Jim Smith 2,314 Posted July 25, 2015 Why are some of our fans being so "tw**ish" over this. Snodgrass is a great player who will so very well for Hull next season. Most Hull fans also seem to genuinely rate Brady and say he was their best player in the second half of last season so describing him as a "squad player" and saying he will have to improve hugely to get a game for us just makes us look arrogant.Good business this for me because it fills two gaps in the squad. We needed left back cover and we needed a genuine winger on the left because as well as Johnson did there last season I can''t see that we will get away with playing him there all season in the prem. it''s really the equivalent of signing two players. Crabbycanary3 994 Posted July 25, 2015 Jim, the point is that, if this comes off, the both teams would be the winner, not just Hull. EPT hasn''t a clue what the values are in question, nor the final terms/amount agreed. Hull would be happy to get what they sell for, and we would be happy to pay that amount (whatever that is)EPT is trying to take the high ground , here, where there is none to be had. It''s just a normal transfer situation. Suddenly Brady is not quite the next Ronaldo, in his eyes, but a limited player, well you could apply that logic to anyone (e.g. Snoddy) . Like you said, a lot of Hull fans rate Brady. A lot of us rated Snodgrass.
city-till-i-die 7 Posted July 25, 2015 HITC SPORTS understands from sources close to the club that Norwich City have had an offer of £7million accepted by Hull City for Robbie Brady. The Canaries have identified the Republic of Ireland international as a top target this summer and have refused to give up the chase despite seeing several approaches knocked back. EPT.Sports 0 Posted July 25, 2015 Brady has never been the next Ronaldo, he only made 12 starts for us for god sake. I do rate Brady as a player but he''s frustrating at times. Then again anyone who saw the ROI internationals this summer would think Brady''s a world beater. He was brilliant in those two games but it''s just consistency he''s lacked. All I''m saying that the figure represents a very good deal for us. Last year of contract and no intention of signing a new one. I couldn''t be less bitter and I wish you all the best for the coming season. Sadly can''t really judge much with Snodgrass, seen him for 2 Europa League qualifiers and 40 mins against QPR. What''s interesting though is Bruce seems to be thinking about playing him in midfield and not on the wing.
EPT.Sports 0 Posted July 25, 2015 All I said was that we''d been demanding our fees upfront. It''s not usual no. I''ve attached a link toohttp://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-Steve-Bruce-says-Tom-Ince-integral/story-26761428-detail/story.html"As revealed by the Mail earlier this month, City are attempting to stave off Derby''s interest by asking for the £5m fee be paid up front in cash." whoareyou? 0 Posted July 25, 2015 So Hull need the cash upfront as they are in a desperate financial position then. [:P]None of us know the ins and outs of these transfers when there are such huge sums of money involved just for a footballer.

So I think he''s quite well suited to the no10 roll, a little like a Teddy Sheringham.

The only similarity Snoddy has with Sheringham is a lack of pace......he may do better in midfield where he can be involved all the time (as he likes to be). I really hope he does well, because I don''t like being negative about players and I would be delighted if he proves me wrong, especially after his long injury lay off. As for Brady, we have pursued him with such determination, as the way AN sets up the team, we are really lacking cover on the left hand side and with Olsson not ready yet, the issue was becoming urgent with the new season fast approaching. smooth 114 Posted July 25, 2015 Well don''t know what to expect if this signing comes offDon''t know how he is going to improve our team that much and I mean first 11. Has no real record that speaks for themselves.Priority is centre half and right back not a utility player. So we better have better calibre centre halves, strikers and right backs on our radar now as Brady is not a signing that makes me feel like he is going to be a massive part of us staying up.But AN must think so. But not a signing that. I or many are clearly excited about.
Katie Borkins 1 Posted July 25, 2015 I think Snodgrass would do well in the centre of midfield, particularly in the Championship. I would like to have seen him playing just off the main striker.
wcorkcanary 4,329 Posted July 25, 2015 Just been announced on Newstalk Radio Ireland that this is a done deal. Lets see if they are right.
AJ 1,218 Posted July 25, 2015 Apparently on his way to Norfolk for a medical.Bit disappointed with the £7m figure, but he''s an international and has experience at this level and will give us competition at left back and a much needed option of a left winger
wcorkcanary 4,329 Posted July 25, 2015 I Doubt that its £7m cash in a carrier bag, but Hull will want to make it look as good as possible, so it may total 7mill if we stay up, if he plays enough games etc etc.
