1. Well I thought that was obvious?. Have you forgot we''ve had two crap managers both playing completely differing styles (or should i say ''trying to play'') before Lambert?. As per all press and radio, I viewed yesterday (on the net) with great pride. Lovely football, great work ethic and a team starting to gel. Excitedly looking forward to seeing the first choice 11 now Long may it continue.
2. That was a wonder goal. We''re passing the ball now, no more hit it up the channels, no more hoof it from the back upfield. There''s a nice steady feel to it now, helped by having the likes of KEA and Vlaar in the side with their preference for Dutch style football We just need Bent back fully match fit and firing now
3. KEA is already seen by many as our best signing of the summer (although tbf all the ones that''ve started so far have looked our better players). He''s been great so far, so composed and good with the ball. And all for 2.5m From yesterday, it looks as if Lamberts total change of style (our 3rd in three seasons!) is finally starting to click Chuffed with that. It''ll be small steps and slow progress but that was a welcome showing Will be interesting to see if the 4 new lads get in the side next time out, along with Gabby, Dunne and Albrighton Onwards
4. By signing a mixture of foreign internationals for low ish fees, and some excellent young prospects for peanuts Eight in We''re still very weak in terms of experience, but this was always going to be a rebuild with an eye on the long term rather than a quick fix of over paid and under used squad fodder like under previous managers Onwards!. Enjoy the season
5. Good wake up call yesterday! Lambert''s not getting any blame, it''s all on Lerner and the board right now. It''s spend or fuck off time Gonna be another bumpy ride this season
6. Nevada Smiths is gone ... WTF How come ?
7. If I''m in NYC and ever want to watch a Villa match I always go to Nevada Smiths, 125 East 11th Street (between 3rd and 4th avenue) Great bar!
8. Nobody is ''unhappy'' Some are just questioning why he''s had such a radical change of tactics from last season to this No more, no less
9. I''m surprised this hasnt been started yet What a piss poor day for both of us
10. Say what you will, but El Ahmadi looks a real find for peanuts, and I''m sure Vlaar will turn out a perfect replacement for Dunne too. It might take em both a bit of time to get up to speed though. Lowton I have no idea about, it''s a big step up from Div 1. But if he''s worse than fucking Hutton I''ll be amazed
11. We''ll be fine. I think most Villa supporters will be happy with anything between 12-10th this season. Its a season of transition after two of horror This time next year all of O''Neills crazy overpaid donkeys will be out of contract and all will be well The wage bill has already been reduced to a perfect 50% of turnover (it was around 85%!) and the coffers are refilling Looking forward to this season more than any in a long long while. There''s a breath of fresh air around again and not before time That said. I''m half expecting a slow start and for it to take a few months to click as Lambert has completely changed our style of play already. It won''t click overnight AJ
12. Best away pub is the Eight Bells. About 100 yards from tube station. And about a ten minute walk through the park to the ground
13. I''ve never fucking heard of him
14. Oo ar! You can''t beat this forum to liven up an afternoon I can''t believe some folks are STILL bitter. I know plenty of blues fans and they don''t act like this about losing their manager to your lot!. And they''ve got to factor in their manager to a smaller club too Priceless. Roll on kick off
15. We''re all in utter panic in Aston this morning
16. Apart from the appalling McCartney shambles at the end I thought it was great Totally unique and British. Just as it should be Not that I give 2 fucks about the Olympics mind
17. Yellow? You might want to get your eyes tested Number 9 Not that colour blindness can be treated that I know of
18. Just a Midlands update for you. Villa havent bid and there''s no talk of them doing so either
19. Ok, just like before. I''m off nowWill be back at Christmas to happily discuss how our respective seasons are shaping up (good or bad!)All the bestAJ
20.

4. Arsenal would never appoint him either. They''re too foreign obsessed, and want sexy football over results
This single statement alone shows how completely clueless you are about football.Under Wenger, Arsenal have finished in the top four EVERY SINGLE YEAR, whilst managing to have an overall transfer defecit of just 4.5 mil compared to the Chelsea''s and Man City''s who''s is closer to 500 mil or more over the same time span.Add in the titles and cups during this period along with the attractive style of play, and if that''s not getting results, I don''t know what is.
I'' not sure which bit of the above goes against anything i said TBF ?As I said, Arsenal put playing sexy football ahead of actually winning anythingAs proven by their xxx amount of trophy less years. I have 3 Arsenal season ticket holding mates (long term ones) and you ask any one of them if they''re happy paying nearly £900 a season for ''oh so close, but oh so far'' every season. Are they heck! They want TROPHIES
21.
What has Lambert ever really achieved
That is, a VERY good question/pointAll he''s done so far is raise the levels of expectancy at a couple of unfashionable lower league clubsBUTEvery manager needs to start their career somewhere. He''s put in the spade work and has now earned his chance at a big club. Whether he''s good enough to take that on and really make a name for himself nobody knows. It''s no different to Rodgers at Liverpool. He''s achieved nothing (in fact apart from doing alright at Swansea he''s done absolutely NOTHING)But, the feel good factor is back all over Birmingham. And even if he fails, the relief at seeing the back of McLeish will shine on for a long time yetLets all just enjoy our new respective managers
22.
AJ you''re funny! Deluded but very funny..... Lambert will be with you 12/18 months max if he does well or you sack him sooner (you normally start bleating after 4/5 games I believe) because you have expectation clearly linked to the 70''s. Lambert did an excellent job but really glad we''ve got the better deal now. Houghton has more class... Enjoy next season, we will.
All we won in the 70''s were 2 League Cups! (granted that matches your entire history in terms of trophies won)I know, you desperately want to think Lambert will jump ship from us as he did you and Colchester. But surely even you can see the difference ?He''s done his latest Quantum Leap and found himself at one of England''s biggest/grandest old clubsHe wont be wanting Ziggy to turn up and beam him away anytime soon. It''ll only be downhill once he does leave. This is his BIG chance. And i''m told he more than knows it and is more than ready to make himself succesful now he''s got the chance
