1. We have lost just 6 of our last 22 PL games. Why do some of you think we are going to lose our last 9 especially as most of those are against teams at the bottom. Those same people saying how magnificent Villa are lol. They have already conceded more goals with 9 games left than they had for the last few seasons.

If you really think we are going down follow Wiz''s get rich quick scheme and go and put your money where your mouth is. Most bookies have us at 14/1 to be relegated if you go to Betfair and shop around you can get 20/1. The reason is because the bottom 5 constantly play each other they cant both get 3 points in the same game.

  2. Hi Pete

For the more valuable / signed stuff ect you need a local specialist auction therefore attracting local people interested in the club and also attracting a large number of people via the correct publicity. I am sure one of the main local auctioneers would run it cheaper than normal purely for the local publicity. These auctions also go online so if there is more rare stuff or England stuff it will attract proper collectors. If you suddenly swamp ebay with this stuff it will go for next to nothing.

The stuff is also very expensive to send and distribute so talking to the right people and possibly sponsors is very important. I know AVIVA read these message boards so come on guys give Pete a hand. Maybe 5 of you could do the crossbar challenge as a sponsored event to raise money for this cause ?????

I would say this is a good time of year to buy kit as vastly reduced with new shirt coming soon, however did the club not do something last year of their own back where they send all the kit to a certain company ? not sure if I am correct but this could be why the club not coming back quick.

Hope you find that helpful as not meaning to interfere. Keep up the good work.

  3. Its a Norwich thing that says your main forward who scores all your goals has to be your best defender as well or he is c**p. Not that I disagree that £6m is to much I just fear for whoever the guy is brought in to take us forward as he wont be given a chance because of this strange attitude that a forward is rubbish unless he chases the ball everywhere.

  4. Come on then hands up who feels the silliest lol.

Turner rubbish lol, Hughton wont get us a win lol, Swansea are rubbish lol, Reading and QPR are class lol, Reading and Southampton will buy themselves out of trouble lol, Hughton does not know what he is doing signing another goalkeeper and Turner when clearly Ayala is better lol.

  5. Like most I agree 100 % with the op. I suspect however that Hughton will consider Saturdays game as a must not lose game rather than go straight out for a win. Therefore I also suspect that on Saturday following a boring 0 - 0 or a 1 - 0 the usual suspects will be tearing your thread to peices, but hey just dont listen.

  6. You hit the nail on the head. Are you really telling me there were no boys from Norfolk / Suffolk / Cambridgeshire that we could not have developed into premiership footballers ? Dion Dublin, John Ruddy and Jack Wilshire were in our catchment area.

EPP was the way forward but ala Barca and Bayern ie only one academy in England for the best elite kids. Nothing has changed at Norwich and will not untill European coaches take control of the younger kids ( 7 and upwards ) or the next lot of coaches from our kids that are presently 8 and 9 years old begin coaching purely on a development basis and not a win at all costs when you are seven. English coaches ( in the main ) at present do not even understand why somebody born in say July 2004 is not as fast as somebody born in September 2003. The academies refused to adopt the age rules that every other country adopt so kids born after oct / nov in an academic year are just ignored.

To have an academy we need a stable premiership team we could not afford it in the championship. To get that premiership team we need to invest in our squad until they are established. If the money that we overpaid on our season tickets in league 1 had been put into the academy rather than Grant Holt I fear we would be a championship side at best. Surely it is upto the club to invest in academies. For what ever reason they told you via the money you used to raise fans money was no longer required.

Like Southampton! You name one club. When Sutton, Fox, Bellamy and Eadie came through the rules were very different from those the academy has had to contend with in the last 10 years. Added to the fact that the top divisions weren''t stacked full of foreign players making it even more difficult for local boys to play league football at any level. Anyway, over the last 10 years off the top of my head we''ve had playing for our first team Robert Green, Jason Shackell, Darren Kenton, Chris llewellyn, Darel Russell, Ryan Jarvis, Ian Henderson, Joe Lewis, Michael Spillane, Chris Martin, Luke Daley, Tom Adeyemi, Korey Smith, George Francomb, Declan Rudd, Jed Steer. (apologies to the lads I forgot). Now that''s not an unmitigated disater in anyone''s language.

