  1. Nice try, the fans have made their feelings known and voted with their feet. Whether that is all about Dean Smith is debatable, but what is not is that he's been unable to get this squad to play the way he wants, and unable to entertain the crowd the way they want.

What was obvious was when we WERE winning we were playing terribly, and the probability we would stop winning was extremely high.

How did this team start 3/4?

    Chicago  - understandable

    Denver  - understandable

    Atlanta  - understandable

Kansas City - yeah what were they thinking?

He is spending more time on the pitch with the Niners defence being so good. At that is giving him more confidence. At more chance to establish which plays suit him better.

He's also been practicing against the 49ers defence all year. i.e running the opposition scout team v the 49ers defence. So although they are presumably told not to not him, he's been getting a lot of practice against very decent opposition 🙂

True. If Russ was to manage Manchester City it may work out fine. Otherwise just accept that tippy tappy doesn't work.

Seems to work a lot better than the cr@p "style" we are playing now... record points total, two Championship trophies, and a very clear and obvious bond between the team, manager, and fans if I recall correctly...

Russell Martin divided the fans massively as a player.

Only after he moved to Center Back though. Absolute stud for 3 seasons, and as a manager just what we need.

    Does this sound familiar?

Inspired by Guardiola's Barcelona and Manchester City teams, Martin prefers his teams to dominate ball possession.[47] Tactically, he prefers the 3–4–2–1 or 3–5–2 formations, with an emphasis on passing the ball and pressing the opposition.[47][64] If his teams suffer a bad result, Martin prefers to improve his game plan, rather than changing the style of play.[65]

Give our fans some credit. They have no objections to passing the ball around, they worshipped it under DF. They don't appreciate it being passed around because there is no other tactic so its done for the sake of it.

It's the "let's pass the ball back to our keeper from this throw in just outside the opposition's penalty area" that has the fans pee'd off - and quite right so. Where is the player who will take on the opposition: eh Mr Smith?

I'd probably go for Martin, failing him I'd be very interested in John Eustace from Birmingham.

I'd be fine with Martin, knows the club obviously, those that were his "peers" at the end of his time here will be out the door anyway this Summer, so he can focus on playing the way Farke instilled - very similar to what he's continued at Swansea - with the new crop of players.

We have a 20 goal striker in Sargent, a long term goalkeeper in Gunn, two ball playing center halves in Omobamadele and Gibson, decent central midfielders in Gibbs and Nunez, some wingbacks options in McCallum and Mumba plus two on-loan wingers Tzlois and Placheta. Add a defensive midfielder to allow Gibbs to play #10, or if not sold, Sarah to play there and he's pretty well set. Idah, Tomlinson, McLean, Rowe, Barden, Springett a decent enough bench.

Of course . I’m a Norwich fan. I’ll always renew whilst I am lucky enough to be able to get there and afford it. Dean Smith isn’t Norwich . Nor is Webber. It’s the shirt I support and always will.

Precisely. My connection to Norwich City is lifelong, and no manager or playing style will change that. However I do hope, even expect, for some positive return on that emotional and financial investment. Lambert provided it, Farke provided it. Smith is just the latest manager of the club who has given no sign that he can.

The bigger problem than immediate on-pitch success for me is what’s happening to the feeder teams - under Farke, every age group was being coached to play in the 1st teams style, heaven forbid we have thrown that away to play whatever this style of Smith’s is now.

I've been in the give him time camp since Smith arrived, but tonight had the feeling of when many other managers have reached the end of the road. I think he should go, and it should be this evening. He can have no complaints.

If Ricardo was reporting on this game (and we all understand the unfortunate reason why he won't be), he'd remind us that when the crowd turns on the manger there is no way back. Smith has had his chance, it's time for someone else to have their go.

Smith has to go. This is getting beyond a joke now. Losing Farke and replacing him with Smith feels like it is having the same effect as replacing Lambert with Hughton.

Yup, it's precisely that. Passion, energy, excitement, a slight tinge of disappointment we weren't quite good enough to beat the big boys, to this negative (and not successful) crap.
