1. Playing a Pulis side away in a howling gale and horrible rain? Add in a tw@t of a referee, a stonewall sending off for the home side overlooked, a penalty against and a (correct) sending off against us...I''d have taken a point from those descriptions at the start. If I was a Palace fan I''d be much more worried That despite all of those going in their favour they still couldn''t beat us. Too many with an unpleasant agenda on here I''m afraid. Only one team even attempted to play football in those conditions and it wasn''t Palace. It was almost impossible to play controlled football in those conditions so all that was left was to dig in and take something away from the match. Decent point. Onto the next ''must win'' fixture in this season that seems to be full of them for some people. (Hull) What the f*** do some of you lot on here expect from NCFC this season? I can only conclude that some of you have very short memories indeed
2.
As much as I think Whittaker is very talented and Martin''s contributions for us are exemplary and not to be underestimated I feel part of the reason our attacking game falls down is we are very one sided when it comes to creating overloads. Olsson and Redmond are quick enough to get away with it and that''s why Redmond gets a lot of joy down his wing (albeit with questionable end product) but if you ask me Martin/Whitts and Snodgrass combined are just not quick enough to get us to the byline and track back effectively if hit on the break. I know that''s why Snoddy cuts inside, but if he had a quicker FB running on when he does that, we''d have great success with the reverse pass in behind
See for me Snoddy isn''t a winger or a wide midfielder...I watch him playing for Scotland where Strachan has very quickly moved him into a supporting forward role just behind the main striker... He hasn''t th necessary pace or crossing ability for me to be an out and out winger...I thnk the issues down the right hand side (and I agree with you we are much too slow in attacking down that flank unless Russ goes past Snoddy) are more caused by that than either full-back we play there. For me he is more like a good old-fashioned inside forward, but how the hell we could fit THAT position into the formation/shape/fluid setup we currently use I do not know!!
3. The most important factor in any formation is the intelligence (in footballing terms) of the personnel being asked to fulfil roles within that shape. As a basic example, the fluidity of players when adapting to different shapes when we do and do not have the ball is hugely important. A midfield 5 when you don''t have the ball needs to able to morph into an attacking three linking with the striker when you do have possession. So really a 4-5-1 formations is nothing of the sort - as long as the players are flexible is should be a 4-2-3-1, or a 4-5-1 or a 4-1-4-1 or even (god forbid) 4-4-2 as long as you have a midfielder capable of playing in a more advanced role... So while I agree that hearing moaners near me in the Barclay whinging on about ''2 up top'' can be annoying, for me a better question to ask of CH is do we deploy the right players for each phase of play in the shape they are being asked to play? Generally I think he does, although this season for me it has been the transition into attacking shape where we fall down...not enough players able to join the attack quickly enough in dangerous areas for me - which is where Wes made such a difference I thought on Saturday...
4. Unfortunately Kangaroo, Waveney isn''t making any point about Man U or their fans. He specialises in abusing Norwich City fans who don''t qualify as ''true'' NCFC fans by his rather warped criteria. He has long campaigned against ''plastics'' - and if he had his way the weekly attendance at Carrow Road would be about 60! If the point were about the plasticity of glory hunting fans of the big clubs it would be so much easier to stomach - but it is entirely about his game of one-upmanship on those of us who dare to follow Norwich but had the misfortune to be born elsewhere. He returns to this with the same monotonous regularity with which we are treated to his views on Hughton and Lambert. And I annoy myself by letting him wind me up!!!!
5. Interesting question this. We were talking about this yesterday too, but between four of us couldn''t really come up with a side that would accommodate all four of them without sacrificing too much defensive stability. They''d have to score a shed load of goals to win games with the amount we''d probably concede! Can''t really see it happening to be honest. We also had a similar debate about the midfield - what is the best midfield 4 or 5 from Redmond, Snodgrass, Bennett, Pilks, BJ, Fer, Wes, Howson, Tettey?
6.

You are an odious little bigot aren''t you! Narrow minded idiots like you make me sick. You should be pleased that Norwich attracts fans from all over the world. Oh and don''t bother replying with your usual oh the irony rubbish either.
I am merely reflecting the views of the true fans on the terraces. I am not alone by a long stretch of the imagination as witnessed if you were at the ground today
You don''t reflect my opinions in the slightest. Please do not presume to speak for me or my dozens of NCFC supporting friends and colleagues with this nasty nonsense.
7. I would drop BJ when. Howson is fit, have Leroy holding and Wes on today''s form just behind Hooper. Bradley''s commitment isn''t in doubt, but he simply isn''t anywhere near as good a footballer as any of those three. Big Leroy can protect the back four with Howson and Wes just ahead of him. I''d have BJ on the bench ready for when we need him to protect a lead (wishful thinking there!!)
8. Ah...Morty beat me to it!! But I think he has the potential to make more impact than maybe you do. Morty?
9.
I love this he is to inconsistent arguement. If he consistently played like today he wouldn''t be here, would he?
