  1. Oops sorry about that, well it was Quite some time ago. The point I was trying to make was we seemed to get the best out of the players we bought in and most importantly used their abilities to maximum effect. I.e. we didn''t put a player with pace, who can take players on, shoot from distance with either foot , and score goals at left back.
  2. When Robert Chase was in charge we use to have a good reputation for prudent spending, good scouting and buying well. City always managed to squeeze that little bit extra out of all the players they bought turning good players into very good players. Ruel Fox and Mark Robins are just two of them. And now .....,,,,,....
  3. Some good points raised but also consider this. instructuons are probably easier to carry out early on but as legs tire things fall apart and this is what happened against West Ham and Liverpool as players were caught out of position. When you consider what makes a good player an important factor is their athletic ability and this is what is lacking especially in the key area of central midfield. Top quality midfielders are renowned for their 90 minute engines, Paul Scholes and Denis Wise are a couple, and it is widely recognised that a good side revolves around a solid energetic midfield. This is the powerhouse of the team. It''s controlling midfield, supporting the attack and of course gelling with defence to defend. Many of these goals could have been prevented by basic picking players up marking. sometimes you can see 3 or 4 of our players drawn to the ball with some ball watching when there is an opponent left totally unmarked. The main issue NCFC have is the central midfield which needs more quality. Not convinced ok answer these questions:- What central midfield player has the pace to outpace a defender one on one. Central Midfielder picks up ball and is one on one with keeper, what happens next. Central Midfielder shoots with keeper to beat, what happens next. This for me is the whole issue regarding top quality player Brady, if you want him that far forward scoring goals then obviously there is at times exposure at the back. For me I would rather fully utilise Brady''s skills in central midfield where I might add he is desperately needed, and have more general cover at the back.
  4. I admire your effort in writing this piece but realistically it will be very difficult as:- Firstly not many goals are being scored and lots are being conceded. As there is not a huge threat up front it is easy for opposing teams to formulate a plan to win. Team performance in games has been inconsistent. For small teams the premier league bites you hard as the season gets further in, injuries, cards etc, plus if the same players are playing week after week their freshness goes and you can see the effect of players flagging after 70 minutes. We all know the weak spots and so do other teams. Good luck with your prediction I hope you are correct.
  5. Many thanks for your response. The problem is tactically it is not a good place to have your best player at left back. He needs to be involved as much as possible that is involved going forward and defending. The fact is also the existing midfield area is full of players that do not score enough goals or pick up enough on players runs especially late on as the batteries run flat. The fact is also this is likely to continue unless tactical changes are made.
  6. For some time now I have been calling for Brady to be moved into central midfield, see my other post "Footyexpert offers guidance". After yesterday''s goal, with his alledgely weaker rightfoot, I say yet again, get the best player you have into a key position if you want to win matches. Brady''s Quality, firepower, defensive capability and engine is needed in central midfield. Why would you put a player with talents similar to Paul Scholes at left back?
  7. Oulsson could have played at left back from the start releasing Brady into central midfield. So obvious Brady should be in central midfield alongside Naismith,Listen to the Footyexpert if you want to have a chance of winning. The Footyexpert says get your best player in a key position and that''s not LEFT BACK. Robbie Brady:- 90 minute engine. Tricky and a threat from midfield. Can shoot with either foot. Defensive ability to break up midfield play.
  8. Problem is if he does start won''t West Ham attack down their left side.
  9. He''s a nice guy, but lacks ability at this level, he is a big favorite of mine and has been there from the start. Does he qualify for a start?
  10. See the footyexperts posts and you will see what he needs to do. Quality players like Naismith need quality players around them and a key move is to move Brady into central midfield alongside Naismith NOT ON THE WING. Brady has all the skills required for this position, he will be more of a threat going forward, provide better cover when defending and most importantly supply more energy into the flagging midfield area. See Footyexpert Offers Guidance for all the details.
  11. Good job Samuelsen isn''t playing, what a signing for West Ham, best young player I have seem for a long while.
  12. Many thanks for your response.. It is a crusade to share football knowledge with those that support, play and manage the game. If you read my comments carefully you will find words of wisdom That if followed will have a positive, not negative impact, upon the teams performance. Please refer to my other most recent note "Footyexpert offers Guidance" to learn more about how the team needs to utilise its best players in key positions.
  13. Here is the reason why. Team selection and tactics have been poor. Substitutions made have been untimely and poor. Better players not in key positions, Brady stuck at left back when you have the central midfield running on empty, what''s that all about. Week after week playing the same players that fail to deliver. Better players now appear to have their heads down as they do not feel they have the right players around them. There appears to be nothing to suggest that the manager can make the tactical changes required to turn this around. Check out the remaining games and do the maths. Check out the remaining games and those that are predicting a win at Swansea think again, the win at home against Swansea and was totally against the run of play. Not defeatism, realism.
  14. The idea is to give the opposition something to think about and pace up front does just that, that''s having enough pace to break through, if required, from half way. Placing Redmond in the centre will put him up against normally much slower centre backs. This will mean that if they push up too far behind their midfield they risk the pace of Redmond getting in behind them. So a problem then occurs, if their defence doesn''t push up behind midfield gaps appear. You can only exploit this situation with pace up front it causes teams to think twice before committing too many players forward. Add in Brady and Naismith And the opposition will have lots to think about. It''s a game of chess and to win you need the right pieces in the right places on the board. Thanks for your positive comments.
