  1. Britt Assombalonga came through as a winger and played there plenty of times for Peterborough last season. Sign Huckerby who was a proven striker and play him left wing, what could possibly go wrong? Oh.... nothing.
  2. Would be the perfect signing for us right now, to be played on the left wing. Then we have Redmond and Bennett competing on the right, Assombalonga and Murphy competing on the left. Ship Pilkington out. It''s OK saying that we''ve done well to get £7m for Snodgrass, but lets take advantage of this now by giving Redmond his spot on the right side and bringing in a real left winger.
  3. He is not an upgrade on Elmander vlad666. Elmander is a much better player who just like every striker seriously struggled under Hughton. Lafferty has yet to excel anywhere, just a mediocre player who would be pants in the Premier League. Just hope that we paid £1m rather than £5m for him!
  4. Salopian always helps that you read an entire thread before commenting... the post before yours said "signed for Swansea". So no.... he won''t sign for Norwich, because he has already signed for Swansea.
  5. Snodgrass had a year left on his deal, we got a good fee. But I partially agree with the OP, I am getting little Old Norwich vibes too. Kyle Lafferty is the type of player I''d have expected Ipswich to sign under Roy Keane. Was deemed too rubbish for the Swiss league, was mediocre in the SPL, singled out as a poor performer for Northern Ireland (who hardly have a large pool of talent to dive into). My initial optimism is waining too. I just hope that we make a good signing or two before we have to wake up to the news that Leroy Fer has joined Everton.
  6. Both of them are a level above Lafferty and Grabban. Adams had to change things up top and we have to be realistic about the type of players we can sign when other areas of the squad need work, especially if we don''t want to lose too many players. Lafferty is a big man, we do miss one of those. Grabban looks decent but one great season really. I just really hope that the plan is to go into next season with either one of Hooper or RVW as our main man. Lots of people calling for us to sign Rhodes, but with a bit of confidence either of those players will score 20+ in this division. I''d be truly gutted if we end up going into next season with Grabban, Lafferty, Becchio, and Loza. If we can go into next season with Grabban, Lafferty, Hooper, Loza - perhaps that will be perfectly good enough.
  7. He also said that turnover will halve. They may be getting a salary reduction but they won''t be halving their salaries. So right back at ya... please stop using the wage reduction as a reason for players staying.
  8. Bethnal judging by your prediction earlier in the thread that Rodwell will get decent playing time at Man City and that Champions League will improve him. Two years and just 25 games later (all competitions), with just 2 Champions League appearances behind him, nowhere to be seen in the England set up and set to return to Everton.... We can all put big money on that Shaw will flop at Man Utd and end up playing for West Brom or Stoke by the time he is 24? I actually agree that this is a good move for Shaw, just wanted to point out that we can''t take your prediction seriously when it sits on this thread!
  9. Pilkington hasn''t really done anything in a yellow shirt for 18 months now, doesn''t look the same player that he was. Maybe he needs a fresh start somewhere, or maybe injuries have taken their toll. Either way I wouldn''t be sad to see him go.
  10. If Whittaker and Martin stay then it is also the club most likely to be watched by representatives of the Scottish national team.
  11. Maybe you would choose the club where your former manager is now employed Zippers?
  12. It was always going to be likely that one of Olsson or Garrido would move on, both are likely on big wages. I''d rather Garrido moved on than Olsson, but then again he would probably be a tremendous player in the Championship so not too worried.
  13. If Wolves can get £7.5m rising to £10.75m for Matt Jarvis, then perhaps £8m for Snodgrass with a year left on his deal is about right. But if we could get him to sign a new deal I''d prefer if we kept him, our best player.
  14. Hope there is no truth in this, the fee especially. So Lokomotiv sign him on a free transfer, he only plays 43 games in three seasons for them, and then we pay £5m when he only has a year left on his deal? Way over the odds and sure we can spend money better than that, rather us spent a couple of million on Kris Commons.
  15. That was a rather impertinent response.
  16. Depends if they are competitive games or friendlies. The FA has often arranged pointless friendlies at stupid times of the season. Picking and choosing when you fancy playing a competitive game is not on, either you are available or you are retired shouldn''t be an inbetween (a rule which seems to apply to John Terry but not Ben Foster). Giggs didn''t play friendlies for Wales, Bellamy didn''t in his later career, Bale is said to be considering not playing in friendlies. Find it difficult to judge without further information, if one of the Spurs players was Ledley King who trained half a day a week and couldn''t play more than one game a week then that would be understandable wouldn''t it?
  17. I was just being realistic Morty. The world cup must be the most scouted competition in the sport, Holland look like they will go far, and Fer just scored one of their goals. He will have suitors and will probably see this as the right time to take his opportunities. It may well be in the interests of the club, he suffers from niggling injuries and the Championship is a long hard season, his wages are probably very high. Cashing in and getting a good price could well be a positive, especially if deep down he isn''t up for it.
  18. Kyle Lafferty is a giant of a man and very strong in the air. We need a player like that. If a couple of million then could be good business. We have been desperate for an aggressive big man with a strong presence since Holt left. If we go into the season with Grabban, Hooper, Lafferty and one out of Becchio and Van Wolfswinkel then I should think that would be a very good strike force at this level? Lafferty solves a problem area. People have short memories because Lambert felt he needed a player like that and signed Wilbraham for £100k. Made no sense at the time but perfect sense within a few months. If we can get promoted using Wilbraham then we can get promoted using Lafferty!
  19. Highly unlikely that Fer will still be our player come August, do hope that he doesn''t stay in English football though. Would be easier on us all if he just went to Italy to fulfill his potential so we don''t have to watch him on MOTD playing well for Everton.
  20. The same Dani Pacheco who is currently being linked with moves to Espanyol and Malaga, both mid-table La Liga teams? Pants is he?
  21. If people go out and pay for Snodgrass on their shirt because he was used in the marketing does that entitle them to a new shirt if we then sell him?
  22. Jordan Rhodes is a goal machine. 52 in 89 for Blackburn. 73 in 124 for Huddersfield. And he is said to be on £42,000 a week at Blackburn, who apparently offered him a huge pay rise in January to sign a five and a half year contract. That would maybe explain why he is still at Blackburn. Steve Bull spent much of his career in the second tier and at current rate Rhodes with 135 goals by the age of 24 looks capable of outscoring Steve Bull who finished with 306 at the age of 34 with England recognition in the process. Rhodes would be an amazing signing and would become a Norwich legend but I doubt we can afford him if the price is £10m and over £42,000 a week in wages.
  23. You do know that we are a Championship club? How on earth could we ever attract somebody like Koeman here? If anything the lack of ambition was shown when Lambert left, and we appointed Chris Hughton, whilst Swansea went out and grabbed Michael Laudrup. We aren''t in the same ballpark anymore, we missed our chance to go and get somebody like Koeman a long time ago. We were seen as a progressive club on the up when Lambert left and that was our time.
  24. I''d hope we would sack Adams long before we find ourselves 12th at Christmas. Wigan sacked Owen Coyle 2nd December, and that was too late.
  25. I just read this and will never get those 2 minutes of my life back.
