I don''t suppose anyone has seen that Southampton have bid 11.8 Million for a Senegal Winger called Siado Mane who is currently with Salzburg ? According to Sky Sports ? So If this comes off would they want Redmond as well ?

Not a regular poster on here but need somewhere to vent my frustration about today’s game. The problem with the loss today and the ones before today is that from now to the end of the season any team that plays us when we are away from home will see the game as a guaranteed 3 points including Fulham who have already beaten us this season. I don’t think anybody needs reminding of the last 3 trips there (6 nil 2-1 and 5-0) Whether we beat West Brom next week or not Fulham will now no doubt see the game against us a possible opportunity to get on a role and get some confidence. If we fail to win next week then I can’t see how we will get any points from the rest of the season. Last season I was firmly in the "Hughton In" camp and felt a lot of the criticism directed at him was unfair and thought there was a lot of unnecessary negativity on this board but you are only ever as good as your last game and even though there have been some very special results under Hughton (ones that I will never forget) for every good result there have been 2 bad ones. It’s not just the results or the defeats but the manner of them. The only positive thing I can say is that we have not spent more than1 week in the bottom 3 because of our home form but that will be no good come the end of the season if we are in the bottom 3 on the final day. I thought Hughton got all wrong today. Just because we had a winning team at home last week does not mean we should have kept the same team this week. Horses for courses I say. We should not have gone to Swansea away from home with a four man midfield and tried to play them at their own game as we do not have the quality to do that in the midfield to do that. We should have packed the midfield, pressed and harried them and stopped them from playing their natural game we have done this so well the last 2 seasons ! We surrendered nearly 60 percent possession today and that''s ok if you are disrupting their pattern of play so you can can counter attack. Yes I am sure if we had played with a 5 man midfield and got the same result people would of said why did Hughton change things but I don’t think trying to play "keep ball" against a "keep ball side" was the answer today. Do I really want to go and waste an afternoon for more of the same and being miserable at craven cottage in 2 weeks time ? Before anyone says "get behind the team blah blah blah" I have been to several way games this year and seen us lose every single one.I love my team but everbody has their limits.

Hey not regualar poster on here but a regular viewer But I would like to make the point in response to anybody thinking we should be paying less for Hooper, that if the reports were correct that we were willing to pay 7.1Million last January and we have now agreed 5 million then it does not take a mathmatacian to work out that we would have saved 2.1 million for other potential signings. Celtic are maybe wishing they had bitten our hand off last January. We did not give in to the 8 million that was reported they wanted at the time which was seen as a bit gamble for us not to improve our strike force but we took our chances and survived relegation  and it seems to have paid off. [:D] Also what would of people on here said if we had payed 8 million for Hooper in Jan ?

Injured? not sure, don''t think so but by the way it came across to me was that Hughton was sending him back to make room for others. but as I said i am not 100% certain and don''t want to add to the speculation if it turns out not to be true but the information was relaible

But have been informed Harry Kane''s loan deal may be ending and he will be going back to Spurs by the end of the window. I don''t really have an opinion on Kane because he''s been injured for the most part so you judge whether this a good or bad thing. So if this transpires It could mean one of several things A- We are going to be left short of options in the forward department again B- The board are confident on they can get one of their potential targets. C- The board are trying to free space in the squad for another position or just for Kei Kamara and don''t have any intention of adding to the squad upfront. No I don''t wish to disclose the source No I am not 100% certain of this as I am not sure of details of his loan agreement but I am sure you or your fellow posters will know the exact details of the terms more than I do. No I am not a wind up merchant but I just don''t post that often but just wanted to offer the interesting news also.

It is a difficult one for sure. On one hand I would not like to see us throwing away points because we did not field our strongest team but on the other hand it is a worry though that without careful management of the squad that a couple more injuries to key players could affect rest of the season for the sake of one game. For example I would not want lose Tettey or Hoolahan for a few weeks because they have been over played. But then at the same time you could argue that players run the risk of injury anytime they step on to the pitch anyway Looking forward to seeing what Hughton does over the Xmas period I personally can''t wait to get it over and done with and look forward to the January transfer window.I am not sure why teams have to play so many games in such a short space of time but never the less that''s just the way it is and all the teams are in the same boat and have to deal with it I suppose.

I am not saying you are wrong as I like the way Hughton always puts out our strongest 11 every week. With players like Tettey back in the side at the weekend it really showed as we looked alot more solid. But do you think the same team can keep the up the same level of intensity and performance for every one on those 4 games. If they can somehow than it would great but Remember its 4 games in 10 days give or take. 2 of those games are against top sides and we need to be at our best even if they are not firing on all cylinders or not.

