kentcanary 0 Posted February 15, 2015 Turner not injured and not even on the bench. Is Cuellar really the better defender? We seem to have gone from having a glut of centre halfs to few of merit. Indy_Bones 441 Posted February 15, 2015 Turner''s ''problem'' has always been his lack of pace, which is why Bassong worked fairly well with him as he has the pace to try and cover Turner if needed, but the modern game is getting more and more to the point where BOTH centre halves need to be fairly quick as well as being strong and good in the air.He''s a capable enough defender but does struggle against any striker with real pace and skill and he''s not getting any younger either (although neither is Cuellar to be fair).I''d much rather we looked to the future with Bennett and Miguel even if Turner is ahead of either of them in terms of reading the game through his experience.
