1. If the player values are in the accounts I'd imagine it was the current amortised value of the players at that time e.g value of the transfers fee paid, but with reductions calculated based on length of contract left for each player that we had paid a transfer fee for, and not the potential sales value of the squad. I doubt loans fees would not be included in any other these figures. I believe a high percentage of the way bill was due to promotion bonuses. It would of been interesting to see what the wage bill would of been in the second season if we had stayed up.
2. I doubt one of his ex-teammates will have nice things to say about Keith Colman! https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/21058307.trustees-norfolk-charity-including-norwich-city-legend-bryan-gunn-forced-pay-back-cash-probe-continues
3. Mel Morris is not only the entity involved with the ground! I believe Derby have an outstanding loan of around £20m owed US Finance company MSD. This loan is secured against the ground. Even if Morris wished to transfer the ground to the new owner for a norminal £1 he wouldn't be able to without MSD being paid off or MSD agreeing to roll the debt over to post-admin Derby County.
4. I believe he was only at Norwich on a short trail basis.
5. I doubt he will be on mega bucks now. Most Scottish premiership clubs are paying players at English League 1 levels.
6. I believe Webber has previously said that we are looking to sign players that represent value for money. On the whole proven Premier League / Championship players don''t fall in to this category. If the club can identify those players that have the quality to make the step up for less money then purchasing more expensive established players then it''s a win-win. Although this is easier said then done!
7. I don''t understand how it is feasible for championship clubs to be spending £10m+ on a single player when the average turnover per club in the championship is around £20m! In which reality does this make financial sense?
8. I can''t imagine there is a cat in hell''s chance of him going to Victoria Setubal. Most of the the clubs in Portuguese league, other then the possible exception of the big 3, have very little money and I can see them only being able to afford a fraction of his current wages. I guess we will negotiate the early release of his contract and he will end up at Lisbon again or similar statue of club, as low risk gamble.
9.
I''m looking forward to seeing who the new chairman is. A change is overdue given the mess of the last window, but overall Bowkett leaves us in a parlous state. "Could have done a lot better" would be a fitting epitaph.
I doubt Bowkett had much input to individual transfers, he might had input into the overall transfer budget, but he would not of been involved in the day to day running of the club. The role of chairman, as far as I''m aware, is a non-executive position, so its not going to have any adverse effect on not having anyone in that position for the time being. It shouldn''t effect this transfer window. The club can take their time in finding a suitable candidate
10.
From TWTD......"So much for the Mings fee arriving in instalments, it seems to have gone fully into the accounts for last year"Reply - "It goes onto the balance sheet in full immediately but is received in instalments"This can''t be true can it? Why would they show money they haven''t received in the accounts only to show a profit which is then subject to tax?http://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/361279/as-supporters-selling-players-is-pretty-rubbish-at-the-moment/#23
Yes it is as Ipswich would of invoiced Bournemouth for Ming''s in that financial year. From an accountancy point of view its irreverent when the cash for that invoice is received.
11. He is not too old he still has at least a couple of years left in him. He has not suffered any major injuries and his game is not built around out and out speed of which are the things that most curtail players careers. Also the fact that he doesn''t play every game will help prolong his career as it keeps him fresh and lessens the chance of injury. I think finding a replacement is going to be very hard as there are so few players in his mold. If a player doesn''t process the all round quality of a Silva or Hazard then its very difficult for them to get a chance as they are considered too lightweight. Just look at Wes he didn''t get a chance to play in the professional game until he was 24 and then that was only with Livingston.
12. I don''t think Kane was physically ready when he was on loan with us, but that is something he has definitely worked hard on over the last couple of seasons. I think it was the same with Gibbs when he was on loan with us. He showed glimpses of being a good player but was just outmuscled most of the time.
13. As it is for only a month we shoukd be able to recall him if needs be. It''s a great chance for him to get some regular first team experience in a higher league then he played before. If he does well he should have a stronger case for getting into the first team here.
14.
Regarding all I have said on this subject and whether I''m right or wrong, I do believe the fans deserve an explanation on the BJ sale.So far, the silence has been deafening from the club.
That is wrong Alex Neil has made a statement about BJ''s transfer - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/bradley_johnson_s_norwich_city_exit_was_best_for_all_parties_says_alex_neil_1_4238315 I believe the board would of backed Alex if the right players were available. The little tip bits that has been mentioned in the media that we have gone in for players but they have not wanted to come here. There is no point going and buying players for the sake of it. It''s better to stick with what you have then sign someone you don''t really want. As QPR have shown just going out and having a scattergun approach on signings and spending lots of money on mediocre premiership players doesn''t work!
