Tetteys Jig 830 Posted April 21, 2015 Sad to see that there are none of our home grown players featuring in this article of 35 of the most promising youth players:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11552106/The-top-35-hottest-prospects-in-English-football-in-pictures.html?frame=endScreen

Nexus_Canary 1,013 Posted April 21, 2015 Law of averages say 5 of those players will be in the Prem in 3 years time 25 will be floating around Championship and below and 5 will have retired to work in phone shops. All the Chelsea players wont be at Chelsea and all the Man City lads will be bench warming eagerly waiting for a chance.Well, we wall saw Bamford for starters, I think he would make a good actor though. I reckon he will be a panto star rather than prem star in the future.
Molly Windley 76 Posted April 22, 2015 Until I looked into his career I thought that Bamford was a Chelsea youth product. In fact he was at Nottingham Forest until the age of 18 and had made his first team debut. Along came Chelski who waved a £1.5 million cheque in debt ridden Forests direction and a better contract at Master Bamford. Its a bit galling when you hear that he is a Chelsea youth product, he is not, he is a product of Nottingham Forest, MK Dons, Derby and Middlesboro. Looking at his Wiki page he appears to have only spent 6 months at Chelsea since his move from Forest at the age of 18 and has been on loan since then. Bamford joined Forest at 8 years old and is now 21, so around 5% of his development was at Chelsea. There is little doubt that Chelsea`s academy is run as a for profit operation. They buy in as much future talent as they can from other teams youth squads and play the market hoping their investments will increase in value. To offset costs they loan out these players to other teams who both pay the players wages, coach them, give them playing opportunities and first team experience. At one point this season they had 30 players out on loan, that is abuse of the system on a major scale. Chelsea do not care whether a player makes it to their first team or not, its buying in the best talent early and cheaply with sell on values all that they are interested in. They are not interested in nurturing talent thats on the fringe of the first team, the ones that need a few sub appearances to be eased in and brought on, Matic is a prime example of that. They buy up young talent which they farm out or players that will slot straight into the first team. The whole youth loan market needs looking into, its being abused by everyone. As for the list of prospects, some players make it, some don''t, its impossible to tell who will or wont make it.
