1. Has Pete got a moustache? I thought that was just for Movember!
2. Good post Patches. I for one was so looking forward to see RVW replicate the form he had shown on the YouTube clips we all saw, and expected him to score a few goals for us. For what ever reason he has failed miserably in that regard but as you say is it all his fault? One question that has bothered me all season is why did we spend more than 13m on two players that can''t seem to play in the same team? Surely some of that money would have been better spent on acquiring a decent No10, someone with the creativity to set up the chances for RVW. Is that was McNally was alluding to when he said last summers transfer dealings were disastrous? I personally hope that we keep him and he can prove all the doubters wrong. My biggest issue though is do we have a manager now in charge who will be able to bring out the best in him? Mind you he can''t do any worsen I suppose! Anyway good post Patches! OTBC
3. Yep, his quarterly attempt at moderation!
4. Saw him interviewed a couple of weeks ago on btsports, he said he really does not miss footie and was unsure if he would ever play again. Has his bar business and a couple of things on the go as well.
5. Just said on Vital football (I know just a rumour site) that he is on our radar.
6.
I wanted Orient to win. I always assiciate promotion with playing them. In fact in my time I think each of the four times we''ve been in the same division we were promoted. Still we''ve alweays got the season ending in 5 stat to look forward to... 2004/5 Relegated 1994/5 Relegated 1984/5 Relegated 1974/5 Promoted. But as 74/5 was the only one directly after a relegation I''m seeing it as a positive omen[8-|]
The one problem I see with those stats Nige is there seems to be far to many relegations. It couldn''t happen again could it? Ah no of course not, we now have a highly experienced manager in charge who''s knowledge of the championship is renowned, not to mention his experience on the transfer front. But of course we''re going to have a fabled Technical Director to help lead us to the promised land! OTBC
7. Hib''s messed up big time there, home ground advantage should have seen them through. But or play off system I think is better, and the fans get a day at Wembley whereas there''s only the chance of cup finals otherwise, and let''s face it, the way our recent managers have taken a cup run we''ll never get there.
8. I''m sure his surname is just an amalgamation of two of confectionery''s. Mmm what ever happened to Toffo''s???
9. Mmmmm and there''s me thinking O''Neil was ROI manager. Did I miss something?
10. I also think the Mackay problem may relate to bringing in his No2 from Cardiff, was his name Mooney or summit like that.
11. Appreciate that point but to leave this season in charge to a man with no experience is beyond me. Sorry no axe to grind with Adams, but the board are unbelievable in making this appointment, the Champ''s is the hardest league to get out of so a more experienced man IMO was definitely needed. Yes make him assistant manager so he can see first hand what it takes but to make him the main man is indefensible!
12. Well let''s get Neil Armstrong as manager, at least his names got a Neil in it!
13. Mind you, had Ruddy gone to the World Cup our share would probably have been spent spent on new table cloths for Delia''s restaurant!
14. That''s interesting, I always thought the prize money went to the countries FA to do with what they liked.
15. www.dbu.dk/~/media/Files/.../Castrol%20Key%20Outcomes%20v7.pdf Sorry its a download but basically states that 70% of first time managers don''t last longer than 75 games and then never get another managerial position! So basically only the elite survive! We appoint a bloke (I have no axe to grind re Adams) who is best known for working with U18''s and as a co-commentator on local radio, with 5 games premiership experience with a points total of 1, and expect him to succeed in what is undoubtedly our most important season in the last 4 years!! He''s 49 years old and if he had managerial aspirations why has it taken so long for him to try to fulfill this ambition? Yea good thinking McNally et al, you have really filled me with confidence. When it all goes Pete Tong, please the board, have a good look at yourselves and ask are you really up to the job! I have supported this club for fifty years and apart from the Gunn fiasco this appointment has left me feeling the most underwhelmed ever! I would like to say OTBC but I really feel that the current board do not deserve our support!
16. The controlled substance reports relate to Leeds not Villa.
17. Totally agree, it was obvious to most before the season started we would battle to score goals and that transpired! And for those that said preseason doesn''t matter- it does!
18. 14th with Adams winning a few "must win" games to retain his job and save the embarrassment of the board yet again!
19. Neil Adams to hold press conference at 1.00pm on SSN. Should be interesting.
