  1. -------------------Ruddy--------------------- Martin - Turner - Bassong - Olsson -------------- Fer ------------Johnson----- -------------------Hoolahan ---------------- Hooper -------- RvW ------- Redmond But at the end I think neither Hoolahan and RvW wont play and Elmander & Snoddy will replace them. But if we are trailing in the second half that we would try something like that. In my opinion this should be Wolf''s game because of his height and as Everton''s game is based quite much in posession these days Hoolahan would be perfect man to cause some trouble for their playmaking and same time give us some boos in keeping the ball. Hopefuly Fox is at the bench as if Fer is exhausted as in few previous games we could use some fresh legs even thought their level is totally different.
  2. Yeah I did think always Surman a bit too average in every area, but he was very useful player and we have lot of games where we struggle to keep posession where he could shine. In my opinion he is a bit like a Howson but a wide player. Has some goals in him, good work ratio and decent in all areas, but master in none. Also had some goals in him. I also struggle to see how he wouldn''t have fit in our 25 men, but mayby he just couldn''t find his form after injury and seems still to struggle in championship thought I think being creative player on lower half team doesnt give you any favours in that rugby league ^^
  3. Yeah one of those managers that come with high risk and high reward. His game in Betis as said based quick attacking game and high pressure on the ball when opponent came up from last third. But if he cant get his strategy work it might be relegation fight for them
  4. I''m quite happy we are even linked for names like him. Few years back he was considered to be most promising CB and even thought hype around him didn''t carry his weight at the end he has become quite good CB and definitely would be upgrade for our current CB''s even Bassong. Too bad he didn''t want to join if rumours were true in first place.
  5. Howson was bought to be goal scoring player for our midfield. He is CM not a CAM nor a playmaker. He is closer to Fox as a playertype than a Hoolahan. You just check how many times he played in Hoolahan spot in Lambert''s tactics. Also if he isn''t premier league player we are quite much in trouble as we probably have 3 or 4 players that are. He might not fit in current tactic, but in a tactic with pure 10 he definently has premiership standard.
  6. In my opinion we should be looking better player. Too one sided and already 24 years and does not even get games in scottish national team. I personaly think Johnson as better player and Tettey quite much better player as defensive midfielders and Fer - Howson - Hoolahan are better ball players than him. So no from me.
  7. Well with his ability, age and role earlier this season and linked players in previous summer I wouldn''t be so surprised if he want''s to move. But this way or that is up to club will we let him. I was expecting him to leave this summer anyway, if we stay up. Would be first name in my team from current players any day so sad to see, if he really wants to leave, but no big surprise.
  8. Indy well Wes has started our two previous games in league so we certainly have some REAL use for him. Also you still have to have full bench and as I said his wages are quite low in this league for his quality attacking midfielder. So replacing him on the bench with similar or better quality would still "waste" same money. Even if we sign someone to start games in that position I''m quite sure Howson, Elmander and Tettey are quite much in same wages and one of them would have to sit on the bench. Squad depth is almost equally important than strong starting 11. Also should we sell Ryan Bennett? 1 appearance less than Hoolahan and only 200 minutes more playtime in a position where he is second choise for two places in any formation we use. So at the end your reasoning has a big hole in it. I would agree with you if Hoolahan really would be easy to replace from our current squad, but even if all our midfielders and wingers would be fit he would be quite important player to have in bench to have a different option for last third and until he is someway replaced we really shouldn''t sell him until the summer where we have bigger pot to spend.
  9. Indy Bones, I''m sorry but I have agree with Nigel. Your main argument is that we should sell no matter how good player he is, because we are not using him. He has played only 30 minutes less than Tettey and a bit over one game less than Pilkington. Even thought this is mainly because injuries, but both of these players are quite important for us. Wes might be only bench player, but he is regulary sitting at least on the bench and used from there if situation reguires it. Also we know for quite sure he is under 30k per week wages and that is quite low for attacking midfielder. In this contest and in a situation where we almost certain will have only 2 wingers fit, 2 out of our 4 midfielders are still at least half fit I really see him and I think Hughton sees him as a useful squad player. So if we sell him for ridiculous price of 1,5millions. Where we can find upgrade in January window who is reliable as him and with similar wage. Before we are almost sure of getting a replacement or clearly better offer. We would be almost insane to sell him. We still have half season left and anything can happen during that period. Those players who are now warming the bench can become our most important players.