Barring the Sunderland victory all of the home games that we have won so far this season were games that we did not manage to win last season the most recent being against Wigan. Considering the disruptions of pre-season and the start we had it shows how well Hughton has turned things around recently. Without stating the obvious the win over Wigan was very significant as it has given us a big bonus of having more points in the bag than we did last season as we enter the busy Xmas period. I have seen a few posts and heard a few comments on Canary call which have criticised Hughton''s lack of ability to freshen things up by rotating the squad and that he also does not have a plan B when it comes to making substitutions. However last year even though Lambert''s substitutions were at times inspired some posters posed the question of " I don''t understand why we don''t play our strongest 11 every week?" Both these points are very valid so it will be interesting to see how Hughton manages the squad of the Xmas period and how he will go about picking up as many points as possible but also trying to reduce the risk of fatigue and injury to our key players. In my humble opinion I would like to see us play our strongest available side against West Brom and Chelsea. Rotate against Man City and try to have the best available squad for West Ham. I don’t think it’s possible or wise with the schedule to play the strongest starting 11 for everyone of these 4 games without risking the long term fitness of the players. Thoughts ?

Fantastic entertainment Yes ! But not good for the health and I must aged 10 years in the last 3 years :). I think a good start now and again would be nice rather than having to reach for the heart Resuscitators eveyweek.

As I have just put on a thread regarding substitutions I was very suprised he was not used last week. I know some people feel he can be a liablity and that he does not have an engine like Howson but for those marginal games I hope Hughton gives him a chance to show that he can just give us that bit of creativity which can mean the difference between 3 points and 1. So I hope he is included even if it is just as an impact sub.

I have not seen this mentioned on any other threads but I may have missed this point already. This is not a moan but just an observation from last week against QPR. With roughly 6 minutes to go Hughton brought on Morrison and Chris Martin which for me was not really enough time for them to make an impact on the game. If we think back to last season the timing of the substitutions won us the game both home and away (albeit gainst a weaker QPR side) and also gained us many valuble points from losing positions.   Of course there may have been a number of good reasons for this such as that we were unlucky to conceed a penalty and despite that setback were in the ascendancy for much of the game so why change things around if what you are doing is working already. One or two of the players may not of been a 100% so it may not of been worth the risk and if some of our chances had gone in then of course I would not be making this point right now. I liked the fact we looked better defensively but I would not like to think that we will take the oppisite appraoch to last season and be afraid of taking a gamble now and again.   So now that he has added quite a few players now and that Hughton has had a good look as the "second string" in action last night will he make more use of his bench now if he needs too? I was suprised that Hoolahan was not used last week, yes at times he can be a liabilty but he has also been a match winner on many occasions especially in some of those marginal games last season. Lastly now that David Fox is back on the road to full fitness where will he fit in if at all ?

Of course they don''t look outside the top 5 and it can get fustrating indeed I now call Talk Sport radio not talk Sport but Talk Top 5 radio becuase thats all they talk about! However just going by all the predicted form guides that I have read written for 2012/2013 by most media streams either online or printed that are saying the same thing. But as you say they don''t know City like we do and are probably playing it safe.

Alright fellow yellows Another newbie here but have been reading the message baord for about six months so would now like chuck in my two pence worth. I have noticed that occasionaly that it is a good idea to come on here ready with tin hat and body armour well strapped on but hey that''s cool as I am as passionate as they come as I did Sky Sports Fanzone for City last season and got all the usual " your sister has 6 toes" type jokes thrown at me so I am used to a bit of stick and giving some out too! unfortunatley Sky have decommisioned the programme this season so looking to get involved from a different angle now.   One thing I cannot get my head round is why just because Paul Lambert has left that we are favourites to go down and amditedly mainly amongst the pundits but I don''t think we should be as concerned as they think we should be. We are used to this sort of treatment from the pundits and I have no doubt Mark Lawrenson and Paul Merson along with the rest of the media will still probably predict us to lose every single game as they did last season but we as fans know how good our players really are even if the pundits continue to write us off all the time. If Paul Lambert was still with us would anybody''s opinion be different? Considering we still have all our key players is it not a bit disrespectful to Chris Hughton to just assume that we now are doomed? Of course I would also argue that having too high expectations would be also foolish and that a couple more of new additions would not go a miss but there alot of great things going for our club and reasons to feel why we should not be favourites to get relegated.    A young and hungry premiership side (not a team of journey men eg QPR/West Ham) that now have a seasons experience under their belt.That''s better than no experienceA team that still has all it''s key game changing/winning players with time still left to add to the squadUnrealiable players/not needed players shipped out without hesitationA mangager that''s looking to strengthen defensively and not just attack attack attack leaving the defence under pressure for much of the game. Yes attack is the best form of defence but you can''t come back from a goal down everyweekOur new players just becuase they did not cost millions eg Andy Carrol does that not mean that they won''t be effective or worth millions in the years to come?Finally if the worst comes the worst and we do get relegated we have chief excutive that will never allow us to get the sort of state a couple of years ago where it was reported we were close to administraton.  It''s an old cliche that if you standstill in the premier league that you will get left behind so yes it may be a tough season for us but who knows we could suprise everyone again.