Fair enough JF - if he played that he did today all the time he probably wouldn''t be here for that long. But how would you frame the argument.? He is too inconsistent - much as I love the guy when he isn''t playing very well he is a lightweight passenger and we can''t afford one of those in this league. When he plays like today he is every inch an international class footballer. I guess I''m not saying it is fair to expect him to play like this every week, but that his standard performance has to be closer to this than to the sometimes totally anonymous figure he is on here periphery. As I said, I feel that today''s formation gave him more support and cover and his link up play with Hoops was very encouraging...maybe we can start there!
10. But he didn''t overplay things today...he was direct, threatening, full of confidence and Man U really didn''t know how to deal with him. No blinkers on....I accept he is too inconsistent, but his quality really isn''t in doubt for me. I also felt the formation today helped him, which may be a clue as to how to improve his consistency longer term. I assume you didn''t see today''s game, as your points just don''t add up on today''s evidence
11.
@ Parma Ham - the point is that the management team seems incapable of motivating teams in the matches that matter. Play like that at home against Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City - to name but four - and we''ll likely lose them still. Play like that at home against Villa, Swansea and Fulham and we might have won all three. Says it all really.
This is a very good point Highland. I don''t get it either. But I do have another thought that is linked - the atmosphere at Carrow Road has been dire at times...even when we went one nil up against Fulham it was like a library. Today it was much much better. Now many on here say that it has to do with performance levels on the to pitch, which I accept to some extent. BUT - I wonder if the crowd had pumped things up a bit on. Thursday if the players might have got things moving a bit better? Do we simply expect to beat those teams as a matter of course so we don''t get ''up'' for those and get behind the team in The same way as we did today?
12.
Make that a double please Malky.[Y][Y]
So to link this to your moronic comment on the Wes thread... You are a Norwich City fan who wants to have Malky Mackay in and Wes Hoolahan out? I think your opinions are a little bit odd
13.
Hoolahanhahaha...........get rid asap.
Constructive as ever Wiz? He was great today. I can''t imagine any Norwich fan would dispute that???? So the point you are trying to make would be what exactly?
14. *left out for Palace* No idea who Jeff is or how he got involved!!
15. Absolutely agree Lincoln. Thought he and Hooper seemed really tuned in, and some of their link up play was lovely. I think he played far too well to be Jeff out for. Palace - My question though, is will he show the consistency we all know he needs to find and play to that standard again? Would love to see him given some time to gel with Hooper. Also think today''s formation helped him to shine, as he had lots of support around him for a change.
16. Bloody hell? Intelligent, reasoned and well-articulated opinion??? On here?????? Parma, a spot-on rationale. Thank you.
17. Thanks Ricardo - pretty much how I saw it. In terms of subs, I found myself wondering how we could get more forward momentum if we had to sacrifice a midfielder for either RVW or Elmander - I could only see BJ being taken off which would have allowed Manure far to much room in midfield. Then Hooper signaled he was inured and that made it even less clear. I saw it more as a 4-2-3-1 formation today, which meant we got more support to hooper more quickly.. I really enjoyed how Hoper and Hoolahan linked up today and how in tune they seemed to be - I thought both were excellent. Finally, to watch a Man Utd team (current reigning champions let us not forget!) playing out time so desperately and in usual cynical fashion to cling on to an ill-deserved 1-0 win was a sign to me of how grateful they were to be escaping with a fortuitous victory... But why the feck couldn''t we have played in that way against Fulham?????????
18. No Waveney - I was at the match and I am quite happy with my view thank you. However having read most of the turd you spout on here I am less convinced that you were at the match - weren''t Ipsh1t playing today? However, I do feel happy that if you are in disagreement with me then I must be doing something right...
19. Nor from me - best we''ve played for a long time in my view. Selection right, good ball retention, much crisper passing, higher tempo, better energy, better width. Now just keep hoolahan in when Howson comes back and drop BJ and maintain those performance levels for other matches and I see little to moan about. I seriously do not understand how the players can perform so wretchedly on Thursday and so much more impressively 48 hours later - but I sincerely hope we see more of this in hey he second half of the season The boos for the substitution of an injured Hooper for RVW were an embarrassment but the way - as are are some of the negative nonsense on here. But then I''m used to that by now
20. Spain this week. Atletico Bilbao to beat Vallecano at home. Bilbao''s home form is great - beat Barca at home last time out. Vallecano are pants away... Seems obvious for a home win....famous last words!!
21. See normally I wouldn''t be agreeing with canary one on this, but I have to say that this thought had occurred to me too...we are going to need seven wins from the second half of the season and Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Spurs and Lverpool are unlikely to yield maximum points (although in passing one thing CH actually did manage to do last season was pull off wins against Man U and Arsenal at home) Home games against Swansea, Fulham, hull, Sunderland, WBA, stoke are going to crucial...starting on Sunday
22.
He is was and always will be the Messiah and our club is much the poorer that he has gone There are to many on here who disrespect the Messiah and have easily forget what he has done for the club Hughton out Messiah back
Or alternatively you could always sod off and follow your Messiah to Villa. I''m sure their message board would rejoice in your wisdom
23. Aaron Ramsay on current form... Just imagine his linking up with RVW and Hoops!!
