  1. Morning all!

My pick is Bolton to win at home to Port Vale. Bolton have had a bit of a blip recently, but need a win to have any chance of automatic promotion. Vale have only one point from their last five, and seem to be barrelling towards inevitable relegation.

As for the Norwich match, how about POTS-in-waiting Kenny McLean to score anytime at 9/1?

Best of luck, everyone – especially @Cosmic Twin. It'd be amazing if she could reach double figures in what looks likely to be our last season!

Did well here and has been excellent at Sporting. A £30m move to Liverpool being touted now, anyone surprised?

Not surprised it's being touted, but it might just be lazy journalism based on Amorim supposedly taking over from Klopp. I've seen him play a fair few times for Sporting, and he's turned into a really intelligent and versatile player with great pace, who can play off a front man or as a false nine. He's a vital part of Sporting's success, but not sure he'd be good enough to play such a pivotal role for a club of Liverpool's stature.

Could see him going to somewhere like West Ham, Villa or Newcastle perhaps.

  3. I'm going a little bit early with this, but I had a spare half-hour so thought I'd crack on. Given our injury issues and Preston's generally strong defence, I don't see too many goals in this one; especially if Sarge isn't available. A little surprising that we're shorter odds than Preston to win, so I've tried to factor that in too.

    £1 0-0
£1 Sara to score from outside the area
£1 Sainz to score from outside the area
£1 Nunez to score from outside the area
    £1 Double result Norwich/Draw
£1 Preston to win and Will Keane to score anytime
£2 Preston to score the last goal
£1 Ashley Barnes to be carded
50p Norwich to win 3-1 and SVH to score the last goal
50p Norwich to win 2-1 and SVH to score the last goal

It's a certainty that one of Leeds, Saints, Leicester or Ipswich are still in the league next season, though.  WBA could increase that to two if they made promotion.

A mix of Leeds, Southampton and Burnley in this league next season would make it incredibly hard due to their ability to dominate games.  Not to mention the risk that Everton or Forest could be falling down if it's not Luton.

What's puzzling is not knowing Knapper's preferred system and profile of player, I presume it's based on the Arsenal way and thus would seek to bring in more technically gifted players.  Question is, where's he going to get them from, and who will he task with coaching them?

If Ipswich don't go up then I doubt they'll be challenging for the top two next season, unless they can somehow keep hold of McKenna. A lot is resting on Knapper's recruitment and choice of head coach, that's for sure.

My guess is that really it's all a lot more prosaic.

We pushed the boat out on wages (not transfer fees) at the beginning of the season.

At the last  minute we then had to incur further unbudgeted wages when Sarge got injured at Huddersfield and we brought in Hwang to cover the gap.

By trimming the squad in January - letting Forshaw, Placheta and Hwang leave - Knapper was trying to balance the books and avoid having to sell Rowe, Sarge or Sara in January.

Knapper had the perfect opportunity to get rid of Wagner in November, but didn't do it.

This strikes me as pretty close to reality. I also think that Knapper will be delighted at being able to hold onto his 'lightning rod' in Wagner until the end of the season; yes, he could have sacked him in November, but then his new man would've had to hit the ground running and get us marching up the table, despite the evident lack of funds to spend in January.

This suits all parties; we most likely get an unexpected crack at the playoffs, Wagner gets an honourable discharge at the end of the season, and Knapper gets a few more months to tinker in the background, instil his ways of working and identify playing and coaching targets for the summer.

Of course we 'want' promotion if it lands in our lap, but holding onto Wagner in the PL would seem as unwise as sacking him would seem harsh. A clean slate for a new head coach in a weaker Championship next season isn't such a bad proposition; I doubt Luton or Sheffield United would be troubling the top two, although Kompany could well 'do a Farke' with Burnley.

It's absolutely incredible how everything I thought would happened - did just that. I know it's down to the lack of depth in the squad.

But when Sargent was subbed off with us 2-0 up, I knew (I think most did) we would be lucky to retain the lead - we needed at least 3 to be safe and for him to go off.

With CBs like ours, it's always going to be luck that sees us through. Once again Gibson - Wednesday's 12th man influence the result. Missing headers/ tackles that led to their 1st goal and giving them momentum. I know he's useless but heading the ball unchallenged use to be his only forte - can't even do that now ! One of the best in the division say the happy clappers - how did a 40 year old Paterson bambooze  both he (Gibson) and Batth so easily when they were ahead of him in the chase ? He only needed to put his body between Paterson and the ball ! Is he still a professional footballer ? Junior girls are taught that in training ! Those still talking up Gibson should watch the segment of play leading up to the corners leading up to the 1st goal & the complete 2nd half if you wish. He remains the weak link of the team.

Disaster waiting to happen - resting Sargent, playing Gibson - it won't end well !

Callum Paterson is 29 years old.

I'm usually on side with your posts, but this sounds like weird moral signposting to me.

Why is everyone who enjoys a drink a 'slave to drink'? Sounds like you're superimposing some of your own personal issues and experiences onto the whole of society here, mate.

gotta make terself brave goin into someones elses territory eh? jeez you lads are tough.

I think there are plenty of fans who can enjoy a few drinks before, during and/or after the match without being a menace to society.

If any of our lot started abusing members of the public, causing criminal damage or trying to start fights, they'd get pulled into line pretty quickly.

I was getting nervous last night, so I pressure-washed the patio. Great way to focus the mind... and also to prepare the garden for the summer! Might just have an impromptu binbuster BBQ this afternoon if we can avoid defeat...

  14. We put Ed Sheeran on as part of Norwich Fringe Festival back in 2009. He was a very pleasant, humble young fella, who turned up with just a guitar and a loop pedal and had the audience (of probably about 50 people!) in the palm of his hand; he's certainly not talentless, but as soon as a major label got their teeth into him he made his millions with vacuous, soulless garbage.

This is actually an interesting point. Ipswich have already set an all-time Championship record for most goals by substitutes this season and whilst our starting XI is strong, we have **** all on the bench at the moment.

Yep, true. Similar vibe to our Lambert and Farke teams; supremely fit, loads of late goals, impact from the bench, never know when they're beaten. I hate to say it, but I'd absolutely take a draw right now.

  16. Hi folks!

For the final six, I like Oxford to win away to Burton in League One. Oxford have won three of their last five and are right on the fringes of the playoffs, whereas Burton have one point from their last 15 and seem to be slipping towards relegation.

For the binners match, how about a highly speculative scorecast of 2-2 and Sainz to score the first goal at 100/1?

@nutty nigel, I've wired you a fiver for Sarcoma UK; I would rather ensure something goes in the pot than risk gambling it and donating nothing.

Very best of luck, all... and whatever else may stick this weekend, please please please let's make it to our 15-year landmark of being unbeaten against our charity-thieving neighbours.

Interestingly Lotus also announced it was entering the Indian market the same month, maybe there's a little incentive to display their logo where our badge features?

    Good spot!
