  1. I do feel a bit sorry for him, I should clarify. But I feel sorry for all the attacking players who had to play under Hughton. If the club and Adams want to keep him then I will support him and hope he comes good, but I won''t shed a tear if we were to sell him and spend a couple of million on somebody who has shown they score 15+ in this league. If we keep him and he still can''t score, that is a disaster?
  2. He looked great for Lisbon and awful for us because to go from Portugal to the EPL is a huge step up, one which he wasn''t good enough to make. If you were to put Hoolahan in the Portuguese league he would probably look world class. He may have some great attributes, but they don''t compensate for the fact that he is not strong enough, not fast enough, and not mentally strong enough, to succeed in the best league in the world. Just my opinion.
  3. It is retarded to say that Van Wolfswinkel would do better in an attacking team. Is there a single striker in the world who doesn''t want to play in an attacking team. Hooper managed 7 goals, Holt managed 8, both in a conservative Hughton team where preventing the opposition scoring was the priority. Both are considered to have had bad seasons. Van Wolfswinkel scored 1 goal in 25 games under exactly the same circumstances. All strikers need chances, Wolfy didn''t take enough of the ones that he got - Hooper has established himself as our best striker and it is he who we now need to look to for goals. Wolfy got his chance and blew it, no room for sentiments we need strikers who score goals.
  4. If you mean did I watch a YouTube highlights video showing the goals that he scored in 2012/13 in the Portuguese league, then yes I did. There are some awful teams in that league though it is like the SPL - four big teams being the Celtic and Rangers, and then people like Moreirense and Olhanense are your St. Mirrans and Hamiltons. And apart from his four goals against Braga that season all of his league goals came against bottom half teams, none of who would be anywhere near good enough to compete in the Championship yet alone the Champions League. I don''t think excelling in the Portuguese league requires a particularly talented player - Hooper would also excel playing for a good team in a poor league. Sunderland fans aren''t expecting Jozy Altidore to come good after he scored for fun in Eredivisie either, Elmander scored for fun in Turkey. The only leagues in the world that comes anywhere near as close to the Premier League in competitiveness are Seria A and the Bundesliga. Even La Liga contains many very poor teams, Messi and Ronaldo wouldn''t score as many in the Premier League and Suarez would score many more in La Liga. Jozy Altidore scored 23 goals in 33 games for AZ in 2012/13, look how terrible he was for Sunderland. He scored more in Holland than Van Wolfswinkel did. Would you buy Altidore? Van Wolfswinkel didn''t make the grade, sell him to a slower paced league where he can look good again and buy a big number 9 to replace Holt.
  5. If we keep Wolfy then I wonder how long it will be until he is working as a handyman at a caravan park and playing for Wroxham.
  6. Michael Owen was one of the fastest players in the world, silly comparison. If Wolfy had blistering pace then his lack of strength wouldn''t be a problem.
  7. Would we want him back if we went up? Just looks so unsuited to English football.
  8. It would be insane to see Wolfy playing Champions League football next season after the season he has just had. If we do let him go for £5m or something then I hope we get a good sell on clause inserted, 20% or something. If he goes and scores goals for fun in the CL then he could still find suitors in Spain or Italy in the future, just because he has blown it in the EPL doesn''t mean he can''t go on and do well elsewhere.
  9. We probably need to sell before we can buy, and can''t make it clear that we are in a rush to sell because we''d then get lowball offers.
  10. Here is an interview with David Bentley from three days ago: http://www.newstalk.ie/player/podcasts/Off_The_Ball/Off_The_Ball_Highlights/54487/2/David_Bentley Listen to that..... and then bow your head in shame OP. He''s an idiot and a loser.
  11. Love to see it happen but our club doesn''t have the ambition to even attempt it.
  12. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-brom-ex-baggies-star-garry-7167474 Appoint this man as Technical Director or Head of Player Recruitment NOW. ‘Who on earth would spend that much on a player who is too light-weight for English football?’ Too true Brian, why would you!
  13. Changed my mind, Adams signing Dwyer would be like Gunn signing Cody McDonald. There are several proven Championship strikers available for free. Matty Fryatt and Billy Sharp are two of them.
  14. I meant stay in Dubai as in don''t come back from holiday, but I get your point. We may all be sick of Wes, but he probably still has friends in the squad that we respect and who want to stay. Point well made, and taken.
  15. Matty Fryatt and Billy Sharp are the only free players I''m interested in.
  16. We were told that he was injured, and it doesn''t sound like he was. The truth is more like he wants out so wasn''t picked by Adams, who was already building for this season because he already knew he had the job. That''s more likely the reality.
  17. Well it would be nice for the club to put forward a few players who can say into a camera that they want to stay. So far Russell Martin is the only one, would be nice to get a few more to settle the nerves. It would do the world of good if we could get Nathan Redmond appearing in front of the camera telling us that he wants to play for Adams, or Olsson coming out telling us that he wants to get us back up. It would help with the depression.
  18. Pilkington has been quoted as saying that he wasn''t picked at the end of the season so doesn''t know what his future holds. He is fit enough to go and play for Ireland and put himself in the shop window. Today we have his sly dig in a tweet about being a Norwich reserve with a picture of him and Wes. But on 2nd May we were told that his season was over: http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/mobile/sport/norwich_city_midfielder_anthony_pilkington_ruled_out_of_chelsea_game_with_hip_injury_joseph_yobo_still_a_doubt_1_3584135 With the quote: “In terms of the length of the injury we can’t say for the following weekend. He’s had it just over a week, getting on for two weeks now." Seems to suggest he was only fit for one of Neil Adams'' games in charge. Two weeks prior to 2nd May, and for the rest of the season following that. So what is the truth here, was he injured or was he not picked by Adams? Here is Pilkington''s quote: “I don’t know. I wasn’t really in the manager’s plans towards the end of the season so I’ll have to wait and see.” So was he injured or was he not? People have a growing mistrust of our club over the Adams situation as it is. Anybody else picked up on this?
  19. How is it alienating a squad InchY? The players that don''t want to be here can go. The players that do want to be here can stay. That doesn''t alienate anybody, it gives them a clear choice.
  20. Is not wasted playing games with big teams over a million here and a million there whilst Cardiff start building a squad for a promotion fight. The club need to sit down or call every single player and just as them a simple question: Are you staying or are you going? Give them three days to give a straight answer. Transfer list the ones that say going with a non negotiable realistic asking prices, and invite the rest back to pre-season training. Tell the press which players remain employed by the club but are no longer a part of the team, and tell the press that all other players are not available for transfer. Leave the rats to their own devices and tell them to stay in Dubai and train until we have accepted an offer, or allow them to use our facilities when the youth team are training. Make this summer all about the players who are staying and bringing in players to replace those who want to leave. I''m already sick of hearing speculation about Ruddy, Pilkington, Wes, and Snodgrass. Time to finish it all already and tell us who has the balls for the fight and which players are looking for a payday. Either they are in or they are out.
  21. Our number one target has to be a big man up front. I''d take Sharp as a Wolf replacement if we also got a big man as an Elmander replacement and kept Hooper. But not as a first choice striker. Hooper is better than Sharp.
  22. Are you or are you not a Watford supporter?
  23. Rubbish is perhaps a bit harsh, but average Championship defender. Most clubs in the Championship are skint, we paid £300,000 for Crofts, a similar amount for Hoolahan. Says more about how broke clubs outside of the Premier League are.
