This is why we going up!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Over the last 7 seasons to ensure automatic promotion (finishing second) a team needs 89 points. This has averaged at Home: 16W 4D 3L Away: 10W 7D 6L. Total: 26W 11D 9L

Currently we have 53 pts: We therefore require 36 points from our 18 last fixtures.

If we keep winning then there is no issue.

But if we lose 7 matches then it’s all over.
6 matches we must win 12
5 matches we must win 11
4 matches we must win 11
3 matches we must win 11
2 matches we must win 10
1 matches we must win 10
0 matches we must win 9

In the same way I have done the same with all teams that have a realistic chance to be automatically promoted : West Brom, Sheffield United, Sunderland, Ipswich, Wigan, Preston, West Ham, Reading, Cardiff, Millwall.

The format is points needed to reach 89 pts, Number of matches lost to be all over, minimum matches to win. Example Norwich: 36 Pts, 7 and is all over, 9 minimum wins.

Here are the results:

West Brom 38 pts, 6 and it’s all over, 11 minimum wins
Sheffield Utd 40 pts, 6 and it’s all over, 11 minimum wins
Sunderland 42 pts, 5 and it’s all over, 12 minimum wins
Ipswich 43 pts, 4 and it’s all over, 13 minimum wins
Wigan 43 pts, 4 and it’s all over, 13 minimum wins
Preston 46 pts, 3 and it’s all over, 14 minimum wins
West Ham 47 pts, 3 and it’s all over, 15 minimum wins
Reading 47 pts, 3 and it’s all over, 15 minimum wins
Cardiff 48 pts, 3 and it’s all over, 15 minimum wins
Millwall 49 pts, 2 and it’s all over, 16 minimum wins

There is 18 games to go ( except Sheffield United playing Derby next Wednesday), and we are in a very good position when we look at the other teams. By the end of February teams like Preston, Cardiff, Reading, should all drop out of the race. These teams cannot afford to lose many games and have to win plenty.

Our key matches for the next month are Sheffield United and West Ham at home. Winning these two matches and we can make sure that the race for autamatgic promotion is between 3 or 4 teams. By the time we play Ipswich, it should be a two horse race. Norwich and ????.

Premiership here we come.................
