1. Are we getting a new home shirt next season then? I figured they would just throw the new sponsor on our existing shirt considering we''ve only had it one season. I hope we get a new one though as the collar on the current one is awful!
2. I think he has earned his high rating through years of hard work and excellent goalkeepeing (save against Horsfield in play-off final anyone?) but has seen his reputation diminish through our lack of a defence this season. Yes, his distribution was awful against Burnley, and I have no idea what he was doing for the second goal but the fact is he remains a quality keeper. After impressing last season and breaking into the England team he must be wondering what he is doing in the Championship, and it sometimes does show in his mannerisms. I do however believe he is replacable, but obviously i''d like to see him in excellent form next season as we try and forget about this one!
3. Watched the season review of that year and its got me thinking. Would we have been an established Premiership team by now or would we have gone down and stayed down? People could say its irrelevant as we went up two seasons later anyway but if we had gone up in 2002, we wouldn''t have been affected by the ITV digital collapse and would have played in a completely different league to what the prem was last season. What do you reckon? By the way, David Neilsen was superb for us that season!
4. When is the draw? Im hoping we get Boston (providing they get through) as my best mate supports them and would make an interesting match.
5. Not quite sure what you mean. Definately the most blatant fake over reaction ever.
6. With the Henderson moment I think he decided to chase it as the linesman didn''t flag at all. Usually the linesman does in that situation and its up to the ref to allow an advantage or to avoid blowing up for an unesscessary free kick. When Hendo saw that the flag was still down after looking at the linesman he decided to go for it and was quite rightly agrieved when he saw the linesman FINALLY raise his flag! Both linesman were quite shocking yesterday anyway IMO.
7. Very good performance although I think the scoreline was very flattering to Luton. In all honesty they were absolutely useless, how they are where they are in the league is beyond me judging by that performance. Still here goes..... Green - 7 Didn''t put a foot wrong and always looked assured. Wright - 7 Not a bad debut, nice and steady at the back. Drury - 7 Another consistent performance and made some good challenges Davenport - 9 Man of the Match. Absolute collosus at the back. Had the Luton forwards running out of ideas how to break us down. Great aerial presence. Doherty - 7 Solid in the air. Distribution could have been better. Safri - 6 Not his best game. Good in the tackle but first touch was lacking and seemed a bit off the pace. Etuhu - 7 Lively debut. Bedded in well, breaks up play in our half and distributes well. Full of running and unlucky not to score. Hughes - 6 Obviously out of position but adapted to his role well. Nice finish but he simply had to score! Huckerby - 7 Full of running and got his rewards. Ashton - 7 Great touches and occasional flashes of brilliance. Finishing a bit off but worked well and was an absolute handful for the whole Luton defence. Thorne - 7 Plugged away and did well supporting Ashton. I can''t help but want McKenzie back up front however in his place.
8. http://www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/News/Story_Page/0,7760,1786_832789,00.html So the Preston chairman has come out and said the deal isn''t certain for January yet, just that its an ''emergency loan''. To be honest, I think the deal probably is done, just that because Worthy said that a permanent deal had been agreed the Preston chairman has been forced to come out and say it hasn''t because these type of deals aren''t exactly above board and doesn''t want anybody to think otherwise.
9.
Firstly, to those of you who put Trevor Putney in their list, shame on you! Did you ever actually see him play? He ran around like a fox in the hen house, tackled like a nutter and was part of a...
Goss?! How dare you! Surely Thomas Helveg has to feature somewhere on this list? He claimed to be an international with years of top flight experience but had to be helped through Premiership matches (namely the one at Old Trafford) by players who had never played on that stage before. Apparently quite disruptive in the dressing room as well.