Man City are investing £550 million we are investing £2 and a bit million and suddenly to be raised by the fans. The likes of Southampton, Watford, Cambridge, Crewe and West Ham to name but a few know how to develop kids when they are 7 upwards. I have no problem with our academy team but when it comes to developing talent from a young age we are light years behind still judging kids on wether or not they won last week and not what can be produced.

Like I said I am quite happy to invest in giving help to Hughton but not to something ( ie the younger kids ) that clearly has not worked.

Again, I''m not commenting on the 19 quid. It''s not for me to have a view on what others do with their money. I''m commenting on the opinion that for the last ten years our academy has been an unmitigated disaster.

This message board seems to be full of people who want to slag down everyone and everything to do with our club. I''m proud of our academy and especially the few local boys who have come through over all the years. Not many Norfolk boys have played at a better standard than Tom Adeyemi has the potential to attain.

If you don''t think we are investing properly in our academy the have a look at this website especially the new EPPP. It''s an exciting concept and some thing I''m really pleased that our academy has embraced and I''m proud that we applied for and attained category one rating.

    http://www.footballacademytalk.com/

That much vaunted tahn academy, much to their fan''s consternation didn''t bother to apply for category one. Of course they wouldn''t have attained it anyway.

Unfortunately it is not just our academy it is the English academy system, hence why Man City have employed a large per centage of the Barcelona academy coaches. Can you really tell me that over 10 years not one Norfolk born child could not be developed into a premiership footballer ? I am not a moaner I stick up for this club at every hurdle. Again I would happily invest into a group of kids each year contracted to this club to be sent to Barcelona / Bayern ect to be developed into premiership footballers.

If you look at our scholars each year most have been developed by Cambridge / West Ham / Tottenham to name but a few and not us. kids at under 7 - scholars at our club can be kicked out every 6 weeks.

  9.
Hmmmm, just actually read my renewal paperwork after working away for a while, and I had till January 31st to opt out of the academy donation.

Not saying I would have, but a bit cheeky automatically opting you in to it.
Thats interesting did not know that. Plan to renew ours next week and will be insisting on opting out. Will have to think seriously about all 8 of our tickets if we are made to pay it. Would love to see where that was highlighted in all the initial announcements.

By the way for those who then scream unloyal ect I would happily donate the £19.00 to a Hughton help to sign Hooper fund.

  10.
We do seem to perform against CH''s beloved Spuz. He seems to be able to raise extra motivation against them. Perhaps we could try that motivation every week instead of being in awe as we are against Liverpool etc
I must have dreamt the previous 26 points

  11. Thanks KIO - should also have mentioned our subs are

Camp, Whittaker, Howson, Jackson, Fox, E.Bennett, R.Bennett

Got to say Salopian with all the injuries this is the first time this team has all played together for sometime. Once Whittaker 100 % fit assume he will be back in as much as I like Martin. Bit harsh on Wes has he not won 4 of the last 5 MOM at home ? Possibly in fairness you did not go on Saturday when the likes of Bennett had their chance and could not impress

  12. This is a project over several years to rebuild via a group of kids into another set of super stars. Surely could not have been done in England as as soon as the first team lost 2 consecutive games the fans would want him out unable to understand what was being built.

Good luck to him. This move could change football for the next 100 years as surely if he prooves he can develop another group of players all football will adopt his methods.

  13. Fair play to the Admiral. Would be really funny if The Admiral managed to shut out Bent / Bentekee ect.

Wonder if Lambert would panic buy then and buy him as his experince and leader - At least he would give 100 % for him whatever the circumstances unlike most of those he is managing at the moment.

  14. Hi South I will happily have a discussion we clearly have 2 different views and unless things change we are both wrong because this country ( not our club ) do not have the capibility to develop kids into Messi''s and Iniesta''s. You will also note my original post referred to English academies as much as it did our academy. I will never be able to proove this but I am certain if Messi would have been born in Norfolk under the 90 minute rule he would have struggled to become a professional footballer.

Unfortunately with the younger kids for some reason coaches seem to think or actually be judged on results. This is the whole reason why the English FA are following the likes of Scotland and the rest of Europe into making football upto 11 uncompetitive. Unfortunately it is only the next generation of kids and parents that will realise the benefits attached to developing skills rather than defending by hoofing. I was recently at a European tournament for kids. Our academy system would love a kid that can score with a freekick from the 1/2 way line. In Europe it is against the rules. In Europe they would much rather encourage a kid to do a Marrodona turn lose the ball and give a goal away than just make sure they hoof it rather than give the ball away.

