  1. 1. Well actually I do think that it is fair that only fans who make use of the stadium get to cast a vote on something which only those who visit the stadium will see, and 26000 fans is easily a big enough sample for the purposes of a poll - which is to gauge general consensus for a statue not a general election. 2. I''d be willing to lay a fair bit of money against that happening, there would just be no conceivable reason why Norwich supporters would want to wind themselves up, which actually itself a very good reason why you would conduct the poll inside the stadium... because I can think of a certain bunch of miscreants down the road who would have a reason to wind up Norwich fans. You have answered your own question really haven''t you?
  2. That would be the point in a proper vote though wouldn''t it? Could easily narrow down the field by just being able to select from members of the hall of fame and getting fans to tick one box at a home game and put their slip in a big bin at every exit gate. Would take a while to count but whoever gets the most nominations = gets a statue?
  3. Lately we hear people on here saying that they feel detached from the club, not close to the new players, and somebody recently asked "what is our philosophy?". I''ve personally always wondered why we don''t embrace our history as a club. With all the redevelopments and ground improvements that we''ve had in recent years, and the open space that we have behind the Barclay and behind the Jarrold, I really don''t understand why we aren''t one of those clubs who has attempted to embrace history by commissioning a couple of statues. We haven''t exactly had a Thierry Henry or some sort of global megastar, but we have our own club legends to celebrate and getting fans of all ages involved in voting for who should get a statue would be a great way of empowering fans. It wouldn''t cost a fortune to create three plinths and erect a statue on each every few years after a public vote would it? I''d probably cast my own votes (if I got three) towards Huckerby, Geoffrey Watling, and perhaps Gunn (in a kit not a suit) or Ken Brown (before my time but a celebrated manager with a trophy to his name). Are we ashamed of our past at this club? We expect players to play with passion, why not show them that it is possible to leave a legacy and become a club legend here so that our most celebrated players don''t end up calling us a "sh*thouse club" after six years?
  4. Doesn''t have to be a player, it could be any other employee, or even a journalist who was assigned to cover something at Norwich but going to France to work. What if Joe Hart is going to PSG and they want Dave Watson because their other goalkeeping coaches don''t speak English? Or what if we have somebody scouting in France (like Henning Berg was in Scandinavia) who is going to go and get a job with PSG? In terms of players I could only really see them taking a gamble on Sebastien Bassong, who has played in France and speaks French and would probably be a handy player for them (if we consider him in his best form rather than worst), looking at their squad they don''t seem to have many defenders on the books, or at a push Leroy Fer who has obvious top club potential.
  5. "72 years old doesn''t mean much imo" Well it does, it means they are getting on a bit. The last 18 years with them has gone very fast, in 10 years they will be 82. I''m not saying that they are keen to sell right now, only that we have to mindful that they won''t be here forever. Their continued involvement will likely to depend on their health (touch wood and good luck to them). But if one gets ill, would the other really want to carry on alone? I doubt it personally. Whether we can be fussy or not will probably depend on the economy, which so far has seen no real recovery at all. People with money are willing to spend it when they see real confidence in the economy, at the moment all we see is uncertainty.
  6. "For me Man City is the least bizaar and very understandable" Chelsea is understandable also, Abramovich needed an excuse to move himself and some of his assets to London to avoid being imprisoned and having his wealth confiscated by Putin (like other obligarchs). We are a safe haven for outcast Russians.
  7. "None of those. I, like you prefer - and am proud - to support a club that is run on a business like basis and not off the tails of some foreign investor" The fact remains that MWJ and Delia are now 72 years old. They were in their early fifties when buying the club. At some stage in the not too distant future they will need to step aside and sell their shares to somebody wealthy enough to buy them. The onus is on them to try and judge the type of character that they proceed to sell too, but that is often easier said than done. And whoever they sell too could quite easily sell the shares on to somebody undesirable. There isn''t much that you or I could do other than hope that we don''t end up with a lunatic like Tan or an asset stripper like the Portsmouth fellow. What could Delia and MWJ realistically do to prevent this? They can only go by the impression they get, and by putting trust into somebody. They are lovely people, but they once thought it fit to appoint Glenn Roeder as our football manager. As for the ''nationality'', there have been terrible foreign owners and terrible British owners over the years. For every Tan there has been a Bates. People are all the same.... incompetent and competent people of every race, nationality and religion, and good and bad people too. I''ve got a lot of time for John W. Henry the American Liverpool owner. I''d take him over Mike Ashley, for example. Al Fayed was brilliant for Fulham, seemed to suss out the business quickly, managed to make the club sustainable and always knew when to invest in the team. He also gave McNally his first chief exec job. Throughout football from the top to the bottom you can find plenty of examples of crooked British people running clubs into the ground, just like you can find plenty of examples of crooked and incompetent foreigners. Watch this documentary about Luton Town for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi4hNLvZVPM Almost ran out of business by a LOCAL property developer!
