Smallest squad for many years?

I believe we''re about 3 players short of the squad we had last year, and most people regarded that as small. So, I was wondering if any of you NCFC anoraks/statisticians can tell me if this is the smallest squad for many years, or have City been as short of bodies in more recent times?

I think it''s more relevant to compare the squad size with the others in the chamionship this year rather than opposed to when we were in the Premiership.

I think all clubs'' squads at all levels have got smaller over the past few years - it''s the financial pressures: better to have fewer better quality players than lots of average ones. It''s only a few years ago when I think we had over 30 players, but many never got a game. One advantage is that Academy players get into the reserves sooner, so have a better chance to stake their claim for a first team place... not that we''ve been prolific at giving Academy players pro contracts in the last few years!
