What was Inter Milan game like?

Recommended Posts

What did you think of the match? What was the attendance? I spoke to a chap in The Kings Arms on Hall Rd, and he told me he left the ground early in disgust at the constant booing of Francis every time he touched the ball. Was this the case, or was he exaggerating? Yesterday I was advocating booing, but hearing his arguments against it, I''ve changed my mind completely. I can now see how it could spoil others enjoyment of a game. I''m still in favour of booing hate-figures in the opposing team, however.

It was.. alright. The attendence was just over 25,00 but the atmosphere was a bit lacking. It was funny when Damo came on, loads of people booed and continued to do so when he touched the ball, but then some other sections of the crowd made a point of standing up and clapping him to try and counter the boo boys.

It didnt work though.

The game was pretty slow. I think we were trying to beat them at their own game by passing it around our defence for most of the game. I''d be suprised if the Gary Doherty doesnt get signed up to a big italian club I dont think Adriano had ever seen anything like it. Shirt pulling, kicking his heels, the ginger pele had a good go..

As for the other new boys, Thorne looked OK but is a bit too similar to Deano in style to get much going and huckerby was just running around anywhere towards the end.

Jarrett looked a good solid player. Will do well for us.

MLJ and Colin both looked alright. LJ looks very quick and colin just reminded me of Kenton a bit too much.

I thought Hendo looked ok but as soon as he made a mistake, there was a few moans. Give the boy a chance!

I agree - give Hendo a chance.

However i thought Colin looked potentially fantastic.

Shackell was superb. Huckerby reminded me how he''ll be having a laugh in the fizzy league. Ashton didn''t quite make the mark.

Biggest surprise was Charlton - he was very comfortable in midfield. Won loads of balls, passed well, and had a couple of shots too !

City played well. Oh and everytime Francies touched the ball, I cheered at the top of my vioce. So did some men in front of us. I was really cross with the booers. And it could have affected the other players too. Love you Damo!

I''m not surprised Charlton looked comfortable in midfield - he''s an experienced skilful and intelligent professional; glad to see he''s back among the chosen ones again. When Safri comes back we''ll have a very good midfield, albeit short of specialist wingers. I''m starting to get worryingly optimistic...

well, sounds positive all over, pity about the Damien Francis saga being carried on into the game and being booed, must have ruined it for everyone, as for Hendo so for him, why moan, hes young, he will learn give him a chance!

Lots of positives all over, and we have our own little fabregas (only better), trust me, it wont be long till rossi jarvis is in the first team squad

As one would expect there were some positives & negatives. Negatives - Fleming should not be in the first team, Doherty is still too slow but he put himself about well and got better as the game went on - but neither can hold a candle to Shackell. When he came on he just looked every inch a leader and potential star. Strong, decisive, quick, authoritative. Henderson and Charlton playing out of position - Hendo tried but is not a right winger and Charlton showed Francis (and perhaps one or two others) what committment, hard work and professionalism is all about, but sadly he is not a central midfielder however well he played last night.Positives - Jarrett looked good (but was obviously playing below full throttle) and Colin looked very comfortable on the ball (very quick as well - great run into attack!). Louis Jean looked better than Hendo on the right of midfield and I thought this set up seemed to work well (apart from the awful back pass). Ashton, Huckerby, McKenzie & Thorne were okay but there is more to come. The real revelation for me was Rossi Jarvis in central midfield - he was assured, positive, showed good control and vision and looked as if he could make the crossover into first team football.
