  1. All is not lost as we are obviously far from being relegated whilst teams above us fail to go on winning runs. However, at the game on Saturday the defence that had looked so solid earlier in the season was in disarray, Huckerby on the wing made us horribly exposed on the left, Holt played like a man in the wrong glasses and Leon and Sven proved, that unlike the Charlton forwards and midfielders, they are not Premiership finishers. In addition the controlled spirit that we had in earlier games has been replaced by either a chaotic desperation when at tempo or in slower parts of the game, everybody wearing diver''s boots and blindfolds.

Unfortunately, on form and ability, this was probably almost the best side we can put out besides, perhaps, Saffri and Shackell. I think we are therefore probably already doomed unless some amazing motivational action or event happens soon. Shame isn''t it, we were all so full of hope.

    PS. Ward looked rickety too!

  2. Whatever the line up, you can''t drop Leon or Sven so that means Huckerby on the wing. If that''s the case I would only play Drury if fully fit and fill the rest of the midfield with defensively capable midfielders, e.g. Helveg, Francis and Safri perhaps. The back four were poor last week but I would be surprised if anything changed. To some extent it is less about the formation and more about attitude, when we believe, we pass and / or take on defenders when we do that well we score.

  3. If we act really quickly perhaps we can encourage Bryan Robson to save us from the indignity we have recently suffered under Nigel and come to Norwich rather than to the baggies. His experience at Middlesbrough and Bradford could really help and his tactical and player purchasing nous is second to none. He could also rid us of the inherent drinking culture if we had one.

I bet he wouldn''t play Holt.

  4. DD, thank god you realised I was joking, I was beginning to despair. I''d just had enough of the sack the board, formations and January windows for one day.

Heid Klum should have of course read Heidi Klum, although if there is a Heid Klum out there who is Scandanavian, slightly past their sell by date and is looking for £15k a week until the pension kicks in, you can bet we are having a look at him.

PS. You were right about Iwan, as everyone knows he is married to the beautiful film actress Julia Roberts.

  5. I think that we should never have sold that nice Iwan Roberts, particularly now that he is going out with Jamelia ( I think this is right), we would have goals and glamour at every game and if Myleen Klass could play right midfield in a Scandanavian style (one half only at an Italian pace) that we would be even better and nobody would care what the score was, there''d be no more booing and we wouldn''t have to spend any money in January unless Green leaves in which case we should put Heid Klum in goal.

    Sorted.

  6. I try and be positive about our chances in the Prem but I believe that our chances of staying up took a body blow on Saturday, not just because we didn''t win but the reasons for defeat.

Blackburn, table position would suggest, are a poor team, but the majority of their subs bench would have been starting for City. I thought that at times they played as well as Villa, Portsmouth, Everton and certainly Palace played at Carrow Road this season, and whilst we allowed them to on occasions, there was still quality in the side that we do not have.

Secondly, Huckerby on the wing is an attacking but high risk option with Drury just back from injury and a 50-50 chance on Friday. In addition they dealt with Hucks quite well, he wasn''t on top form and Stephen Reid is no mug. Huckerby made no effort to track back, at best adopting the Llewelyn ''running alongside the opponent'' tactic which is next to useless.

To compound this, Jonson tried but once again showed poor form again playing behind Edworthy more than in front of him, but offering neither a defending nor attacking option.

So in effect we had no protection for either full back.

Henderson is not a winger, he''s a central attacker, McKenzie and Sven were excellent, but Worthy took Leon off. 2 really poor tactical decisions.

Holt and Francis were good as was Green, but for the first time this season Fleming had a total mare and Charlton was little better both defending and passing out of defence. When they were down to one attacker why didn''t they both stay on Dickov if they were struggling so badly on their own?

So, summing up, still no wins, Birmingham won at Liverpool where we trounced and I thought they were in free fall prior to this result. Blackburn lacked confidence but still had more class than us, even with 10 men.

Our front men didn''t let us down, but as a team we were tactically inept and now I don''t know if we need a striker, a competent playmaker or a quick centre half in January. Patently Worthy was naive at best and our tactics inept before and after scoring. Saturday was our lucky day and we blew it.

I believe we''ll win games but we are back to last seasons team plus Charlton ( minus Malky) and we do not have the quality or the tactical nous to stay up. Just the work rate.

  7. I know I''m not the first to say it 1st Wizard, but you are being boring and getting people down with the same dull thread wreathed in your mock olde english / mystical way which if written by anybody less fussy in their prose would just be a pointless rant.

    Have a word with yourself.

  8. I felt very positive after the game and thought that there was some good performances, Harry Redknapp said it was a good point and as so many other teams are drawing we moved off the bottom.

Now this morning almost every post and thread is negative and whilst some are mildly constructive most are the usual ''pinch penny City with crap Scandanavians fail to win again. P.S. Holt still useless'' variety.

Little over a year ago pre- Hucks, Harper, Crouch we were going nowhere and less than a year later people are complaining that we failed to win at Manchester City. Some people need to get real, realise we can''t buy ''til January and stop bringing the rest of us down.

There were probably people booing Henderson''s every move from their living rooms when he came on, just keeping their hand in for Saturday.

Perhaps it''s time I found a new message board.
