1. Too early to panic. Think the Ruddy thing has surprised everybody, but the time to panic is early-August if our squad doesn''t look strong.
 2. I can''t blame him for taking the chance of European football, I think he will probably see it as a way of compensating for his lack of an England cap. With that boat firmly sailed perhaps being able to tell the grandchildren that you played in Europe is the next best thing, especially if they end up drawing a bit team.
 3. Got to remember that from their point of view they are losing a very good 29 year old striker with likely three or four years left in the game, and replacing him with a 32 year old with no resale value who they will probably get a couple of years out of. Don''t think there is much difference in quality between Kone and Holt, but they will rightfully see it as a quick fix. Will change their tune when he bangs in a few goals though.
 4. Wigan will play at least six games in the Europa League this season. Likely to be his only chance of playing in Europe, could anybody really blame him if he sees that as an attractive proposition?
 5. Both legends, this could be history repeating itself. We got rid of Huckerby, we got relegated. I hope not, but we do like to tempt fate.
 6.
If Holt is so f***** essential then why is he going to a Championship club?Time to stop wetting your pants and move on.
He''s going to a Championship club who are playing in Europe next season.
 7.
we must not forget that we have a proven Prem squad now
Of which Holt and Ruddy are crucial components, right? These aren''t fringe players, these are huge huge players for us.
 8.
Err?........maybe, but of course it would depend on who came in,  but imo, Holts departure its not going to arise.
I''ve noticed several posts from you being critical of anybody who thinks either one of Ruddy or Holt will leave. You are going to look a bit silly if they both leave, aren''t you?
 9. I will really fear for us if both Ruddy and Holt leave, they are our two most influential players and important to the dressing room. Deja vu of the time that we released Malky and Iwan and were left without leaders.
 10.
Mignolet will be first choice at Liverpool as already pointed out and also i think he has the edge on Ruddy but it is pretty marginal. Ruddy is horrifically underrated by people really has blossomed into a good keeper.
I think Forster is underrated by Norwich fans too though, and he''d be a sufficient replacement for Ruddy should the worst happen.
 11. Nothing wrong with a loan or two, but I do prefer loans which have the potential to become a permanent transfer. We must have doubled Naughton''s value and in the process priced ourselves out of buying him. Powell should only arrive if we don''t find a player of suitable quality and suitable price on a permanent though, because there is no chance that we''d be able to buy him.
 12.

PurpleCanary: "Nope. Still there. The top story in its Chelsea section." They have removed any reference to Ruddy being "interested" in a Chelsea move. Quite an important detail. Generally, though, the only thing Sky Sports "understands" is how to generate page views.
But only a detail. The basic story - that Chelsea want (or very recently wanted) to buy Ruddy and have made something anywhere between an approach and an outright bid - is still there. And despite what some posters seem to think, that story, which has been run by other media apparently based on their own sources, has never been denied by Norwich City. And in the past the club has denied stories that were flat-out wrong. Hasn''t done so this time.
Give it up Purple, you''re making yourself sound simple now, it has now been denied by our manager and CEO, or come out and have the guts to call McNally and CH liars.   Because thats what you''re claiming!
Neither McNally or Hughton, or indeed Ruddy, have said anything which constitutes an outright denial of interest from Chelsea.
 13.
At face value the series of moves makes sense but when you factor in ifs ands & buts (like the minimum clause thingy) it does become much less likely to play out as you imagine due to the complexies involved. Put it this way, what are the betting odds for hitting that trifecta?
The rumoured shared was that Given might be heading to Celtic. That''s the rumour. Chances of that being right? Who knows. The realisation that Given would only be going to Celtic if Forster left was a mere afterthought. Forster could well be going anywhere, we know that Sunderland now need a keeper and have £9m banked - and that''s very close to where Forster was born and raised. We also know that Chelsea are in the market for an English goalkeeper to meet their homegrown quota. The drunk Irishman didn''t claim insight into a complex chain of transfers, only that Given was off to Celtic, the rest was purely theoretical/hypothetical.
 14.

A bloke who drinks in my local reckons that Shay Given is going to end up at Celtic, this bloke is a huge hoops fan so I guess he will have his ear to the ground. With Given on so much money even with a substantial pay cut he isn''t going to be going there as backup is he?  Given is a Celtic fan apparently, and was in their youth system. If this is true, and I have no idea whether it is or not, then that would mean they expect Fraser Forster to be leaving.... if Ruddy to Chelsea is genuine, and lets be honest I think most of us believe it to be, then surely this may well be part of the loop which started with Steer going to Villa?  Is also inevitable that Celtic will sign a high profile Irish player of some description to placate fans who are unhappy at seeing Paddy McCourt leaving? Anyway thought I''d share, not usually one to spread rumours but this one sounded plausible.
Hang on there New Boy, a fair few of us believe otherwise!
Right, and how does that conflict with my statement? "most of us" + "a fair few" seem perfectly compatible to me.
 15.
Why is it that the mention of Fraser Forster in an op makes me  think of  people wishing to relive the past?    I know it wasn''t said directly, but wishing FF back here would not be something I would wish for.   Going back to a club you were at previously doesn''t often work.  Anyway we won''t need him as Ruddy is not going anywhere, imo.
Not sure where you got that impression, I don''t want Ruddy to leave if that''s what you mean, but Fraser Forster is an excellent keeper and I can''t think of too many other worthy candidates.
 16.