  8. "I feel genuinely sorry for you that you cant actually see how much of a bell end you are actually being" Are you a 16 year old girl from Croydon by any chance?
  9. "I feel genuinely sorry for you that you cant actually see how much of a bell end you are actually being" Are you a 16 year old girl from Croydon by any chance?
  10. "That comment was meant for houston canary, as you well know" Was it? Let''s revisit it then..... "The sooner they restrict this forum to actual Norwich fans, who live in Britain, the better" - Morty Heil Morty!
  11. "but what is the reason you go to games if you do not enjoy it?" I have been asking myself the same question this season, and that is the best answer I can give.
  12. "But I still don''t understand why he was singled out yesterday" Singled out by about 1% of the Norwich fans in the ground. That''s the point though isn''t it? Away fans were absolutely fantastic yesterday in the soaking wet, singing for 90 minutes. A few of them were miserable and keeping their spirits up with some gallows humour, good on them. If you object to that 1% having a laugh then fine, but make it clear that you don''t have a problem with the other 99% because otherwise it looks like you are attacking some of the best away fans in the nation.
  13. LOL, wrong thread. In that case.... Yes I do believe that the right manager could improve our away form and make us play with more optimism and belief.
  14. "Do some of you think by changing the manager we''ll start winning these games?" Are you seriously going to persist in making this a Hughton in or Hughton out debate? Well I can''t stop you can I. Morty, Nigel, and Dubai Mark want to have a Hughton debate. But they want to make out that I wanted that debate. It is as clear as the light of day. I thought it would at least get to the second page before turning into one.
  15. When you sign a 32 year old Swedish international with 20 international goals, ahead of Toivanen in the Sweden team and preferred partner of Ibrahimovic, part of the team which thrashed England in a four goal romp, somebody who has managed double figures in this league before, and who was playing in the Champions League last season in the same team as Wesley Sneidjer and Didier Drogba, and you know that he is making £1.3m out of his stay here... ... is it really any surprise when he turns out the performances that he has this season that after 19 league games without a goal he might start getting a bit of a ribbing? The truth is that Elmander has been awful, a flop of truly epic proportions, and there isn''t really any point in denying it any more.
  16. I agree, the change would be two and a half months too late. Which is why I didn''t want an "inner" and "outer" debate, quite telling that it was three prevalent "inners" who have managed to turn this into a debate about Hughton. I''m an "out at the end of the season-er" if anybody wants to label me.
  17. I met a Stoke fan recently who was really happy with the job that Mark Hughes is doing in changing their style of football!
  18. "Mark is right though" A non-British resident though Morty, yesterday you were calling for him to be banned.
  19. "Just another thread designed to stir things up and have a pop at Chris Hughton" You just couldn''t resist taking it down that path could you Dubai Mark? The question was simple enough.
  20. I think you are losing the plot Morty. In the past 24 hours you have said that you want non-Brits banned from the forum, have criticised our loyal away support, and are now resorting to foul and abusive language (yet again). Nutjob!
  21. Right so let''s get this straight, I can''t believe what I am seeing really. Morty, who didn''t go to Villa Park on Sunday and stayed at home to watch it on a stream and post on here, is daring to criticise those who did make the long journey and buy a ticket to go and sing their hearts out for 90 minutes in the pouring rain, even when we were 4-1 down? I''m not seeing things am I?
  22. I think it is unlikely that any such agreement would be a formal one, informal discussions possibly.
  23. We need a change and Lennon and Malky are realistic targets and both have the passion that we all enjoyed in Paul Lambert. I''d love to see Lennon here if we are in this league, or Malky here if we need to rebuild and come back up.
  24. "not the noisy negative pansies on here" Let''s keep this one civil shall we? The next step is a stupid inners vs outers argument. I''ve not enjoyed this season. I feel less of an affiliation with the new players, less excited, don''t have any belief or faith in our squad to get results (occassionally they surprise me), and feel like it is all getting a lot more predictable. Especially if we go a goal down, only once have we overturned a half time deficit. Not coming out and trying to play for pride if getting thrashed, the moans and groans which ring out everytime Elmander comes on, a player who just will never score a goal for us. Not a single substitution resulting in a Norwich goal. Those are all things which have made the game less exciting for me.
  25. It has become ''the norm'' for us to give up as soon as we go behind. I believe that only once have we come back from behind at half time to win under Hughton, that was West Ham at home. We do quite literally give up. That''s just our nature now.
