The perfect man for the job

Recommended Posts

I''m delighted that the board have finally seen sense and appointed a young talented ambitious manager again like Alex Neil. I imagine David McNally had a far bigger influence on the decision this time than in Adams'' appointment, and he has proven his worth yet again by picking an outstanding candidate who was overlooked by most of the media and fans.

His record with Hamilton is superb and the progress he has achieved in only 2 seasons, shows he has the ability to make an immediate impact. Hamilton have one the smallest wage budgets in the SPL and his ability to get players to play beyond their own abilities is very reminiscent of Paul Lambert.

Listening to the interview with McNally he sounds like a convincing appointment. Let''s hope he can replicate his success in Scotland with us, young and hungry is always a good attribute IMO

not sure he is the perfect man for the job but he is a good choice and the best of the available options.

Now we know David McNally''s username on this message board. Anyone can talk a good game. Neil has to bring in his own players and this will take more than one January transfer window. We can only judge him after two seasons. That means probably no promotion till 2017.

He''s only ever managed one club, This is totally new for him. Sometimes it clicks, others it doesn''t. Give him time to learn as he grows. This must be quite daunting for him. It''s 50/50 whether he sinks or swims , but with time he''ll learn and become a better manager in time.

I can''t see any negatives to be honest. Personally he ticks all the boxes, he is extremely well regarded, the players at his last club liked him so much he had to meet with them to say goodbye, his style of play is exactly the same as what Lambert''s was, we know our players respond to this type of character etc

A lot of us wanted Eddie Howe, well this guy could be the next one. First job in management at a tiny club just outside the relegation zone with no money to spend he gets them through the play offs and up to the top of the table, in their top league against much bigger sides all through his coaching and managerial skill. Money chucking shysters like Redknapp couldn''t do that!

I can''t wait for him to start impacting this team

It''s alright being a young and hungry manager that doesn''t take any cr@p

But if you ain''t good enough or out of your depth (in this case)

It counts for nothing but a big pat on the back saying well you tried but next manager please. ( in this case)

To be fair to the guys he''s done wonders with nothing.

Well your first para we know to be true, so that''s a big tick.

The rest of it, whether he will be out of his depth, none of us know. So it''s just a matter of whether you wait and see with some optimism, or sit picking your nose and grumble,

until we find out.😄

It''s up to you really

With this ''young and hungry'' meme it''s clear that Norwich have become nothing more than a Paul Lambert tribute act. We''ll spend years trying to emulate Lambert by looking for Rob Roy characteristics in every new manager, moving from one to another after each failure. Meanwhile the real Lambert will become regarded in the same way as his mentor Martin O''Neill, an archaic one trick pony whose only merit is their motivational skills. As a club we''ve gone from focussing on football to worshipping character and personality.

He will be ultimately judged upon one thing and one thing only..........results.Whether he can smoke cigars like John Bond or pronounce sitchuachun like Worthy is of no import.Like every other manager in NCFC history he will be judged by his results.Everything else is bullshit.

Hughton wasn''t judged on results, neither was Adams because in all honesty 7th by this stage in the season is okay for a relegated club. He will be judged by the level of competency he shows in coaching and organising the team.

Hughton got results but there was always an element of luck or last chance saloon about it but our weakness'' we''re glaringly obvious and everyone could spot them. We knew that his luck would run out one day, he couldn''t win every last chance he got. Same with Adams we got some good results and huge wins, but everyone can see how vulnerable we are in places, how static and un-inventive we are and we had the foresight to see he wasn''t taking us anywhere.

It''s not all about results. If we see the team is playing 100% and we''re playing the right way, poor results will be excused as ''bad luck'' or we''d blame the referee because if we''re managed correctly and giving 100% we''d only ever lose to an obviously better side or due to bad luck/decision making.

My hope is that Neil gets us playing to our potential, if he does that we won''t have to worry about results because they''ll take care of themselves!

I''m also pleased with the appointment, watched the press conference earlier and thought he came over really well, is young, hungry, will be tough and sounds ambitious. Plus most importantly I could understand him, unlike Mr Lambert [:$]
Hope that everyone gets behind him , I''m sure he''ll get a great welcome at our next home game from our wonderful fans

I think you have a hint of a point there Darth. Ricky is surely right that ultimately all that counts is results, but undoubtedly it was the syle of play that certainly seemed to effect public opinion on Adams. Without digging up old skeletons, on the face of it if you were judging Adams by results, on the end of a 5 game run of League game delivering 10 points, it''s suggests there''s a bit more to it than results. This of course assumes tha Neil was gently eased out rather than walking voluntarily.

Jenkins I am sure that there is a point somewhere in that mass of gabble / rubbish

Results are the key - performance second - we need the results

When was the last time Norwich sacked a manager because even tho the results were good the performance was poor

We aint Barcelona ?

Tell u when NEVER