Horse Renoir 1 Posted July 25, 2015 Sweet! I can guarentee we''ll sell him for more than we paid and i genuinely think he''s a really useful player. Needs to work on his decision making in the final third maybe and his close control isn''t amazing but aside from that he''s a very dangerous player going forwards. He''s twice the player Mings is at least. Here''s something scary though, just 3 years ago we bought goalscoring, young, complete midfielder Howson (Also a captain) for just 2 million. It''s absolutely insane how much Championship players are going for at the moment.I reckon Howson would cost us 10 Million in todays market at least. I''m really pleased we''ve landed Brady but 7 Million for a player from a championship club? Come on!!!
wcorkcanary 4,329 Posted July 25, 2015 Hulls argument will ,of course be , that they may be a championship club but he''s a premier league player, also an international....although for a pretty small team.
Indy 3,283 Posted July 25, 2015 He''s not worth 7 million but then in reality what player is?Strengthens our left side, but as a winger lacks pace and guile from what I''ve seen of him. Might just turn out out to be the next Drury.Well that''s one target of its completed what chances for Dick Van Dyke from Celtic next?
Horse Renoir 1 Posted July 25, 2015 Have you really seen him play Indy? He''s probably be our quickest player!
Mickdundee 0 Posted July 25, 2015 No chance is he faster than Redmond or the murphlings
Indy 3,283 Posted July 25, 2015 Yes a few times the last game the international v Scotland. He''s not that fast. Yes not every week but enough to know he''s not an out and out winger by any stretch. That said he and Bennett the other side could play wing backs.Like I said never worth what we have reported to have paid but then Mings isn''t worth 8 million either, just market price for younger mid talented players. BroadstairsR 2,138 Posted July 25, 2015 There''s an unusual air about this signing amongst us posters, it would seem. Here we have a £7 million outlay for the Club, our second highest transfer out fee ever yet most, if not all, of us seem slightly lukewarm about it all. One only has to remember and compare with the furore surrounding the Wolfswinkle signing to arrive at this conclusion.Damned by some as just an over-priced utility player with a limited goals and assists count and a somewhat speckled injury record, he is not seen as one who should be top of the list of our priorities at this moment in time.Even Hull supporters are not, by and large, crying in their beer over losing him and cite another (Robinson?) as a better prospect in any case. Both mangers have been less reticent though. Steve Bruce with his over-valuations and desire to keep him and Alex Neil with his tenacity in pursuit of his goal.As a bit of a happy I am tending to lean towards the plus side and my mind is now emphasising his age, his Premier League and international experience, his left-sidedness and his growing reputation as being salient plus points. Also, the over-inflated state of the market now (and we all cite the Mings transfer to indicate this) seems to have become something we are having to get more and more accustomed to by the season. In that awards interview in this, or the other thread, he seems to come over as a very level-headed, self-assuming character who will likely be a good one to have aboard Alex Neil''s ship. A ''thoroughly good sort,'' as we used to say in the Bullingham Club.Clearly no "Big-time Charlie, along with his reputation for applying himself add more to my positive opinion of this purchase. AJ 1,218 Posted July 25, 2015 Find it a bit odd Hull have him listed as a Striker on their website!
The Great Wall Of Tettey 0 Posted July 25, 2015 He''s not overly fast but he''s direct, tricky and takes the defender on. similar to mcgeady at Everton id say, hugs the byline and likes to get balls in the box. 7 million is a lot of money but in the current over inflated market 1 decent season in the prem and he''s well worth that. ......and Smith must score. 1,334 Posted July 25, 2015 [quote user="EPT.Sports"]Brady has never been the next Ronaldo, he only made 12 starts for us for god sake. The money paid for players now is quite silly but with the Premier League awash with cash it can only get worse. To be honest I think Norwich look a bit silly when they come in with stupidly low bids of £2-3m as they know full well they''re not going to get someone like Brady for anything like that.Snodgrass is an interesting one. It was a real sickener for you when he suffered that bad injury right at the start of the season. I''m pleased that he appears to be happy to stay at Hull which probably won''t be the case with Leroy Fer our other high profile departure who went to QPR. Snodgrass is a very good player but for us frustrating at times as everything had to channel through him but if he can reproduce the form he showed for us he should do very well in the Championship. Guest Posted July 25, 2015 Seems a lot, especially as we reportedly started bidding at £2million. But if he helps keep us in Premier League then he''ll be worth it. We were lacking specialist left-sided players having failed to properly replaced both Pilks and Surman last year, and with Garrido now gone too it was a hole waiting to be filled. 93vintage 16 Posted July 25, 2015 As I posted in another thread, with two rounds of increased tv money the total has almost tripled since 2011. Hence divide by 3 is a good rule of thumb to work out what players are worth at 2011/12 prices.Brady is worth about £2.4m on this basis, which I think is a bit on the high side. havemyhowsonit 0 Posted July 25, 2015 Can''t see where most of you are coming from on this. Brady is a great player. Well worth £7 million Premiership quality ain''t cheap but to me £7 million is peanuts now. Bargain