  10. In a team game striker is part of the team and he has role to play. I dont know what our strikers are told to do, but what Hughton has said in interviews it seems RvW has a different role in the field than Hooper and Elmander. In my opinion only way to judge striker is to see how happy your manager is for him and does he do mistakes when he get''s cball or look dangerous from those half chances and how good work rate he has and add those to his physical attributes (speed, strenght, height etc) In my opinion our all 3 strikers are just fine in this area and Hooper scoring more than RvW is more luck than anything else. Elmander ofc almost never plays a role where he would get same chances than Hooper. In my opinion we have 3 good players and if we get tactics work RvW will overthrown Hooper as he looks that much better player.
  11. Yeah if you have a twins and in training they look from distance exactly same. How you are going to tell who is doing the right thing and who is not, if they are not wearing numbers or you cant see it? ^^ So good thing that at this point someone tells them to be a bit different
  12. If Man City pays half of his wages he would be great loan signing for us. Specially because he can play at RB. But really can''t see this happening ^^
  13. Also if Ox get''s fit and gives some good show rest of the season he is quite surely replacing Walcott even thought not a pure winger. But after him and Lennon there is still room in the squad and even thought Sterling and Townsend are at the moment probably front of our Redmond that doesn''t mean he would have a chance to be a sub
  14. He is not bad player at all. Would strenghten the team if he wouldn''t bring anything fancy. He certainly is a player who works for the team and instead of trying to do everything on his own tries to feed the strikers. Something we lack on the wings. A bit too slow for my taste, but if he is playing when Snoddy isn''t that shouldn''t change anything.
  15. Barossa: Well I have watched almost all games he have played for us. There is nothing abysmal in his touches and compared to Hooper for example he is in another level what comes handling difficult passes. Lad has good technique.
  16. In my opinion we are in right track here as we have two options. 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 In first we lack deep lying playmaker and for second we lack advanced playmaker whose name would be picked first in team selection. We have Fox and we have Hoolahan and for the rest two spots we have Fer/Howson and Tettey/Johnson who are similar with eachother. In Hughton''s books either Hoolahan and Fox are not good enough. In my opinion this lack of trust is biggest of Hughton''s problems and he should give these two players more chances. I personaly think Howson is decent player, but he is overrated. Same somewhat goes for Fer, but he is completely different level as complete midfielder than Howson is. Howson probably is better dribbler and has better attitude but in other areas they are either equal or Fer bests him. Tettey in other hand is so underrated among the fans that it hurts. Previous season in my opinion he was the reason why Johnson shined as his mobility gave Johnson so much time to do his job as a enforcer. Fer doesnt give same cover and this is somewhat reason why people have jumped over Johnson this year even thought he have played couple good games among bad ones. I personaly think we should play with trio Fer- Tettey - Hoolahan always when they are fit. 3 completely different player to cover different roles. In 4-3-3 I see same problem that neither RvW and Hooper are that good to play completely alone, but in my books this is quite easily covered by dropping Snoddy and replacing him either another striker or a Pilkington or Redmond. Another problem in 4-3-3 is our right back as if we have two incutting wingers or even false winger in other wing and all of them advanced positions, width and closing is done by fullbacks and where Olsson has speed to get down, Martin and Whittaker will struggle and neither is a good crosser.
  17. I personaly think he has more hunger than any other player. He runs like a mad dog some times and that probably is part of problem that he tries to prove himself too much. He clearly has best touch from our strikers, he makes lot of good runs and in my opinion people who say he has no strength only see his slim figure. He has won many duels against big CB''s both ground and aerial. He has same problem than our other strikers before him that we cant give him enough chances to convert. We need more those balls behind the back 4. Beyond few long range efforts Hooper haven''t done anything more than RvW and with our goal ratio people should look a bit more where the goals come from and not who scores them.
  18. I get your point Ricardo, but as so many have stated here he is more worth for us than 1,5 millions. Even if he would have only one year left of his contract and would walk free at summer that wouldn''t be a reason to sell him for a club that is fighting for same places with us, not to mention if we drop down Wes suddently becomes class above than what other clubs in that league has to offer. So in my opinion it is better to keep him until the summer and let him go for lesser sum with better time to replace him and not giving any advantage for our rivals. 1,5m in current prices is just ridiculously low sum in January for a move between teams in same league from a proven player.
