(although it really was like a library yesterday) I dont think the boos can help the players whose lack of confidence is manifest by all the playing the ball backwards. The drum in the Barclay seems to have some sort of silencer on it now (barely hear it even in the snakepit) and it no longer deters the away fans from out-singing the Barclay.

even the drummer in the barclay seemed to have a far-quieter-sounding drum, could hardly hear it at the halfway line. Or did he have nothing exciting to drum for... Never put off the Southampton chanters as he did to away fans earlier in season. Perhaps he's had to have a muted one because of the nuisance factor to Barclay fans nearby?
