It appears to me that the board of NCFC will do anything so as not to have to concede that their decision to appoint Adams was atrocious. Today, he stood with Holt for most of the game and they looked quite clueless for the most part. Moreover, their silence was supplemented by facial expressions and body language which would motivate nobody. It looked like Wednesday and the arrival of their saviour could not get here quickly enough. Which gets me to the subject of Phelan and how the management structure will work. Clearly, Adams has demonstrated that he does not have a clue about managing at this (or any other level), after all, why should he. So where does the man who has been brought in to take charge of the situation, stand in relation to Adams? Does he take strategy from Adams and instil it on the training ground? Or does Adams just keep the hell out of it? If so, why will the board not just admit they dropped a big one and move him out? I am totally gutted by this astonishing series of decisions and feel for the 24000 or so supporters who turn up at Carrow Road each game. Not to mention the sacrifices of our away contingent. And for all of us, the club has allowed our very favourable position at the start of this year to be destroyed by pig-headed decisions. Legitimate expectations of a top two finish have already been watered down to a play-off place and we shall soon have dropped enough home points to render that unlikely. And now, instead of taking strong action, we have replaced the coach, a measure which will buy time before we eventually bite the bullet when its too late. Will they ever learn?

Adrian Forbes Club stooge
danielsroundabout replied to pete's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Don''t be too critical of Forbes, he''s putting together the kind of c.v. to stand him in good stead to be appointed as your next manager. Trot out a load of absolute tosh on Partridge Radio, do a little bit of junior coaching - sounds ready for the big one to me. -
The answer to the original question can only be given when we have sorted out the overriding subject of the manager. Based on the last match, he is not featuring in Adams''s 1st X1 but at the same time, he is lauded by many. His initial control of a ball, coupled with his ability to run at and beat defenders at pace, are priceless qualities. This is what makes it so frustrating that little progress has been made in developing his final delivery, be it pass, cross or shot. I guess we shall have to wait and see how Adams''s successor views things.

Neil needs a helping hand
danielsroundabout replied to pete's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I agree with all that the Barclay King has said in his post. Those who see it differently are sadly deluded. When Hughton went, was it a Trainee !st Team Manager we searched Europe for? Of course not, so why did we appoint one? -
The question of experience
danielsroundabout replied to Rhiadd's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
''kin ''ell. -
Now that a vacancy in the management team has been created (for whatever reason), so many posters on this and most other threads are expressing encouragement to bring in quality, proven help to assist Adams. For crying out loud - we need a new manager to get a grip and give direction to the entire operation, not someone to help a man who has got himself into something he can''t handle. Besides, what self-respecting experienced football man with a successful c.v. would want work for Adams? Why so many fans have allowed themselves to be brainwashed into believing that Adams has something special that will eventually come out, is beyond me. Are their memories so short that they forget that his permanent appointment was the biggest shambles imaginable? I really did think that after Forest and all before it, even McNally would have to eat humble pie (again) and take immediate action but todays events do suggest that we are to be saddled for a while longer. I suppose the thinking is that a change now would give the new man time to turn fortunes round and of course, we like to leave these things until its too late.

