  1. Surely enough is enough. No one can defend this. All teams lose games but the manner of this, when it''s a win or bust game...it has to be the end of AN. Shambles.
  2. Fulham winning now. Just not good enough. This should be the end for AN. It could be Brighton all over again. This could be a trashing.
  3. I see what you did there...not big, and not clever. My hopes were raised for a split second. Wolf.
  4. On paper, fixtures for March (SW aside) look favourable. Then you look at fixtures for April and not so good considering our poor results so far against top six sides. We keep coming to games where we say three points are a must...but then the letdown. If we beat SW we are still in the mix but everything that has gone before us this season is telling me we are going to fall short of the playoffs. I just don''t see the consistency needed to pick up enough points.
  5. Personally, I do think the season is effectively over in terms of the playoffs. At a time when we needed to kick on and put pressure on the teams above us, we have taken two points from a possible nine. It''s not good enough. I only hope that come August we have a new manager who can organise and galvanise the players that we retain and buy. We have some good young lads who should be better next season.
  6. Looking at the remaining fixtures, I think Boro are going down. Hope so because it will shut my brother-in-law up.
  7. It''s normally around 74 point on average. Might need a couple more this season.
  8. At home we tend to beat sh!t teams, so probably 3-1. Not really worried about the scum. More worried by Leeds and Wednesday who we need to slip up. Also Fulham just behind us with games in hand. Wolf.
  9. Nah, Tough match but don''t think we will lose this one. I don''t expect burst bubbles or spankings...though either is possible when Mrs Wolf returns this evening.
  10. I am sure AN and the players are taking each game at a time as they should be. I appreciate some folks on this board also don''t like to look too far ahead. But I thought it was legitimate to consider what sort of points total we might need to ensure we are in the playoffs. It would be great to think we would win all remaining games, but I wouldn''t be betting on it. I just thought it was an interesting time to look at the remaining fixture list. For example, as people have pointed out, we haven''t done well against the sides around or above us. Look at the fixtures for April and we have a tough run. Not to say we can''t will all of them but given our up and down season it''s unlikely. So I was looking at the fixtures and trying to see where are points would likely come from. My rough guesswork came out at about 28 points. All of us will think slightly differrently about our chances. Of course it''s all guesswork and opinions but that''s what I thought these forums are about. IMO we are most likely playing for sixth. If you think about what we need to do it''s possible but tough. No certainty but definitely an exciting few weeks ahead starting with beating Forest (hopefully).
  11. Morty, I take that you feel we will get 27+ points from the last 16 games? You are right that our form is better recently but I also think its fair to say we need to start beating the better sides. I agree that if we can beat the toon then that should really give us a confidence boost. I can see it being nip and tuck with us, Derby and Wednesday...so hoping for brum win tonight.
  12. Like a lot of others I was left frustrated with a single point away at Wigan. It could reasonably be seen as two points dropped, or a point gained depending on your perspective. Mostly I''m a heart rules head type so felt deflated after the chance to get back in the top six was spurned. But then in the last few weeks results (not always performances) have picked up. So having read various Pinkun articles about ''perspective'' I thought it might be time for a bit of number crunching. Personally I see us in a three way battle for sixth place with Wednesday and Derby. The fixtures left for all three are fairly similar...ours might be a bit more tricky and the Rams have three home games in a row now so they could overtake us. Wednesday and Derby play each other towards the end of the season and we have a tough trip to Sheffield so these fixtures likely to be pivital. There are so many variables its hard to predict. But from a statistical point of view, based on previous sixth place finishes we are going to need more than 68 points...more likely around 74 points. For us that means 27 points from 16 games, or around 1.7 per game. Looking at our fixtures my opinion is that''s tough but possible and likely means we are in for an exciting run in. To date we are averaging about 1.56 points per game, so we are banking on a strong finish... but we have done it before. It felt frustrating against Wigan because of their league position but they are battling for their lives right now. There will be more strange results as time moves on and teams above us and around us will lose games they were excpected to win. We have had many false dawns, where we felt we had turned a corner, only to slip up the next week. But then perhaps this is how it is this year. It still could turn out okay, and if we don''t go up we still have some exciting young players who are going to be better next season. I still believe sixth place will be ours.
  13. Good to see the team set up to attack...cue the 0-0 draw! Need to keep the momentum and pressure on the top 6. Feeling optimistic. OTBC.
  14. Just what was needed. Grinding out a result. Well done to Ruddy by the sounds of it. We are back within striking distance of the play offs. Game on!
  15. Another Jez thread...yippeeeeee! Have you ever heard of google...then you might not need to start another thread like this.
  16. I think TG has gone out for a long drive in the qashqai to clear his head.
  17. Could it be that Jez wanted to pull the trigger on AN and was overruled by rest of the board? Something isn''t right about this. Difference of opinion but what was the final straw? Strange it happens right after a transfer window.
  18. TG...while you are thankful for Jez being at CR for six months, Wolf is thankful it was only six months. Dont despair there is definitely a job in used car sales for Jez.
  19. As TG would say, be thankful we had Jez for six months. On to the next...
  20. Born in Lincoln, 1972. Did watch the imps a few times in the old fourth division...but wasn''t really into the long ball aerial bombardment they played at the time. A college mate of mine was originally from the fine city so we took in turns driving down to matches when we could. It was a time when the FA Cup meant something. Most memoral for me in the 90s was being in the Barclay for extra time when we beat Southampton in a quarter final. Got tickets to the semi where we lost 1-0 to Sunderland after Flecky had been in the oxygen tent in order to play after his injury. Felt gutted after that. So never lived in Norwich. Mostly go to away games these days as I live in Yorkshire.
  21. Looking at the fixtures this could be a make or break month for us. We have six games with the toon at home looking like a tough one but our home form appears reasonable. We have got to start winning away against some of the fairly average teams. There should be a comfortable home win against the scum. In all if we ended up with four wins we are right in the playoff mix. Let''s hope the new players give us a boost. If we make the playoffs then I don''t think any of the other teams would want to be playing us. We should have a good idea of what to expect at the end of this month. This is the interesting part of the season. Squad depth should come into play. There are almost always a couple of teams where the wheels come off, and others that put a good run together. Time for Alex and the players to step up. Wolf.
  22. Disappointed to see Brady sold but was becoming inevitable. I wonder if we were second or third in the champs if we would have sold Olsson and Brady? Feels to me a bit like accepting we are not going to be serious contenders this year but hopefully our talented young players will be more prepared for next season.
  23. Has anyone else got the feeling that we will end up selling another couple of players and get no or few replacements? The dutch left back looks promising. Maybe I''m a cynical old g!t but I fear the same excuses...other clubs left it late, we tried but couldn''t get the deals done in time. Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised... but I can''t help feeling uneasy given our recent transfer dealings. Wolf.