  19. Well if Hughton doesn''t trust him and he has not shown anything in training to prove it otherwise the answer is that he shouldn''t play when we are fighting for a win at the end of the game. I feel pity for him, but in my opinion club haven''t done anything wrong. In his first chances he was in my eye just too slow and his touch was poor for a in form striker from championship he was ment to be. I dont think him as that bad player that he couldn''t play a game in premier league, but I think he isn''t one for our tactics.
  20. As Herman says only real way is to vote with your feet. When you go to the game you go there to support team. If you only go to watch pure dominance and beautiful fast goal scoring game, you are anyway watching wrong team or wrong league and hope for relegation. (well some of you seems to hope it anyway just to prove point). So either support the team those 90minutes and boo after game or dont go to watch. There are players out there whose carreer has gone downwards after crowd turned against them. So it really can affect players. Royston Drenthe refused to play in home games anymore at Real Madrid for example and what a prospect he was back then. Anywa boo and moan or not, I''m quite sure we stay up. Just really supporting the team would probably give you more pleasant game experience and probably get more out of our players. If the game is so dull to watch, why dont you do like in Germany and start a singing contest with opponent fans.
  21. Wes made we score against CP and created 2 good chances. He was our best player again Manu. He still is decent player and he can be used equally well in any formation that uses clear 10 spot than in diamond. Now is he irreplaceable? No. As I said if we get in this window before he leaves a similar player who is younger and at least good as him we can sell. But before that offers like 1,5million are worth of nothing from a proven premiership player. And still world is full one legged players light weight players that are world class. Wes isn''t world class player, but in out level he is useful profile player who can create us more chances and room at the last third of pitch. And if you understand a thing about football you know you shouldn''t sell useful player before you have replaced him. In our case we probably shouldn''t sell him anyway in January without really good offer as half of our midfield is injured.
  22. And Ray I dont know what games you are watching, but at least Olsson and Whittaker doesn''t have any orders to stay back and defend instead of supporting our wingers. So doubt it would be the case with Martin dropping. In my opinion Hughton thought against CP we could get more flair at wing by bringing Whittaker instead of Martin. Also we have one deep midfielder whose duty is to be an anchor and second midfielder whose role is support and read the game when we play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. We try to keep formation quite much always, but our midfield isnt ordered to stay put. Another one of them is just covering runs of fullbacks and other one is lurking outside the box for rebounds. in 4-4-2 this has created too much space between midfield and strikers as GJP mentioned, but I think this is mostly because of injuries. In two previous games where we have used Wes and those where we had 3 pure midfielder those gaps have been ok. In my opinion some of our players have let us down this season and sometimes Hughton is just asking too much from midfield.
  23. De Bruyne or Holtby on loan and hopefuly with decent buy option.. And buy Ryan Gauld and loan him back immediately for Dundee or one of the attack minded Eredivisie teams. One of those players that has diamond vision, but still somewhat under the radar of big clubs because of tinpot league and low prestige club and nationality. Last chance to get him cheaply with average risk. Magnus Eriksson and play him as a more advanced option for Snoddy in 4-3-3. (Also sell Becchio and he is our fourth striker.) Should be quite cheap and has quite a lot of muscle to compete in premier league. Montoya on loan from Barcelona and hopefuly we can get him free at summer. ^^ Sebastian Rudy is free during the summer so mayby cheeky bid to strenghten our defensive midfield positions. Matthias Ginter (CB) has also shown interest moving out of Freiburg this summer so could be option and is considered quite talented even thought still young. But in reality I doubt we see nothing more than 1 really strengthening move and mayby 1 backup player to ensure we have wingers even thought Pilkington and Bennett would be out rest of the season.
  24. I think I read he got hip injury few months back? Anyway even thought he clearly has some creativity in him I think he is a bit too old and a bit too average for us. Also with Pilkington and Redmond I think our incutting left winger position is quite much filled already and we need competition on right wing where he isn''t good as on left. Thought he could play in Wes role, but in my opinion he wouldn''t be good as Wes and would be equal problem for Hughton to sort out. What comes to McManaman I think he haven''t been that good this season what I have heard? I could be wrong and he is still young, but I wouldn''t like to spend a lot for a english player with big question mark over him if you can get equally big risk from France or Germany for example and pay half from him.