TheNewBoy have another look, he does say 23 hours ago not in talks about any players leaving.
Yeah at 11.31pm yesterday he says that he hadn''t been talking to any clubs that afternoon. Firstly, that was yesterday not today, and secondly that didn''t really tell us much at all.
It was yesterday the stories about Ruddy appeared on Sky sports as far as I''m aware, and it tells us we aren''t in talks with any clubs about selling players. Tells us everything. Ruddy can''t leave if Chelsea aren''t in talks with us. And until Cech leaves Ruddy won''t be going there. Don''t know why people believe this rumour over the dozens of others including a number of persistent ones surrounding just our club this year.
This one just seems to have really taken off, and usually when that happens we get a denial from the club, which hasn''t be forthcoming. Neither have we seen a single tweet from John Ruddy, about anything at all, and even Hughton''s ''denial'' was highly questionable as he elected to add a caveat which went something like "I wouldn''t tell you if we had". For some reason I just sense that there is some truth in this Ruddy rumour. All that McNally states is that he wasn''t involved in discussions with other clubs yesterday PM. I can just see some legs in this one, hope I''m wrong.
Yes, because stupids like you keep damn well feeding it![:S]
Oh yeah, I''m sure a few pinkun forum posts are really encouraging the national media to keep churning out the articles, if only I knew I had this much influence over Rupert Murdoch''s empire - I could have been dangerous.
 17. Ayala didn''t benefit from being thrown straight in at the deep end as a substitute, wasn''t that against Stoke when Kenwyn Jones beat him in the air for the winner or equaliser? Felt sorry for him making a debut like that (if I am correct). He hasn''t ever looked Premier League class though, in fact looks like he would be better suited back home in Spain tbh.
 18. Was basically a striker at Crewe but Ferguson saw him as a centre mid. He is quite a big lad so can mix it in the middle, but think his goals are going to be what sets him apart, he''s the next Lampard.
 19.
Mingealot as second choice keeper cost Liverpool £9m as JR a better keeper and is English must be worth £10m. Tell Jose to bugger off until Roman can stump up £12m plus Lukaku on season loan. However still don''t want JR to leave but maybe inevitable.
Mingelot will become their new number 1, because Pepe Reina will go to Barcelona to replace Victor Valdes at the end of this season. He will be #2 for one year tops, and will probably be getting a fair bit of action to get him ready. They will probably end up selling Reina for a fair bit more than they have just paid for Mingelot. This would have been a much smarter move for Ruddy though, because one year as #2 is much different to three or four years behind Cech.
 20.
He is exceptional.
Indeed he is an exceptional talent, and likely to be England''s next Frank Lampard, but he has only played 6 competitive games in a year since coming from League Two. Despite being potentially England''s best young prospect at the moment, this would have serious potential to be a Harry Kane type signing. Think he should be going out on loan to the Championship for a year, and then thinking about finding a Premier League club, just not enough experience for me so I''m out.
 21. May not be as insignificant as you are making out, the question is why would they edit that out? The only reason that I can think of is a complaint from John Ruddy or his agent, and surely a complaint would only be forthcoming if it were to be an inaccurate statement?
 22.
Personally I don''t think it has taken off. As far as I can tell, as ''original'' sources of rumours, there was a £5 million bid turners down, then a guy on SSN said Ruddy was interested, later they then reported in advance talks. Personally I''ve noticed much stronger rumours about many many more players this summer that now ether seem completely false or just didn''t materialise. As for Ruddy not tweeting, he doesn''t all that often. One of his last was to Holt about playing golf the next day, (2 days ago) not something I''d have though a player who is about to be in ''advanced'' talks with a club would be doing. Unless of course Holt and Ruddy met somewhere in between Wigan and London so they could both finalise their moves before either club actually bid for the player... But then last two times I was like that with rumours of people leaving us, Lambert resigned and Holt handed in transfer request...
Well I hope you are right, all I can say really.
 23.
I must be imagining this then? david mcnally‏@davidmcnally626 Jul Right, busy this pm & so I haven''t responded to tweets. Can confirm though that I haven''t been in talks with clubs about any one leaving #ncfc
You just copied and pasted the exact same tweet that I did, which is clearly date stamped as 5th July 11.31pm. It doesn''t say 6th July on my twitter, and my timezone is set to GMT, so I suggest that you go to your settings and indicate to twitter that you live in the United Kingdom. https://twitter.com/davidmcnally62/status/353279990017691648That way, you will get the correct time and date presented to you, and we won''t have to have silly arguments like this one. When you click my link, what time and date does it show you? My is correct because I''ve just clicked ''details'' on a brand new 10 second old tweet and it says: 12:16 AM - 7 Jul 13