15. I don''t think he will be looking to leave anyway. From the article I posted yesterday he doesn''t strike me as someone that is very ambitious. I think the Villa thing a couple of years ago was due to him not playing regular. As long as he is a regular in the side he is going to be happy, so I''m not concerned about him being poached.
16. I would say he is currently the early front runner for POTS. Hopefully he can keep it up it would be good to see him get it after so many years at the club. This is quite an interesting article about him http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/european-championships/wes-is-as-young-a-33yearold-as-ive-seen-31506598.html
17. Thankfully they no longer have Suarez. Every time we played them he tore the defence apart. Even the draw we got at Anfield, in our first season back, he should at least got a hatrick. Thankfully he didn''t have his shooting boots on that day, unlike all the othertimes!
18. Newcastle seems to be a bit of a bonkers club, so I wouldn''t be surprised if they go down! Ashley always seems to choose terrible managers and will sell any players he can make a few quid on. Even Pardew seemed a strange choice at the time having failed at West Ham, Carlton and Southampton. Although he obviously learnt from his mistakes and is now a very good manager. Yet a lot Newcastle fans wanted him out!
19. If I''m right in thinking that you can recall an emergency loan then I can only see this as a positive move. He has played so very few competitive games over the past year he needs a run of games. He is not going to get that with us, so sending him out on loan allows him to get the run of games he needs. If there is a injury crisis then he always be called back.
20. He does miss chances, but he has the instinct of being in the right place at the right time so generaaly gets more chances. He also seems to strike me as a bit of a confidence player as we saw last season with his two hot streaks. If he can get a goal I expect that he might go on a bit of a goal scoring run. Also people seem to have short memories as a lot of fans though the team might struggle after he got injured after the Ipswich home game as he was is such good form. Thankfully Jerome stepped up, but Grabban was definitely the main striker at that point. Now after one and half games he is being written off. Surely he deserves the chance to prove what he can do!
21.
as soon as Whits makes a mistake the crowd are howling like they have been waiting for it.
I never understand why fans do this. It''s certainly not going to help the player play better. Alough they are paid a lot of money, and are seen as fair game by some, they are still human and it''s going to likely have a negative effect of them. It''s likely to lead to them either trying too hard which leads to mistakes, looking for the easy option so not to make a mistake, or trying to hide by not wanting the ball. Any player giving 100% should be encouraged by the fans as hopefully that will give them a bit of extra confidence and help them play well. Maybe this is just a nandy pandy hippy view of the world!
22.
I think you''re right there, at least to an extent, so I''d say it''s still worth buying from the lower leagues because you''re avoiding the froth in prices.Premier League transfer price inflation over the last 5 years ought to approximately follow the TV revenues, assuming a relatively static supply of players. There are two 70% increases between each period and a 190% increase over two periods. If a new TV deal is known a year in advance, then prices will tend to respond upon announcement and filter through fairly quickly. But Maybe you can use the above percentages to assess what equivalent fees for certain players would have been in the past, a rough fag packet way to assess value.Jordan Rhodes at £14m today is theoretically ''worth'' £8.25m in say 2014 and £4.8m in 2011. For Robbie Brady, £9m would be equivalent to sums of £5.3m and £3.1m, but remember that he''s only got a year left on his Hull contract.
If a prem club goes in for a lower league player then the selling club is going to jack up the price as they know the buying club has money to burn, or at least in comparison to most L1&2 clubs. I think this is fine why shouldn''t they benefit a little from the riches of the premiership. I''m sure there are players in the lower leagues that can step up like Holt, Lambert, Austin etc have done. The fact that there are so many foreign players in the premiership means the British talent have to ply their trade lower down the pyramid. The problem they have is they don''t get long to get established before fans start turning on them as they are viewed as cheap options and can''t be any good as they have come from a lower league club. Imagine the comments from fans if the clubs goes out and buys a 27 year old striker from Shrewsbury now!
23.

Gone are the days of getting an Ian Crook for £80k or a Holt for £500k.
What would Holt be worth in today''s money?
A similar price in the same situation when a league 1 club is buying from a league 2 club. Although the Prem is a wash with money its not filtered down to leagues 1 & 2.
24. [Link]http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/pictured-liverpools-andre-wisdom-abandons-2717070[/link] Probably not the sharpest knife!
25. it''s not as simple as give him a free or sell him for £10. He has two years left on his contract and he is not going to find another club willing to pay him what he is on at Norwich. This means we will be liable to pay off part of his contract. A loan might be the most cost effective option for the club. I guess there will be a loan fee payable and a club maybe willing to offer him higher wages as they would only be commited to a years worth of wages.
