"CITY can confirm Head of Football Recruitment Barry Simmonds has left the Club with immediate effect.

The Club would like to thank Barry for his efforts this season and the

search for a new person to head up Norwich City’s player recruitment

operation is already underway."
Neil Adams to return maybe?
I would have thought Adams would be more keen to keep his hand in, on the coaching side of things.

Doesnt sound very amicable. Maybe paying the price of poor business in the January transfer window and subsequent issues in the loan market?

There was a difference of opinion at the last meting.

Ginger nuts or short breads.

As usual BIG DM won so they didn''t have either.

Resignation obviously followed.

Forget Jan what about the pile of c@ck he accumalated for us in the summer at inflated prices

Lafferty

Voo

San Miquel

2 x semi retired C/halves

McGrandles

None used on a regular basis - all wasted cash (at least £8/10M - Chicken will confirm)

Filled Fulham up with over the top over paid hasbeens - would have done it to us if he has been here any longer - who recruited him needs medical help - dumped by Fulham as soon as they were relegated - good ridance Barry

The ever revolving door for the backroom set up at Colney shows no sign of slowing down since the season got under way....Joe Royle, Mark Robson, Neil Adams and now Barry Simmons.

These guys rely on success as much as anyone else in Football. Bag a couple of bargains and you make a name for yourself. Simmonds just followed the well trodden path of people who didn''t come up with the goods, and this might mean that DM had bigger expectations than has been realised in this window. Ewan Chester went the same way . You can believe that Chester went for "personal reasons" (and then turned up at Brighton)  , or you might think the financial disaster that was Wolfswinkel played a part.

What is interesting about his departure is that they just devoted 6 pages on him in the Canary magazine (spring 2015) which is telling us what a great job he has done since joining in the summer, so something big has happened, doubt we will ever know ?

Alex probably asked for his recommendations, which he then ignored going by Simmonds''s previous rubbish. Barry then resigned after Alex gave him his truthfull assessment of his said rubbish....

Am I the only one who wonders what is going on behind the scenes to have all these people leaving? Clearly it''s not rats leaving a sinking ship because we''re on the up.

I said all along once Adams left there would be big changes. This system was put in place for Adams and McNally thought it was the right way.

Now it is right to have a normal system. Gutted about mike phelan, but no question things are now right for AN and for the future.

The "Norwich way" thing has been tried twice now in the last six years with the Gunn dream team and then the Adams dream team.   Neither was a complete failure - even Gunn''s tenure had some positive impact in wiping clean the club of  loanees, so when Lambert came in he had a squad to work with - and Gunn got us Grant Holt.   Adam''s tenure was not as dramatic a failure in terms of results s Gunn''s, but it fell short of what was required in terms of best use of the squad.  But........it led the way for Alex Neil.   So as much as the Norwich way has not worked as well as desired, it has been the catalyst for a dramatic up turn in both cases.     As Smooth says, the system created for Adams is no longer necessary and is pretty much defunct as a plan  - the route forward is having a strong manager and positivity on the field.

Shackell
He was forced to sign loanees at that time as that was his only option.   When the crisis of relegation to League 1and possible financial meltdown was a danger, a financial package was put in place to enable us to buy a few players and he was able to get rid of all the loanees.
