Chris Hughton out, yes or no?
TynemouthCanary replied to SYG's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I don''t really agree with that either Chunky. We will have to some extent ''muddled through'' this season to a stage in the Club''s development where we are debt free and with a new TV deal that will give us the chance to sign 5 or 6 quality players, not just RVW. You can bet that most of those will be attacking players and if we can bolt quality onto the existing back 4, keeper and holding midfielder I think the prospects for next year look very good.
Quite right. The alternative would be to boot Hughton out, pay him and his staff a pile of cash (which could instead go on players), pay his replacement''s club a pile of cash (which could instead go on players), then expect the new man to build his squad on top of the remains of Lambert''s and Hughton''s players. Continuity seems a better idea. -

Ricardo's report v Reading
TynemouthCanary replied to ricardo's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Thanks Ricardo. As someone who very rarely gets to games, I always enjoy reading your reports; especially on days like today, where, instead of finding a stream, I end up trudging round IKEA. -
Wed very likely be competing with Newcastle, assuming they (and we) stay up. They were within a gnat''s crotchet of signing him in January. He may well be swayed by their current French contingent too. I''d say they have the edge financially too, unfortunately...

Reading Predictions
TynemouthCanary replied to Rudolph Hucker's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
1-1. Snoddy scores first half, Reading score late on.. Keep getting draws away and winning at home and we''ll be OK.Wolf Hall was great by the way. -
Where do you watch Norwich matches in tynemouth ? Was up there a few weeks back and watched the Norwich game in copperfields bar (grand hotel ) nice place you love in !!
Often in Copperfields Ric. It''s a fine bar. Also the Turk''s Head on Front Street is worth a look.

The far right have always attached themselves to football clubs and crowds Divs, so I think it does have some relevance, yes. I''m sure lots of people on this board remember the poisonous atmosphere at some grounds when black players were on the pitch.Opinions are one thing, but I think the EDL and their mates are prone to translating their opinions into physical action. But that''s just my opinion, of course...

Shame. It''s a long time since I lived in the fine city, but sad to hear that this lot are polluting the place again..I remember the NF/BNP boneheads hanging round selling their papers in the 80s; despite Norwich having a very small non-white population and absolutely no racial tensions to speak of at the time.

Lots to choose from but for me it''s Eric Gates. I remember all too well the poison dwarf gurning and snarling his way through games at our place and theirs. Twunt. Living in the North East, I often came across him on a local radio show called, with no apparent sense of irony, ''Legends''; featuring Newcastle icon (and publicans friend) Malcolm MacDonald, Middleborough star Bernie Slaven, and Sunderland bellend Eric Gates. It was nice at least to know that all the Geordies hated him too!

True, it''s rarely worth reading anything beyond the second page. The original point has usually long since departed, along with reasoned debate and common sense. -
Newcastle Station / St James' Park
TynemouthCanary replied to Excited Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Leave stadium, and look downhill, where you will see a big Chinese arch. Go through arch, and carry on along the street (Stowell Street). The street starts with an OK pub (Rosies Bar) but you don''t have time for that. You''re now in Chinatown, and will see lots of restaurants. Go to the end, and turn left down the pedestrianised slope. At the bottom, you''ll see an excellent pub called Tilleys; pity you don''t have time. Instead, bear left down Westgate Road, and turn right at the next corner, onto Clayton Street West (when you get to the O2 Academy in other words). Head down Clayton Street West to the far end; you''ll see a pub with it''s windows full of old album covers; the Dog and Parrot. Luckily, you won''t have time. Look to your left, and you''ll see the station just down the road. 15 minutes max. -

Bor Bor Bor wrote ''Do you really think premier league clubs are run on "back of a fag packet" economic and financial plans?'' Looking back over the last ten years, quite possibly. It''s a shame we can''t act the big club like Leeds, Portsmouth, Rangers etc... -

Good to know there''s more of us about! Yeah I imagine Tynemouth will be packed. As it happens I''m off to Norwich for the weekend so will miss the torch-related shenanigans. The 2006 Tynemouth Canary was me, yes. Despite numerous password resets I''ve never managed to reactivate the account, so finally gave up and opened a new one. -
