  1. Lot depends if we want to get 5th. If we're going for 6th only need 5 points even if all challengers won all their games.
  2. Don't you know there's a recession ? - clubs can't afford 45m !
  3. Yes I meant Suggett. I must say - that was a pretty good team in the mid 70s. Our 2nd stint in the old first division. Stayed there many seasons, beat top team in those days Liverpool most seasons and also set the record for the most draws in the top flight - 23 draws - think it's still a record. Tony Powell was part of the that team which included the likes of Keelan, Sullivan, Suggett, Paddon, Martin Peters, Boyer, Macdougall, Forbes, Stringer, Neighbour, David Jones, Reeves, Viv Busby, John Ryan, McGuire and many others not all mentioned. They should contact Dave Stringer to setup a documentary about the team of that era.
  4. Yes you're right. I remember the likes of Suggest, Reeves & Neighbour appearing with curly hear as well - but didn't look natural.
  5. If Powell had lipstick on even Lee Majors would has been confused !
  6. Tony Powell - has hair was like Farrar Fawcett's wasn't it ?
  7. As you didn't get it Feedthewolf. My comment is a joke with Paterson with his premature grey hair as having white paint specks in his hair after just finishing painting. Sorry about that Paterson.
  8. I blamed him even when he wasn't playing ? - very much doubt it ! You need to examine your records a bit closer. Do you watch the games ? I mean without consuming a large amount of beer beforehand ? It's his indecisiveness, unforced errors, total lack of ability to apply "best practices" in situations that changes the course of games, handing impetus to the opposition and leading to a collapse - small things but almost every time originating from him. We would be playing fine - then the ball comes to him ! I'm looking at the broader picture of what's happening on the pitch, not the odd headed clearance to determine if a player is good or not. None of our CBs are particularly good but to support the club & players I've always tried to look at his performances in a positive light but inevitably it's always happens - that's why it is brought up time & again - the frustration of it ! You don't enter a mule into the Grand National, its time some people realize that.
  9. Yes totally agree with your 2nd half formation - Fassnacht is 1st cab off the rank for me and a fast young buck such as Aboh would have given Wednesday's defence something to worry about. Unlike Barnes holding up the ball - clearly a defensive strategy.
  10. OK - Part-timer then - he painted a house before coming to the game.
  11. Not sure it's relaxing. The opposition make it to halftime, speak to their coach and come out a better team after the break. We needed to be 3 up. Goals are not easy to put away. I think in the Ipswich/Southampton game - Southampton had about 27 shots in the 1st half but only scored 2. Ipswich recovered after the break to score 3 and win it.
  12. Was saved by the keeper in that game as well. I think in the 87th minute one of their strikers (I think Al Hamadi) left him for dead - but Gunn came charging out to block !
  13. Wednesday have mastered their corners to perfection - especially those taken from the right. Method was very simple, cramming all their big guys in or around our 6 yard box, boxing Gunn in so he can't use his hands, then accurate crosses into the danger area - both their goals came from identical accurate corners from the right. Why do you think I'm so peeved off with Gibson & co ? This is where I thought we had a bit of strength - Gibson, Batth, Handley & Duffy - they don't have any other skills but heading the ball - not the case - both their two goals came from those set pieces. Also the corners came about via Gibson's initial feeble skills & inability to play it out, after that they applied continuous pressure and we were forced time & again to clear behind our own goal-line. How to defend those corners - Gibson to grow a pair, cut-out the excuses and show why he is one of the clubs top earners which we paid £10m !
  14. It's absolutely incredible how everything I thought would happened - did just that. I know it's down to the lack of depth in the squad. But when Sargent was subbed off with us 2-0 up, I knew (I think most did) we would be lucky to retain the lead - we needed at least 3 to be safe and for him to go off. With CBs like ours, it's always going to be luck that sees us through. Once again Gibson - Wednesday's 12th man influence the result. Missing headers/ tackles that led to their 1st goal and giving them momentum. I know he's useless but heading the ball unchallenged use to be his only forte - can't even do that now ! One of the best in the division say the happy clappers - how did a 40 year old Paterson bambooze both he (Gibson) and Batth so easily when they were ahead of him in the chase ? He only needed to put his body between Paterson and the ball ! Is he still a professional footballer ? Junior girls are taught that in training ! Those still talking up Gibson should watch the segment of play leading up to the corners leading up to the 1st goal & the complete 2nd half if you wish. He remains the weak link of the team. Disaster waiting to happen - resting Sargent, playing Gibson - it won't end well !
  15. Putting Mclean into CB gave us a player who confidently carried the ball out of defence and made telling passes. Something that we did not have with Gibson. It had the desired affect as we were around 14th-17th on the ladder when Mclean was moved to CB in the first week of December. That change gave us the momentum to our current position, although McLean no longer plays CB, others have upped their game. So dropping Gibson ( not losing Gibson) and replacing him with McLean was creating new solutions - well done Wagner !
  16. Binner or not - as I recall Milton was a real decent footballer. When Chase was Chairman, we had the likes of Stringer and Walker running the football side - they knew how to build decent football teams - in fact the most successful period in the history of the club. So the decision to acquire Milton was made after they "ran the rule over him". Crikey comparing Milton to some of the overpaid cr4p we have hovering about at the club today - I'd take Milton any day !
  17. hogesar, if thousands upon thousands of Norwich fans & supporters complain about his (Gibson's) performances & some even boo him; if he makes hideous errors in front of our eyes; if he replicates a rabbit in headlights in most games - he's definitely useless ! Nothing to do if he's a nice person or not. We need better CBs
  18. wow, lets throw a few more games !!! - as long as it hurts Ipswich right ?!
  19. Is Zoe Webber the majority shareholder of the club ? If keeping her at the club is detrimental to the club's wellbeing then she must be asked to resign. What is important is how other people, in particular potential trainees view the club - who cares about making Zoe Webber comfortable !
  20. Of all the posts logged via multiple threads on this subject - this statement hit home the most ! It is imperative that the club takes a strong stance to disassociate itself from Webber. The consequence for the club is absolutely massive ! Webber has offended not only the players but their parents as well. Jonathan Rowe is currently one of the superstars of our club - Webber may have helped him decide whether to play for us next season or not ! Our club is about recruiting young trainees and developing them into potential superstars - young stars will avoid us like the plague ! Who will want to join us ? The club must show that it is outraged with Webber's comments - sue him for putting the club at risk and standing down Zoe ! The future of the club is at stake so the club must act decisively. We must be clean and pure of Webber !
  21. Don't make too much noise - 3pm is around nap time, the oldies like a snooze. You're lucky they didn't call noise control !
  22. Total Agree - Rupp was massively underrated !
  23. Overrated - Gibson Underrated - Hernandez
