced we were doomed.

Time has not changed us - 20 seconds left in the play off final and we were still up tight desperately pleading with the ref to blow his whistle ….. and we have the vid to prove it !!
