  1. Maybe the club could just issue squad numbers in alphabetical order - then nobody could get upset.... or we go back to positional numbers - hey Russ you are playing CB today you get No.5, or hey Russ you are playing RB today you get No.3... that has the added advantage of letting old farts like me know who''s supposed to be playing where.... :-)
  2. Then let him leave next year on a free if necessary. We won''t get a big offer for him (as we did with Snoddy), he''s more useful to us in the squad than not, and when on form he''s a game changer...
  3. Who knows if he really will be missed, but can''t say that the English goalkeepers covered themselves in glory in Brazil...
  4. I guess we''ll just have to agree to disagree on what a different manger would do with RvW.
  5. I''d prefer to use the money to create the meanest and quickest defense in the entire league - I''m sure we''ll score enough goals.
  6. However the definition of a good manager is to maximize the performance of each asset under his control. Just because RvW didn''t perform as well as Snodgrass last year does not mean that the former has less talent or potential than the latter. A strong manager will often make unpopular decisions to make his enterprise work at the highest efficiency... ... or put another way, it''s the team that counts,
  7. I won''t ever be called football here, the dominant professional sport is already called that, so soccer it is... The American TEAM does do well, and it''s obvious that they are motivated to play hard for their country. Sadly England have underperformed in that regard for years - one of the reasons I think that we all so meekly accept another underwhelming campaign. Lots of Dutch and Mexican and Argentinian flags out where I live, and off to a local German club in Anaheim a bit later today...I never bothered to put my England flag up TBH. BTW - what''s with FIFA regulations messing around with all the traditional team colors ?
  8. IF he goes, then thank you for your contribution Snoddy. But, if you could only play one, would you rather teach Redmond to shoot, or teach Snoddy to run faster ... ?
  9. A big squad is going to be one of our advantages over the other clubs in our division the season. So it makes perfect sense to carry 4 strikers. If Snoddy is leaving, I thank him for his contribution, and look forward to seeing who we bring in to further improve the squad - a new right back, an extra center half ?
  10. i like that white with split yellow / green "huge pointy V thing" Mason 47.
  11. How about this same template with either white and green, or white and blue - the latter to reflect our original colors... We really only have Watford and Wolves to worry about a color clash, so that should take red and black out of consideration.
  12. Wikipedia can be unreliable at times but this is the logo they have for Norwich. It''s outlined in black, and that''s the way it is on the new shirt too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Norwich_City.svg 0.53 on this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI3fU7Qr2k8&list=UUzdkZv6--BWsUQ9rKUtQ1TQhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Norwich_City.svg If there was no black outline on the badge, then it may look more like that Dutch example...
  13. This is a guess, but I suspect that it may be related to trade mark protection. If the overall design of the badge is a registered mark, and not the relative position and size of the castle and canary, you can''t just drop the shield shape and use the other elements, without risking the loss of the use of the trademark.....
  14. Just our luck, now he''s injured, City staff will have some work to do to get him ready for the new season....
  15. That''s a great shame. But look on the bright side, it may dampen the chance of a summer transfer ....
  16. O.K time to reset this argument : statistically he may be the best player in the team, however the question is does the team play better without him or with him. IMO based on the play of the past two years, we are clearly unbalanced when he''s in the team, and I think we would play better without him. But if you think differently, I''d be interested to hear an explanation of why, and not just repeating that he won POTS or some other team(s) apparently want him..
  17. Why do all the other managers rate him ? Beats me, I can only tell you what I see...
  18. "England are giving us no opportunity to be positive and that is the most disappointing thing. They are giving the ball away under no pressure. Under pressure England can''t normally keep the ball but tonight they can''t keep it when under no pressure." Welcome to our world ...
  19. " We consistently attacked down that flank because it was our only effective one." Seriously? I can accept that we did attack mainly down the right, but we had Olsson and Redmond on the left and Fer and Howson down the middle. Are you saying those players are not as effective as Snodgrass, or was it the case of we chose to play Snodgrass as our outlet man? If I recall we tore Man City defense a new one without the services of Mr. Snodgrass.
  20. " I am a Norwich player I am contracted to them for the next three years so my commitment is to them. I am not thinking about anything else at the moment other than going back to Norwich." A standard answer maybe, but he''s right that he''s on a long term contract, so we should be able to get a big fee for him if one the big clubs - like Man Utd - comes sniffing. IMO he''ll stay with us though unless he has more breakthrough moments in this World Cup.
  21. If Reading could get 106 points and Leicester and Newcastle 102 then - A minimum of 100 points and some Silverware....
  22. Not a bad effort. Mainly yellow which is good IMO. If the canary and castle had been directly embroidered maybe they would stand out a little more, but maybe there''s a trademark protection issue. So overall happy with this kit - most important thing is we win lots of games in it of course!
  23. And there is a guy called Fer who''s on the fringes of the Holland squad who looks pretty decent.
  24. I''ll give him due, Snoddy can take a mean free kick, and he is very committed, but do you think that he''s suddenly going to be able to beat his man on the outside, or put in a consistent killer cross or corner? Or is he the man to replace Hoolahan and / or quickly link defense to attack ? - IMO - no, so I would''t be crushed to see him go.
