Russell Martin and the myth of Spillane
Northern Canary replied to Morisons Prozac's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
spillane will be the #1 RB at this club within the next 2 seasons.
Why? I don''t think Spillane is a bad player and i would be happy to see him in the side, but I agree with the post and I think we are still yet to see what his level is. Hes certainly worth a shot at the Championship but its hard to know how it will go, thats why I would like to see another right back brought in. -
I agree with this. It should be used just for the goal line and depending on cost it should maybe start in high profile competitions and higher leagues.

How much do we need a striker?
Northern Canary replied to Salopian's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
We can get by with what we have but i dont think that is Lambert''s ambition for this season. It was very noticeable when Holt was absent last season, and so while Cody and Oli are realising their potential it would be good to have a finished package ready to step in. -
Norwich to sign Simeon Jackson?
Northern Canary replied to birchfest's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Initially 500K sounded a bit too much for him, but unfortunately all strikers are overpriced at the moment. -
Which football pundit do you like the most?

Hansen, Shearer and Dixon -
PFA Transfer List here -
Northern Canary replied to norfolkbroadslim's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
A lot of these players past their peak a few years back and are now on their way down, but with high wages. I think Lamberts looking to find people to make a name for themselves here. -
Fox signs...
Northern Canary replied to Canary Man of Kent's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
If hes a passer, not a tackler, then im not surprised he was anonymous at Colchester, but pitches as bad as that arent too common fortunately -
First Few Games next Season.
Northern Canary replied to I am a Banana's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
One of the relegated teams may suffer from that "adjustment" period at the start of the season, so maybe one of them. -
Has Rusty finally gone?
Northern Canary replied to Adam NCFC's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I thought he was a key factor in the success of the diamond last season, so it would be good to keep him on. However, if a player doesnt want to be here i think its better to find a replacement, and despite proving his worth last season there may still be question marks about how he copes at championship level. Did well for stoke but poorly for us, albeit under Glenn Roeder. -
Fox signs...
Northern Canary replied to Canary Man of Kent's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
These are the sort of signings I would expect given the sort of budget we are probably faced with after years of loans and a relegation. Lambert will probably be looking for potential rather than big names. Its clear he has a system set out and has found players he wants to fit into that, so im quite happy with whoever he signs. Id be quite wary of splashing out large sums of money on individual players currently, with so many clubs falling into severe financial difficulty. -
Which would you take??

Play offs every time -
Wes can use his right foot!
Northern Canary replied to Lewie - Holt Our Saviour's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
He uses it when hes training before the game, but then goes back to running 360 round the ball during. -
Are we strong enough for the Championship?
Northern Canary replied to Superflash's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Id say we are good enough to get by in the Championship but need strengthening if we want to push on. -
We are always going to miss Holt''s physical presence up front, but that doesnt mean Doherty is going to be a better option than Johnson or Cody simply because hes taller and stronger. We have two much better strikers than doherty, if we are missing the target man the team needs to try and adapt rather than putting a defender up front.

Nelson over Askou??
Northern Canary replied to Row D Seat 7's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Our team seemed more solid with Askou/Spillane at the back, although im sure someone will have some stats to contradict that. -
could grant holt do a neil redfearn ?
Northern Canary replied to pennywise 's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I am quite confident that Holt can cut it in the championship. His time at Forest goes against him, but he did spend a lot of that time on the wing. -
The daily Leeds laugh-in
Northern Canary replied to willynaylor's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Some hand picked responses: Beauseant Said: "but I fail to understand how you can play with such spirit at Carrow Road, yet be so abject against Milwall and Swindon before and after." Didn''t you know, we are their cup final! Smudger Said: "They don''t score enough and conceed too many - the signs were there at Christmas and nothing was done in the January transfer window." In January Leeds had by far the best defence in the division - 0.56 goals per game. Their goals for record was 45 from 23, 3rd highest goals per game in the league. They had an 8 point lead and had lost once. If the signs were there, then they were written very small. source: http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/todec.html
I didnt realise Soton had been in the play offs at all this season. They did well to get there by the end of December -
Who will take 2nd ?
Northern Canary replied to blahblahblah's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Leeds could take advantage of millwall and swindon having to play each other. I think its impossible to predict, it could go down to the last day and then its really down to whoever plays best on the day.
