  1. Who wants to get involved lol. I’m sure he won’t mind me saying he’s being his overly combative self, but he does have a point. I’m amazed at the people choosing to ignore it/dismiss it simply because some people want to beat the club up at every opportunity. The club could have offered to work on an alternative solution. I’m amazed they didn’t, as that’s just objectively good PR.
  2. I’m confused where anyone is slating him in this thread.
  3. Sorry but not sure that’s got anything to do with any disconnect between club and supporters. However that’s a pretty classless way to deal with the situation. Could have done exactly the same thing but offered an alternative prize given the circumstances.
  4. lol that’s an insane slavish adherence to technicality.
  5. He’s going to be a top player, it’s a shame we were basically forced to sell him to anyone interested, he would have been immense for us this season.
  6. Easily our best player personally. He wasn’t ready for what he was bought for but we are reaping the rewards of that mistake now. There’s a real shortage of genuine number 9s, he’ll be worth a small fortune if we are forced to sell.
  7. It was massive, you (and we) missed Gunn as well. But it wasn’t enough justification for getting just 7pts over an 11 game period, that was the crux.
  8. I think the thing with Barnes is he was brilliant with Sargent at the start of the season. He was brilliant yesterday when he came on. However he hasn’t looked the same player on his own or with a different partner and I think many people’s assessment that he wasn’t justifying his place was probably fair. However that was never his fault. VHD looks more of a Sargent like option than Hwang or Idah ever were, but it’s too early to tell. The scalpel surgery done on the squad to improve the options up top does make sense though to me. Wagner used the three perfectly yesterday, Barnes changed the game and VHD showed even in his brief Cameo that he offers similar pace, strength and presence to Sarge.
  9. Great report as always Ricardo. I agree with Sargent MoM. Rowe, Sainz and Sara are all talents but there’s something talismanic about Sargent. I genuinely fear the day he moves on more than any other current player. Agree there were some great individual performances yesterday from the guys you’ve picked out. Barnes literally changed the game. I disagree on Fassnacht personally. In that first half he was getting in some really good positions, playing more freely he was coming central to link play and at one point popped up on the other side with Sainz. He faded in the second half though. He’s an enigma, there’s a talented and experienced pro there, but he’s definitely not a winger and we aren’t getting the most out of him.
  10. Indeed, it’s highly unlikely but it would absolutely unforgettable.
  11. Let’s be fair, I really like David as a person but I don’t think anyone’s misgivings are really unfounded. I still struggle to see where he takes us long term. Today was great though, still dicey far too many times, but this is the Wagner football we were promised when he joined, today was both effective and entertaining. Players were committed and passionate. It was a far cry from some earlier performances. I worry though we are far too reliant on Sargent, when he went down heavy in the first 15 and was struggling for a bit I was fearing the worst. He really is our talisman right now, hopefully Sydney can help lighten the load.
  12. It’s all setting up nicely for another playoff win against them hopefully, would truly make this season even if we don’t win the final.
  13. Great result, good performance overall and definitely not boring. Sargent and Gunn indispensable to this team. Sainz is looking better and better as well.
  14. One of the best half’s of Wagnerball IMO despite the scoreline and some misplaced passing. Pretty even but we really should have done enough to be ahead.
  15. It’s a fair criticism. He should have had his contract immediately terminated IMO. I’m surprised there wouldn’t be grounds to tear it up with no cost to us given his actions. I’m all for people learning from their mistakes and getting redemption, but he can do that somewhere else.
  16. He’d be foolish not to, the rots already started so a big move before they properly lose that promotion spot would make sense.
  17. Honestly this is setting up to be one of the biggest churns in playing squad for a long while. Probably more than any of Webber’s. Forshaw and Placheta already gone. A large number of players out of contract in the summer and I see little reason to keep any of them. Sargent and Rowe at a minimum will be in high demand. Probably Gunn and Sara as well. Idah May move on if we still deem him not ready. There’s possibly Kenny as well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Farke come knocking again. Even if we somehow get to the PL I don’t think it changes much of the above other than keeping players safe from the circling teams. It would be unthinkable IMO for us to repeat the mistakes of the past and sell a Rowe or Sargent on promotion.
  18. I honestly wondered if that’s Knapper’s thinking. Wagner has appeared to be reluctant to play younger players, reducing the options forces him to use the players at his disposal. To be honest if Varane had come off I’d say on paper it would have been an excellent first window, especially given the extreme lack of movement in England. The only slight negative for me is if we were really pushing for top 6 Knapper didn’t have one player in mind for a loan to give us a bit of an edge, I was hoping he’d pluck someone from the Arsenal academy. On paper I think he’s done well, each decision makes sense to me. The proof is in what happens next as always, I always feel positive after a window. There’s always a chance the Donk is a masterstroke that kicks on our season.
