Premiership Striker on Loan

Recommended Posts

Don''t think there''s too many about at the minute, possibly Sagbo from Hull? Doesn''t seem to get much of a look in.

Danny Graham is another one who isn''t around playing regularly. Don''t know how much they would add to our team but they would be solid as cover for Jerome and Hooper.

Palace also seem to have an abundance of strikers; Murray, Campbell, Ameobi, Sanogo, Gayle and Chamakh. If they have nothing to play for soon maybe one of them?

It''s all just shouting names at the minute though!
Arsenal are looking to loan Akpom out, he is talented but massively raw so not sure he would add a lot.

He does have pace to burn though and when Redmond is out of the side Norwich do lack a real ''speedster''.
Redmond can''t be described as a speedster though Bethnal. He has good pace over 10 yards which is why he is great at creating space in tight spots and dashing past people from a standing start but beyond that he struggles in a longer foot race. Grabban and Murphy have proper speed from what I can see. Neither of whom are in the side at the mo of course too. Akpom could be a good shout though.

You''d have thought we were in a good position to get a decent loanee in if we want one - the only problem is whether there would be an expectation from the parent club that he''d play each game: for example, Akpom could be a good shout but not necessarily for our current formation, though that would change.

I guess the question is what we need the loan for - is it partly to make up the attacking options while Grabban is out? If so, it doesn''t ''need'' to be a certain starting XI player (hence the link with the Leeds guy).

Considering our current formation, if we get a loanee striker in will he replace Jerome or join Hooper on the bench?

I think a loanee will be about adding options to the formation and system.

Both Jerome and Hooper play fairly central and want to be in or around the 6 yard box most of the game - Grabban was much better at moving into the channels and stretching the play. This was very evident against Wigan where both Jerome and Hooper (for 45 mins) were pretty static, given the players on the ball few options.

Bringing someone in with a different skills set would be incredibly useful, someone more prepared to pull wide and drop deep. Although Jerome did show an improvement in this side of his game against Derby compared to the previously mentioned Wigan game.

Before he was injured Grabban was keeping both Jerome and Hooper on the bench, a loanee might jump straight into the first team.
