Goal of the season?

Recommended Posts

It''s been a great season of entertaining, attacking football that brought us 88 goals, many of which were true gems. I wonder which of that 88 you think was the best or meant the most for you, and why.

My personal pick is Jerome''s back heel flick against Nottingham Forrest at CR, for its sublime simplicity,

Bradley''s left-footed screamer vs. Ipswich

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTZf1gZctyg

and our brilliant team goal (tapped in by Jerome) vs Derby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAe_Pp5_CYo (from 1:00)

being close runner-ups.

It''s over to you. What would be you pick/s?

For team inter-play/build-up I''d go for Nathan''s strike last week, but Martin''s goal v Brighon and any number of Jonno''s goals would be in there too (binners, Blackburn (x2)) + Jerome scored with some nice hits too.

Redmond''s goal in the play-off final was pretty amazing, not just the technique he showed but the steady build-up play in a high tension game.

Martin''s strike against Brighton is probably the best individual goal though - lovely hit.

So many to choose from this year! I loved Cam''s backheel and he scored some decent long rangers, Johnno has scored some beauties - Watford at home, Reading away,Blackburn at home, and of course against the scum. Russ Martin''s belter, Whittakers last minute volley vs Derby away, Hooper''s incredible finish at Bolton away.

For me though, it has to be either Martin''s screamer, Redmond''s goal at Wembley, or Hooper''s stunning volley at Rotherham away.

Redmonds for me last week, purely for build up play, in the situation they were in. Absolutely sublime. 17 passes for the goal, not many Prem teams scored as good a goal as that, last season

Bradders at Blackburn, because of the belief that we could go on, and Martin''s for a great piece of technical ability

So that''s 3 goals of the Season!

All of above, plus Hoopers last minute goal at Bolton away just for the sheer ecstasy it released amongst both players and fans, amazing scenes and our belief restored that we would go on get promotion somehow.

We scored some great goals, Wes & Howson at Millwall, Jerome at Cardiff, Jerome at Bournemouth in addition to all the other contenders, But overall I would go for Bradleys super strike against 1p5wich because it was against them !

Russell Martin''s goal against Brighton was brilliant and pretty sure it won some award for Championship goal of the season, maybe i''m wrong?

Johnson''s pile driver against the scum will live long in the memory, not only a was it a great goal but to do that against them was perfect.

Redmond''s in the play-off final was a great team goal rounded off with an exquisite finish as well.

I cannot remember a season where we have scored so many quality goals.

Cameron Jerome''s goal at Bournemouth. It galvanised our season, beating the league leaders with 10 men in front of the new manager.

The goals Johnson and Redmond scored this season were a stark contrast to the lack of

goals in the premiership last time out. Yes, you can blame the manager

if you want, but both players'' shooting in previous seasons has been

wayward, in Johnson''s case, since 2011.   Both these players really

found their shooting boots this season, Johnson under Adams first and

then Redmond too later on.  Nearly every goal they have scored has been quality.   The comeback against Blackburn was special and Johnson''s winning goal there was something else.  My favourite though has to be Redmond''s decisive second goal at Wembley.  His form was the difference in the play offs and that goal was one of the best goals I''ve ever seen from a Norwich team, let alone individual player - the build up was fantastic, but the time and space he created for himself, the touch and the composure and the finish were sublime.

Mine in reverse order are, and leaving aside scum bashing,

3. Cameron Jerome v Bournemouth; a season changing goal and game in every respect

2. Martins strike - Top quality

1. Redmonds promotion clincher; the stage, the importance of the game, the movement, the passing, the vision, the touch, the finish, the unadulterated joy..

So many belters! I''m tied between Redmonds in the playoff final after the Barcelona style football and Johnno''s thunderbastard to sink the scum, probably the fastest shot i''ll ever see in my life!

Redmond''s edges it i think, in the words of everyones favourite DJ, "That was liquid football!"

So many great goals this season. Its really hard to pick just one! Redmond''s goal at Wembley had real quality through the build upand finish. Johnson''s goal against the binners right in front of my blankets vantage point meant so much. But I think my personal fav was Martins goal, also right in front of me, against Brighton. A fantastic strike that also resulted in a good win on Rays Funds.

In my opinion Redmond''s goal at Wembley was Norwich at its best - though I missed it live as I was talking to my son and looking away from the pitch.

My other favourite was Murphy''s goal at Blackpool - it was very well taken - but it was the potential for the future that was most appealing.

I bet we could have a goal of the season competition to rival the premiership with just our goals! Obviously Jamar Lozas 98th minute screamer against Huddersfield would have to figure highly on that list!

Many great candidates, let me add two more that are also worthy of any shortlist. Hooper''s 96th min winner away to Bolton. A brilliant route one goal in three deft touches. Bassong''s fine long ball is perfectly headed on in Hooper''s path by Jerome  then you''d think Hooper would lose control after his first touch to back-volley it completely unexpectedly past the keeper in his fall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWFw80K7vxA   (from 3:45)Then there is the tight Hoolalan-Howson combination before Howson scores vs Nottingham at CR. As if in a chess puzzle where Yellow moves, and checkmates in two.I love how the two of them make complete idiots of five defenders and the keeper.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6BZ9c0E6pE

2 of the 4 goals at Milwall were extra good, Howson beating 2 players travelling 30 yards and the a 20 yard shot to put us 1 up. The Wes doing his magic and beating 2 players, (one falling over as mesmerised) and shooting across the keeper,
