  1. These last 2 home games have really killed it off at last
  2. @westcoast What I was suggesting on a different thread is that we probably take a similar % of our chances compared to other teams, not the xG figure (which I''m not 100% on) - for example if the average ''chance conversion'' is 30%, if you create 10 chances you have a lot more room for error than if you only create 3 chances (Note, i dont know what the average chance conversion is between teams, the 30% is just an example)
  3. ''Now, the defence is hugely improved, away at Derby and Wolves as well as at home to Middlesborough and Bolton we dominated possession, in the opposing half too, and carved out plenty of scoring opportunities.'' This is the bit I struggle with. I guess everyone has a different opinion on what a goal scoring chance is, but I don''t see ''plenty'' of goalscoring chances in those games, except fort the 1st half v Bolton. I see few ''genuine'' chances and lots of pot shots from distance that rarely force the keeper into great saves
  4. Of the bottom 6 we have only beaten one of them at home. That’s shocking no matter what way you look at it. In all game I think we have dominated possession as well, which tell its own story about how misleading it is as a statistic
  5. Care to explain that? I’m not sure how being lack of final ball, being caught on his heels, being brushed off the ball by the slightest breeze, rarely being able to take a player on and consistently making poor decisions has anything to do with how the other team views him? Interestingly somebody who sits in front of remarked that both Murphy and Lewis have similar builds, but there is no comparison to their strength. You rarely see Lewis beaten for strength yet Murphy is brushed of the ball almost every time
  6. We also played with a fair bit of width in the first half. Taking a CB out meant we could play another attacking player, so we went with 2 wingers instead of 2 strikers. Also Leitner was dropping deep to pick up the back, a bit like a QB. We certainly seemed to move the ball quicker and have a lot of movement up front, with the midfielders also getting in and around Oliveira. As said elsewhere on the thread we really did miss a hatfull of chances (for a change) That was the first half. It all seemed to change in the second half. The width had disappeared. We seemed to be a lot more narrower despite still having the 2 wingers. Suddenly instead of movement and quick passing it was balls to feet to players with their backs to goal. All the play was in front of Bolton’s backline which they were comfortable with and I’m sure we didn’t have an meaningful attempt in the entire half. It turned very similar to the first half v Ipswich where despite having the vast majority of the ball we never looked like scoring
  7. Turned around a massive decline? Really? Aren’t we lower in the table, having scored less goals, with a squad that has lost a lot of quality? I’m not criticising as they are working in unique circumstances, but at the same time not really sure you can say they have turned around a huge decline?
  8. The thing is it was such an obvious foul throw by Leitner, and by Farke launching the ball away it just are up more seconds of injury time
  9. First half yes, second half no. Everything we were doing right we just seemed to stop doing. We probably gave Bolton one of their easiest halves of football when we should have already been out of sight. Little movement, little width, playing balls to feet with back to goal - very similar to first half v Ipswich. Did the Bolton keeper have anything to do 2nd half? Agree about Bolton’s tactics, but they are scrapping for their lives to stay up - it was up to us to break them down but we simply didn’t do anywhere near enough in the 2nd half
  10. Completely lost our heads. Everything we did right in the 1st half we stopped doing in the 2nd. Played right into Bolton’s hands. Sums us up we can get points away at Derby and Wolves yet fail to beat Ipswich and Bolton at home
  11. Best first half of football at home all season Probably more clear chances today than in the last 5 home games! Also, some huge scores at the minute to tighten up the table if we can get a win. Preston losing, Boro losing, Leeds beating Brentford. Thats 3 teams between us and the playoffs losing, with 5th and 6th playing first and second today and tomorrow
  12. I agree Hank, I don’t know the figures but I guess we out XG figure would be similar to most other teams, but when you create such a small amount of chances every game each miss is amplified.
  13. Of course its unlikely, it will require a title running form when we are still struggling for consistency at home, and will require 1 or 2 teams to have extremely poor runs. On the flip side we have 5 very winnable games coming up, and we know on our day we can match virtually anybody in this league. Yeah we probably wont make the playoffs, almost certainly. But we should still be aiming to win our remaining games and crash the party regardless.
  14. @Nutty I hope somebody corrects me if I''m wrong, that works out to 1.66pts per game I think, which over a season is around 76/77 points, which would just be enough (normally) for playoffs?
  15. That’s great, but there is a massive flaw in that thinking, based on the fact we have been losing going into injury time?
  16. Let’s not forget Gunn went up for a corner, Ruddy catches it and chooses NOT to play the ball out quick so Wolves can break and score an inevitable 3rd. A minute later he’s picking it out of his net after conceding a 93rd minute equaliser! Great stuff
  17. 11 - 13 points. 3 home wins, 2 away draws minimum. Hopefully at least one of those away draws will be a win instead. 3 points max outside playoffs
  18. Top half of the table, above the Binners!
  19. All to familiar and predictable. No width, playing in front of wolves with little to no penetration. Leaving changes far too late.
  20. Just seen it on TV. It’s embarassing! Equalise here and we go above them btw