Prolific Ricky!!
danielsroundabout replied to Derby Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Don''t get too heated Herman, he''s managing a professional football team (I grant you he shouldn''t be). It''s what they often refer to as a results business. Supporters are often critical when incompetence is served up and they are entitled to be. -
Neil Adams - one of us
danielsroundabout replied to Making Plans's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Then it''s surely McNally you should be gunning for?
I''d say both in equal measure. -
The silent majority have our say!
danielsroundabout replied to Burger Barry's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
They say it takes all sorts and I guess the OP proves the point. To suggest that he is in any sort of a majority in replacing Gunn with Lambert is a cracker. Don''t hide yourself away if you''ve got more like that Barry. -
Is McNally still at Norwich City?
danielsroundabout posted a topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
As we rapidly approach a crisis point for our team, I am struck by the anonymity of our Chief Executive. As the number of supporters who demand managerial change swell at an alarming rate, we hear nothing from him. Not even a word of support for his man Neil, although granted, that would be hard to deliver with any credibility. Surely we must hear something tomorrow. -
Neil Adams - one of us
danielsroundabout replied to Making Plans's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Parma suggests that Neil''s footballing career (playing and post) makes him far better qualified to manage City than any of the posters on here. Few would argue with that but nobody is suggesting the position should be in the hands of a complete novice. Indeed, it''s the total lack of experience in coaching or managing at adult professional level that made the permanent appointment so astounding. All those who adopted a "kings clothes" approach to the appointment are now seeing it as it really is. Just a handful maintain their mis-guided support of the board, citing others who have gone into management with only limited experience. Nowhere can they find an example who has had absolutely zero involvement as in Neil''s case. It will be desperately hard for him but he really needs to concede that he is not qualified (by experience) for the task and speak with McNally now. -
Southampton reviving interest in Redmond
danielsroundabout replied to York Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Totally agree with Haggerdo when he talks of the fear created by Redmonds pace. It is the pace which means when he has beaten a defender, he does not have to worry about beating him again. i.e. unlike Snodgrass (and to an extent Hoolahan), he is quick enough to lose them. Haggerdoo''s other point is also true, Redmond demands the attention of more than one defender, thus freeing space for teammates. I have to say though, I can''t get my head around how good his initial control and running at defenders are and yet his final delivery (be it shot, pass or cross) are so woeful. Can this be coached or have you either got it or not? -
Why can ipswich not fill their ground?
danielsroundabout replied to mrs miggins's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Not only have they spent a long uninterrupted number of seasons in the Champ., they have at the same time been largely uncompetitive. This has succeeded in switching off their plastics and left just their 15 or 16,000 hard-core to suffer each week. As with any team (or business), it is far easier to retain supporters (customers) than it is to win them back after losing them. -
Russ Martin - becoming a liability
danielsroundabout replied to grefstad's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Move Martin from CB and he is no longer a liability. Put Whittaker where you like, he''ll remain a liability. -
Russ Martin - becoming a liability
danielsroundabout replied to grefstad's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I agree with Grefstad that Martin is a non-runner as far as centre back is concerned (the pun was accidental) but think it a no-brainer when chosing between him and Whittaker for right-back. I would opt for Martin every time and don''t really understand why a certain minority can talk of little after a game, other than Martin''s perceived shortcomings. -
I think a further 3 games is harsh. He had to get a token addition but an extra game would have been fairer. After all, as I saw it, he did not strike the official, he did not push the guy, he simply touched him as he was about to brandish the inevitable red. And on that basis, I felt a bit more support than shown by Adams would have been forthcoming from most managers. Adams''s words simply left him out to dry.

Crafty Canary wrote: Adams does not say that Leroy isn''t going, just that he''s not going at the moment. This suggests to me that McNally is seeking a higher fee or hasn''t agreed ad dons and sell on clause. I still think he''ll be off before the end of the window. I think Crafty is probably on the money. Not so the guy who has been setting himself up as a fan of half the clubs in the country. Well he was pleased with the outcome of his experiment.
imo there''s quite a noticeable difference in ability between martin and whits at RB. The only thing whits has over martin is that he gets forward more, but he can''t defend, pass, cross, tackle, header as well. His movement when tracking back is terrible compared to martin''s.
Spot on.

Evesham Canary says "Correct me if I am wrong but doesn''t he play centre back for Scotland?" No correction necessary but not too relevant. After all, Whittaker often gets in that team as well.

Surman off.....
danielsroundabout replied to lincoln canary (& Golden Coppel)'s topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Getting rid of Surman would lift Neil Adams considerably in my estimation and if he got money for him as well, quite a result. Those who support Surman''s case for a place in the starting X1, also tend to favour Wes in the team as well. For me, that makes for a midfield that is far too lightweight, Wes involves himself in the game, Surman runs around a lot but sees little of the ball and suffers from a strong reluctance to compete for 50-50 balls. -
Surmans Joining Bournemouth.
danielsroundabout replied to Move Klose's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Jenkins says "Another good move by Adams." I completely agree but don''t recall the other good one. Can we insist on a clause insisting on him playing in both games against us? Seeing Bradley at pre-match handshake would give us today all over again - 10 men for 90 minutes. -
My honest thoughts on Neil Adams
danielsroundabout replied to YellowNets1901's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
IMO, City have a better chance with Adams than any likely replacement.
Alas Smith and Jones think the same and this, following a near worldwide search by McNally. -
That may well be the case danielsroundabout but they are board decisions and nothing to do with Adams himself. Seems to me that a lot of ''fans'' had made their mind up about him before a ball was kicked. I have a feeling there will be quite a few unhappy posters missing on here saturday night if we win. I didnt want him to get the job but now he has it surly he deserves the full support of the fanbase?
Sure JF, I agree with all that you say. I am just so disappointed at the way enthusiasm has disappeared from me and most of the friends who follow the team, when we should be both excited and expectant by the season ahead.
-
I don''t see these comments as knee jerk reaction after one game, more a case of utter amazement at just about every board decision in 2014. All supporters were gutted by the relegation but with the close season to put it behind us, we could by now be facing the new challenge with enthusiasm and a high degree of optimism. But every decision that comes from Carrow Road is gradually conditioning the supporters not to expect too much. Even media pundits have downgraded us from "firm favourites to return" to "play-off possibles." Whether it was decisions around Hughton, the temporary and permanent appointment of Adams, the Royle debacle or the Technical Director, they have let us down at every turn.