If the academy is going to be such a success garunteed why do they want our money ? surely it is worth investing millions as a club ? Then we can get some some of the worlds top coaches which surely is what is needed to develop the best kids. If we were already investing in the top coaches in the world we would already be producing top players. Will 50 % of money raised on mega transfers reduce our season ticket prices in the future ? I doubt it.

This is not aimed at our academy really just English football in general. Man City have already moved the goal posts garunteeing the top kids the top coaches. Now unless I have it totally wrong you are asking me to invest into something that has not produced players but can now get players from further afield without changing anything ?. Surely it is the coaching to develop kids that needs changing not where you get them from ?

  15.
The aim is to build an academy as good as Arsenal or Man Utd, and then we would start bringing better players through. I agree it''s a gamble, but a must if we are to be a regular prem side!
Sorry mate cant agree. Our Academy is in the dark ages and is not geared to develop kids but trying to make it with the best of the best at any one particular time. If you doubt me have a look at our scholars for the last few years. Why is it that more kids taken come through Cambridge as opposed our club ? If you are not 6ft at 9 years old and born in Sept / Oct / Nov you have little chance in the English academy system.

Man City are investing ( not the fans ) £50m into their academy and have employed senior members of the Barcelona academy. If you were one of the best players in the country in any age group ( unless you lived somewhere near ) why would you sign for Norwich as opposed to Man City / Arsenal / Man Utd / Liverpool or even the likes of Barcelona. And before people scream that is a little Norwich attitude put yourself in the place of those kids not you as a Norwich supporter.

I will happily pay an extra £38 ( double being requested ) if it meant in 2 years time we could buy a top player / striker, but I am not prepared to throw my well earned money into something that will still not develop kids but will just look around for cast offs from other clubs.

The £2m the club promised ( on top of the £2.6m given by the premier league ) is a drop in the ocean of the increased monies from next year. This sort of says our club cant afford the academy, which also worrily to me says the club are not certain we will stay up.

  16.
there is nothing on bbc website about hughton looking at gary hooper
As I am sure the op will also say this was said by the reporter at the game. He did not say Hughton maybe here looking at a certain player he clearly made a point of saying Norwich Manager Chris Hughton is here today casting a final eye over Hooper ( he was that Scottish commentator that seems to know a lot ). There were a number of managers there but no other manager or player was singled out.

  17.
Is it that if anyone posts a negative view on here that they are a troll?  Or that if anyone questions the team selection, tactics etc, they are an idiot to question Hughton''s judgement?

I''ve been to almost every match home and away this season (inc cup games) so feel that I have a right to express an opinion on here without being shot down by those who only ever see the club and management in a positive light.

We have now lost 5 out of the last 6 matches, have looked second best for the most part and and have barely mustered a shot on target in several of these games (seemingly being hugely reliant on set-pieces to get goals) whilst conceding plenty of goals. I appreciate we''ve had some tough matches but this is not the first time this season we''ve been on a similar poor run.  We''ve also not won a match in the league in which we''ve gone behind in this season so I think people have a right to question the team selection, tactics and possibly more importantly, the substitutions and lack of a plan B.

Maybe we should beg Lambert to come back. He certainly is smashing the records at Villa. Worst premier league start ever, worst defeat in premier league and on course to conceed a record amount of goals. You may have seen on Sky the other day the Villa fan being interviewed who when asked how could Lambert turn things around he simply replied - QUIT.

People are not objecting to your negative comments about certain games they are objecting to people trying to claim we would have been in a better position without Hughton. The other major problem is that certain posters were calling for Hughtons head near the begginning of the season. Those very same posters dissappeared and have now suddenly reappeared ( some using different names ) gradually moving towards posting Hughton out. Thats why people are considering these posters as trolls. If you really think we are that bad ( not sure of the price now ) but at the weekend we were 12/1 to be relegated. Have a few quid on it !! For my part I backed before christmas Lambert to be the next manager sacked at 25/1 he is now 5/4.
