Very touching and admirable though this is - it shouldn''t be forgotten that back in 2000 before the grant funding arrived for the club the NCFC board had issued the old Football in the Community team with notice to get out of the football club and find their own home!

Good job they learned from their mistakes hey ruthers?

If only you were to make a mistake ruthers, you might offer a more positive post..............

It wasn''t a mistake Crabby, it was the fact they had to support the FITC themselves at that time.

If you honestly think they would be doing it now without the funding you are seriously deluded my friend.

Thanks for the link Nutty. The club and associates are doing great work. Long may it continue.

Great to hear this kind of stuff about the club and it isn''t just tokenistic like at some clubs.   Good presentation too, which was made for the League Awards malarky,

although putting at the end "voiced by Stephen Fry" doesn''t necessarily

help imo.  Sometimes a low key approach is better when you want to

impress about something - after all the important thing is the work

being done, not the presenter presenting it.   Derby won the award, I wonder what they are doing that''s seen as better.....

And Lakey, we can be proud of our club and what we achieve while also recognising how others serve their communities well too. In Derby''s case with the Derby County Community Trust.

They may have picked up stuff from us, who knows, but they deserve to be congratulated and I noticed the CSF sent their congratulations immediately after the award was announced.

As for Stephen Fry I think we are lucky that the owners and directors all "get" community and buy into the club''s community responsibilities. I''m proud of them all.

Agreed, its great to see clubs doing loads of stuff for the community.  Agree about Stephen Fry too - my point about him was more to do with the video presentation in regards to the awards committee and whether it helped having his voice over being highlighted as if it would somehow lend weight to their cause.  The video stands up for itself and who was doing the voice over was irrelevant.  Fine to use him as a voice over, not so fine to highlight it. Minor point, I know, but things like that can irritate panels/committees when judging presentations.

Thanks for sharing that video with us Eddie, really heart rendering lump in the throat stuff. The work the CSF do in conjunction with the club is absolutely wonderful and for people who like me weren''t aware of all the hard work they do, please look at their website, you ll be amazed. We really should be proud!

But if you haven''t got time this sums it up '''' Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) helps over 20,000 people every year achieve their goals through sport, supporting some of the most disadvantaged, disabled and talented people across Norfolk.

See as much as there are ups and downs in football it is always refreshing to see a positive attitude towards the community and life as a whole, I am not some sort of theological type or idealist but at the end of the day we all have more pressing issues to deal with in day to day life, however much our team means to us, so a (lets face it) profitable organisation giving a d*mn about other people is always a pleasing thing to see. I was so impressed to hear about (admittedly on f*cebook, so truth or not is questionable) Leicester giving a free season ticket to an old chap who''s partner has passed away, lets face it £300-£400 is nothing to a prem club and it is nice to see some clubs, including us, still respect the moral values of life occasionally!
